Has anyone beside me noticed that insulting, vulgar comments are 90% of the time posted by users with 0 videos? They sign-up a quick gray channel with no plans to ever contribute videos. They just want to be able to insult those of us who work at this a little, with nothing to back it up. I think this is what inspired Facebook or Twitter. Apple would be a bit more ecological if their products were a bit more modular. My itouch cannot upgrade the memory or change the battery, the hope being that if I want more memory or the battery goes bad, I will just buy a new one instead of just buying more memory or a new battery and keeping the old one. Apple wants as much planned obsolescence as possible so it can make as many as possible...and then we have to throw away as many as possible.

I think the idea of being green is to consider that our species may have an increasing overall mortality rate or even become extinct if we abuse the planets resources. Not just one specific stat as bad your example is. I really don't think that your implied correlation being green and being completely inconsiderate of worldwide child starvation is accurate. There is no Mac that is $4500. You can buy four Macbooks for that price. The most expensive Mac is the Xserve computer. It is $3000 and it's for industrial use.

I got my Mac for around $1100. Most macs are priced reasonably but I agree, they could drop the prices a bit.
