This tells all about the game. In the video you just watched, the ant was infected by a fungus that normally only infects ants. That fungus grows on the ants brain, makes the climb to the top of a tree, and die. Once the ant is dead, the fungus releases spores that infect other ants. In the game, that's how everybody dies. This fungus evolves and jumps to humans where it infects and kills them. It is a very real fungus, although it hasn't jumped to any humans (yet).

If the Cordyceps fungus that is the basis for this game somehow evolved and damaged the parts of the brain that held reasoning and higher function, zombie apocalypse. The lack of immune response could be cause by certain chemical secretions some parasites can produce which trick the body into not recognizing it as a threat.

the bacteria iis based on one found in brazilian jungles, which control the ants brain, until the ant is in a suitable location (surrounded by vitamins and the like) then kills the ant, allowing the fungus to grow more and more, until it releases its spores again, so it 'captures' more ants.

@detonadostunados this was actually an original teaser trailer that naughty dog did before they released the real trailer & before they were completely letting anyone know what the game actually was.they used this footage of an ant with a fungal infection because the zombies were created from a type of fungus infecting the bodies of humans. the screaming at the end was to hint that this fungus ended up creating 'something' that was extremely dangerous(w/out letting the fans know what it was yet)

I remember when in Uncharted 1 Nate would catch a glimpse of an undead spaniard all the way off into the distance in an weird underground room. Up to that point in the game it had been completely realistic and I had no idea there would be these monsters. Nate was like: "What the HELL was that" and i was shitting my pants lol. Yeah, they're spores called cordyceps. It controls the ant's body to make it go to an exact height and temperature for it to release more spores.

OMFG stop saying it's a zombie game. It's essentially I AM LEGEND which actually would make a great game. Just because you're fighting an infected human population doesn't mean that it's zombies and you should turn away. When I think zombie, I think mindless, slow, easy to kill NOT SCARY things from early RE games, dead island, left 4 dead etc. In this game, they're fast, they look somewhat intelligent and they're down right creepy. The only similarity between this and the above-mentioned games is survival. Except THIS brings back the HORROR in the genre.

In theory, as part of a human population in a game, it would be quite similar to zombies, although potentially much more frightening considering that the fungus overtakes neural control.. meaning any bodily dis-figuration could be ignored up to a certain threshold.

Forcing them to crawl up to a high point near their colony, the Cordyceps then bursts from the ant's head and releases spores over the colony, infecting other ants and making them do the same thing. That is how it survives, they are not literal zombies, they do not eat other ants, but they are zombies in the sense an outside infection has taken control of their mind and body.

@junkers1337 What people are not taking into account is that the fungi is an organism, not just some bacteria, its main objective is to multiply, to create more of it's species. That can be linked with Zombies, BUT the thing no one is getting through their heads, is that the fungi physically transforms the host's body, literally using the host body to grow and mature, until it burst out.

It changes the physical appearance, this is not a zombie game, this is something else....
