  • Yeah, this is a good time to go out with a caulk gun and caulk any windows where you feel a draft coming in.

  • that guy needs to learn to caulk.... .then again most people including a lot of pros don't know how.. Why did they assume most people have tilt in windows?

  • Great info ... If you need window in Denver visit us Denverhomeroofing

  • Quick & Sweet.

  • 1 on the easy scale .. ya right, not with my circa 1937 house, w/ termite damage to fix as well

  • Andersen and American Craftsman are the only brands I trust. You'll never see anything else on my house unless if I buy one that has it.

  • every time i go into home depo the people there never smile and they seem to hate there job. Its like asking a question just pisses them off...

  • Where is the flashing? Where is the drain mat? Where is the building wrap?

  • Wow! This video really helped with my window replacement. I don't know what all you guys are complaining about. I did mine in about an hour and checked it with an heat laser gun... no leaks at all. I think the contractors who charge $1,000s of dollars just are worried these kinds of secrets will get out. Proud DIY home owner here. Thanks Home-D! More saving means more doing!

  • If people didn't put up these rediculous how to vidios, then proffesionals would be out of work. Thanks to the How Not to do its out there!

  • Do Not Follow this install procedure. You may as well not even bought new windows because with no insulation you will still have air infiltration.

  • But before you do all that pay an arm and a leg before you leave the store and wait for us to call you.

  • What a waste of a video, oh its that simple to take out a window? maybe if its a brand new one like the one they showed. Try a 50 year old window with lots of paint, screw heads that are painted over with 3 coats of paint! What about leveling and checking for plumb. this was nothing more than a commercial!

  • I like how they remove a brand new window, making it look so simple. mine didnt comeut that easy. Lots of old paint, screws, old wood to deal with. And its more like a 3 or 4 on a scale, certainly not a 1!

  • I am a novice when it comes to window replacement..I have a large living room picture window I'd like to replace..I want the center window to be able to open..so I am wondering if I remove this window sized 84" long and 54" high..could I purchase 3 seperate windows with a size that is 84x54 by being 28" x 54" each? this size is a double hung available at Home Depot. Or do I need to order this window from the manufacturer so all 3 windows can be welded together to make 1 large window

  • I work for Home Depot and I would think that we as a company would have something informative. But this video blows. Lets start fist by removing the old window. Ah yeah that would be the most important part. If you live in a house with no windows then this video is great for you. :)

  • Window Land Company is the best window company ever.

  • Don't forget lack of flashing.

  • Everything is wrong about this, no plumbing, leveling, square checking, and shimming.. WTF

Also this is in no way a real world senior, show a old house with old single pane windows fully trimmed out

  • Not even in a new home, have I had such luck! did you see how tight that window fit! I would use shims and like you said level!

the hole thing is bull shit! Boycott the home depot for firing a man for wearing a button that read "In God We Trust!". Thanks Fox News for proclaiming the truth!

  • Fox News!?, oh god, lets not even go there

  • what the hell does that have to do with home depot???

  • holy cow someone has had too much coolaid, what are you smoking man

  • Exactly..

  • Have to agree, this is one booogus video! Another fine example of HD "expertise".

  • Why would you replace the first window in this video? it looks perfect and exactly like the second one? if a window is broken replace the glass, not the entire frame!!!

  • Yeah, right, and there's NO WAY those old wood windows of yours have been painted shut for the last 30 fuckin' years.

A ONE on the difficulty scale?! LMFAO - that motherfucker's been smoking way too much crack.

  • I like it when he says : this will be a scale of 1, What a joke.

  • Leave it to Home Depot to once again offer the misconception on how easy it is to install a window in 1:32.....No leveling,no insulation,no shimming, piss poor caulking....No problem...

You can do it,we can help.....Continue to amaze!

  • Home depot id just trying to make it look easy so you go out and buy their windows and then when you try and install them and mess it up you call HD and have them send out one of their install crews and beat you out of more money....and yeah it not a 1 on a 1-5 scale it's can be tricky to do this right

  • how about leveling

  • This is not how to install a replace ment window unless its the same window. If so, where is the bead of caulk you have to cut out. If your installing it in an existing frame then the windowis going to me smaller. this not a how-to-video. maybe a how to confuse the crap out people who are novice to the process. and it is actually probaly a 4 on the difficult level. Most homes are either old metal windows or 50+ year old wood.

  • @ryleykari Thats about right.... as a professional window installer. I can tell you that replacing ANY window is not a 1. What they were showing was a "pocket" replacement. Where they leave the existing frame in place and just add a window in the frame only removing the sash. Not a great way in replacement IMO. Only full frame replacement do you get the full benefits or upgrading to a more efficient window.
