when i was about 12, my dad had to wire some money to a jobsite, and back in 1983 you had to go downtown to do it. we piled in the car on friday evening, and drove to ashley st where the old jail was. my mom, and us kids waited in the car. he took care of business and we went to drive back to the southside. all the pimps and hos were out for the evening. we ended up going down church st, by the bus station.
@tranurse cont, as we sat at the light, some woman taps at the window and offers my dad entertainment for the grand total of 20 dollars. he looked at her, shocked as hell and reminded her that his wife and kids was in the car. she smiled at him and said, 'i don't mind.' my dad just looked at her stunned and said, 'no thanks, but you have a merry x-mas.' the light turned green and he floored it. i love jax.
The only problem with Jacksonville, besides the humidity, are the roads. It's pretty much the same throughout Florida, where we're always under construction and it takes 6 months too long to repave a simple road. And the roads that drastically need to be redone are ignored.
ahh, school 4 is amazing and no, its not haunted. been in there many times, around 2am or so. took lots of photos but the most that came out was orbs. and the rumors about ppl dying there are false. no reported deaths there, and only two reports of rape, which were between bums. i get no sense of spirits when i go in there. i went in every room, up and down, and the basement, even the roof. (:
i used to work at methodist, back before it was all shands. anyway, when i would go home in the morning, i would sometimes go down roosevelt, and take the buckman, and i lived over by powers, just because traffic at 95 and 10 was so bad.
school number 4 was an elementary school where a bunch of kids died well i been inside more then once and its not that scary unless you go in there without flashlights at night then its scary
Its called Annie Lytle, they shut it down for the building of I-95, all the stuff thats been going around about it beinh ''haunted'' is faulse. Recently, the roof calapsed so you can now see the very top rooms of the buidling
The bums burned the roof down. I was climbing over the fallen rafters back in 06 and a nail went thru my foot but i kept going. The place is not haunted.
cool video for someone who never has seen Jax. But I live here and theres really not much goin on, and theres an overload of crime. My advice would be keep driving
well, for years idiots have been running through the building. i've been waiting for one of them to set it on fire. if the roof has collapsed then they are gonna finally have to do something with it, even if that is to just tear it down
There was a fire in 1995 and the auditorium has caved in. When it was made of wood. (later brick and concrete) The buidling was designed by architect Rutledge Holmes and was almost industructable (at the time).
Theres been a battle of to demolish it and make condo's (etc, etc) or to preserve it for a landmark or even turn it to a home for senior citizens for over 50 years now.
i've been down this road many times! i love the part where you pass school 4(the old big abandoned brick building for those who don't know)never been but one day i will :]

oh and rocgollyg whats your problem why do you hate your own city?and ALOT of people support our football team and thats only gangs who always have shoot outs and stuff
im moving to j-ville my family lives there but i dont know if the kids there are cool and by that i mean nice cuz i have a lot of friends here and a paintball team and when i move i will be leaving all of that behind does anyone have any advice plz!!

we drive fine. just because there is a wreck at blanding and 103rd every morning. oh well, i was talking to my mama a little while ago, and some woman was driving the wrong direction down san jose.
hey i know where blanding and 103rd..used to live there, and maybe move there...my fiance is from there at blanding and collins... d only thing i dont like about jax is they dont have buses,i mean they do, but it takes forever to come..jax is nice though,
I lived in Jacksonville for 10 years and yes they do drive really bad. I lived in Washington DC for a few years and its worse but only because there are too many cars (many more people than in Jax). I now live in Moscow, Russia ans this place makes Jax look like a deserted country road. The roads are lawless. As much as I hated Hicksonville I would much rather drive there than here.
its a huge deal to people who plan on traveling that route who have never had the opportunity to visit the Sunshine State.... hell i am excited about my job relocation to Daytona Beach in 2 weeks from Northern Louisiana.
yeah it looks nothing like that any more... more water barrels, fhp, jso, and a few non drivers out there... thats when you know you're in jacksonville

Shes a beautiful city, aint she? But I will agree about the traffic, when WAS this? Ive been here a long time and never saw it that empty at "difunction junction" I95 & I10.
AH, a saturday. One thing about this town, the average age is young and they party hard, so no one gets out and about early on the weekends, they partied to damn much the night before. lol
LOL I work right south of blanding and 103rd, and yes, still going on at least 3 times a week. Ive never heard it called Mix Master, Ive heard "dyfunction junction"... both are appropriate as hell lol.

i've walked around school 4, ut have never been in it. i heard they were going to turn it into condos, like they did with the old san marco school.

i have but they cant turn it into condos b/c it is part of the historial society and cause they cant tear it down becaue of the highway by it

it's a shame it is just going to sit there empty. i wouldn't be surprised if one of these days some idiot doesn't set it on fire.
