  • 6 people never learnt proper english

  • 6 people got lost on their way to Dublin

  • love the song

  • It doesn't get better than this. Anyone with any Irish blood should feel it flowing through their veins, especially after the last verse.

  • @Jadeclarkxxxx

I AGREE the difference is he knew what he was singin about, a very smart guy luke,

he knew back to the normans and elizabeth the 1st and o neill and o donnell, he understands about what hes sings as seen when i think in his rendition of phil coulters scorn not his simplicity

  • 5 people failed to cut a stout blackthorn

  • On a scale of 1-10, Luke Kelly is about a 17 on the Irish meter.

  • @xerdocreisson WHAT A BUST SHITHOLE? thats harsh..

  • Five people have lost on the way to Dublin ... : D

  • This man is Ireland embodied.

  • @Xerdocreisson

You know it, the old ways are strong with this one.

We are the serpent, we are the snake...

  • that's a great look between luke and barney. he sang the second verse twice, as if it wasn't hard enough. what a powerful voice.

  • @SCurranable Just have a look on Amazon, look for The Dubliners or Luke Kelly

  • Inhuman lung capacity.

  • my brother's name is luke kelly xD

  • so much hair........

  • I must say that Ireland have some kickass folksongs, and The Dubliners make it even better, no matter who is singing

  • he was a true great and a great personality and a working man!

  • I used to deal blackjack to luke in the merrion casino in dublin about 10 years ago and and despite his deteriating health he was a lovely man R.I.P

  • @MrToadbob I severely doubt that, considering he died 25 years ago.

  • @alwayswinit4real 27 years ago in fact. I wonder if MrToadbob got a kick out of that lie? Or maybe he's confusing Luke with someone else.

  • damm luke, he left no room for improvement in this song.

  • Three people are Huns

  • The problem with Luke is that you inevitably end up comparing every other singer with him. And theres just no comparison.

  • Luke is a great singer. Too bad he died so young. 44 years old, I guess it had todo with his heavy drinking.

  • @desbienscharles

He died of a brain tumour, not his drinking

    R.I.P. Luke

  • i now the words to this and im 11

  • Happy St Patricks wishing peace health happiness and good luck to All GB The Lads

  • Thumbs Up from a french dude loving Ireland and Ireland culture.

Luke Kelly is immortal, and so are the Dubliners in my heart !

  • R.I.P Luke Kelly, till this day his voice and energy with this song has uplifted so many people and nations ! Greetings from Montenegro Cheers all God Bless !!! =]

  • Guess I'll never speak proper english.

  • hear that power in his voice! :[]

  • The BEST Irish singer in the world!!

  • he's actually getting me on the best buzz for paddys day.been listening to him all day here and i cannot wait

  • Best dead or alive the best ever

  • did i just hear wrong or was that the best singer in the world bar none.

  • @irishgeal1 dead on :)

  • Outstanding :)

  • I cant believe that the HIGH KINGS?? version of this song has more views, its a disgrace the high kings are an embarrasment and this is one of Lukes best vocal performances

  • @tony10396861

    Why are they an embarrasment?

  • @WatchRyder Overly stagey faux-Irish group of cringy plastic paddies. They're not a folk group, they are a pop group that happens to sing folk songs

  • @tony10396861 explain each comment please , plastic paddies? not a folk group?? pop ?? too bad you dont have a clue about irish music!! They will always be an inspiration to musicians all over the world!!! I like mma too!!!! would would to leave u picking up ur face!!!!

  • @pheonixie Hahaha I think you need to read the earlier comments, I was talking about the High Kings not the Dubliners!! The original Dubliners are by far my favourite folk group. Luke Kelly was by far the greatest singer we've ever produced. Should've made my comment more clear, sorry :)

  • I am American with Irish roots. None of my family has seen Ireland since my grandpa Hogan left during the potato famine to become a farmer in western Maine. I want to return. Are there jobs? Should I learn Irish? Do you hate Americans? What towns or areas have low crime? Where is the most culture? if anyone is listening please help me out.

  • @LuckyLukeHogan Dunegal is most Cultured

    Dunegal Speaks most Irish

Yes there is Jobs in Ireland

    No we don't hate Americans

And the least Crime i couldn't tell yea that one sorry

    Personally i'm a Sligo Man

  • @LuckyLukeHogan no need to learn Irish , we like Americans , there are jobs in certain sectors , Galway has most culture and lowest crime rate plus Galway is a real party town , nice to hear of long lost cousins trying to return

  • Live music, slight mistakes and all, just adds to the performance. Brilliant.

  • the definitive version, second verse notwithstanding...

  • wow! i loooove luke kelly and all of the dubliners...

  • Over here across the pond, that is one of our favorite songs. Newfoundland.

  • @towpin Good to hear, I'm amazed this song has travelled across the Atlantic.

  • what a fucking hero, the head on him when he realises

  • who the heal gave this a tums down ? PURE AMAZING SONG

  • dude at 1:44 looks like rasputin ? ok haha

  • irish rap music :-)

  • Incredible song, always gets me fired up. <3

  • 1:22 "what the?" LOL

  • @greenace14 he sang a a verse 2 times the 1 at 1:18 and the one before

  • @croodoo2000 Aye, but it was at 1:22 that he realized that XD

  • @greenace14 i know i was just sayin

  • Although probably not as difficult as Rocky Road Luke's song Saxon Shilling is another bugger of a song to try to sing.

  • @DALCOLDARA 'Parcel of Rogues' would be another mental song to try to sing...... and Luke nailed that one as well.. to me that would be luke at his best.. Great Poem by Robbie Burns 1791...

  • @malachy1847 Ha ha there is a few of them.Maybe it's about time us lesser mortals resigned ourselves to just listening and keeping our gobs shut. There is not a singer on this planet that would do Luke justice.Luke at his best would be a very tough one.My favourite probably would be 'Unquiet Grave.

  • nothing like going down to me local having a few drinks and listening to the boys singing this.

  • Quite simply the hardest of Dubliners songs to sing. The breath control of Kelly just cant be repeated. Outstanding

  • The best of Lukes versions of this song, therefore the best version ever

  • 3 blind people tried to hit the like button and missed!!!! only explanation!

  • um awsome

  • the green fields of France

  • that was fuckin magical im so proud to be irish

  • rip luke ur legacy will never die

  • RIP Luke

  • its peter kay with a massive beard on the left :)

  • some tune

  • what a fantastic take on that awfully hard to sing tune...be enchanted by the only european lion!

  • does any one have the tabs for this song for my tenor banjo please

  • I'm sorry, in my first comment I said John Flanagan is an Irish writer but I got mixed up, he is Australian. I meant Michael Scott as an Irish writer.

  • It's a pity the green emerald isle is getting more and more build up with factories and houses, replacing the most valuable thing in the world, the Nature.

I hope I can visit Ireland before all of the places I've been told about are gone.

  • @08Shurtugal94 eh? Ireland is not covered in factories and houses. And don't worry our construction bubble burst in 2008 so it will be long before we cover the whole island :)

  • @08Shurtugal94

i think you'll be grand lol. this is the greatest country in the world
