  • Arany is that your voice? If so, you have one of the most beautiful voices i have ever heard! I love all your videos btw.

  • @akropiss nice the scots really like the french.....really like them as a country they admire.

  • Imádom a zenéidet! :) Ha adnál ki cd-t tuti vennék, szóval megkereshetnél egy lemezkiadót!:)

  • @raimhol Adott ki cd-t. A neten lehet megvenni.

  • this is breathtalking... full of atmosphere, saddness, battle-roar...

  • Traumhaft , eines deiner besten Lieder ;)

  • Salutation from france scottish brother's ! Long live to the Auld alliance !!

  • @gogole888 Down with godons

  • iv love this song as long as i no

  • Aran you've done it again sa :)

  • well done...especially the pictures are utterly first class

I love scotland and I always will

but I'm sorry... I'd love to see this pictures on a song of the corries (which is the best version by far) and there will never be a better one

  • Hello - I love this -reminds me of our visit to Scotland in 2004. - and my husbands first time home since he immigrated in 1964!! I really wanted to get a bit of background on mandolin, which I am thinking of learning - it it easier to learn than guitar, which I learnt many years ago? Regards Jeanette McL.

  • Scotland :) I love this place, hough never been there

  • From OED:

    cockalorum

    colloq.

Applied to a person: = Little or young cock, bantam; self-important little man.

c1715 Jacobite Minstrelsy (1829) 47 Hey for Sandy Don! Hey for Cockolorum! Hey for Bobbing John, And his Highland quorum! [Cockolorum means the Marquis of Huntly, whose father, the Duke of Gordon, was called Cock of the North.]

    Hope that helps.

  • What does "Cockolorum" mean??'

  • Gorgeous pictures. What's a Joccobite? I know nothing of Scottish history :( Something with King James right?

  • @DryBONESreborn A jacobite is someone who supported king james in the nine years war. He was the rightful king of england, scotland nd ireland but because he was catholic nd tried 2 promote religous equality he was unpopular nd was eventually deposed so his protestant cusin cud get the throne he fought in a civil war but was defeated by william of orange at the Boyne in ireland

  • why does it say france in the title.

  • Because the exiled Scots kings of the Stuart line found refuge in France - this was the "Auld Alliance" - two countries with a deadly enemy - England.

  • @cassubia oh ok thank you

  • What a gorgeous country...and the Music!!!

    Great:-)

  • he's obvioulsy heard the steeleye span version

  • affa gweed bit' eit seem's lyke eit's Anglo saxon fowk eit's singin eit!

    Gordon

  • OK, I tried wrestling my reply into Scots, but has wir ain lied even got a word for Magyar?

Anyway, Mr. Arany's Magyar, not Anglo. I think he did a nice enough job on the vocal to justify an exception to Dick Gaughan's rule of "never try to sing a folk song in other than your own accent". I like how he did the 'r' sound, which is notoriously difficult to do in anything but your own first language.

Bottom line, I think Arany Zoltán has a terrific ear both for music and for language.

  • Thanks for your reply fmrelay my friend' and Aye' eit weis singit affa gweed fur aa aat maitter!!

    Gordon

  • fmrelay - *laugh* good thing Arany Zoltan did a teddybear version. Hungars are fighters - and Hungar cavalry combined with Hieland swordsmen...my bets would not be on the redcoats.

  • now...scotland is my dream destination!

  • wwooooooow !

  • This is an excellent version

  • the landscapes are awesome!

  • The music is excellent--the best version I've heard--but the vocal....sorry, but Maddy Prior is tops with this one.

  • Tetszik a zene, ha te játszotted, még jobb! :-)

  • Brilliants pictures. Lovely music!! K

  • Really good pardoning fake Scottish accent - excellent pictures. A certain penchant for Eilean Donan Castle?

Like the broad cross European folk of aranzoltan. Just back from Budapest - there was a bit of a folk festival going on in the square, Boy do they know how to play a whistle.

  • @AlexanderWilkinson Brilliant, dear sir ! I admire your strong views about music and culture,

but, may I regret that, your message does not tell much about courtesy !

    Raibeart Piobaire

  • @RC93PIOB

Sorry you are offended - not my intention. Got a nice friendly message from Zoltan so he's OK with it which is the main thing.
