It always amazes me how some people dislike videos like this. Videos presenting you with facts that contradict the common view on a subject. It's astounding to me that people will react with disapproval to enlightenment in almost every case, luckily the majority does't but still. Even if you think there are other things speaking in favor of sexism, you can hardly disagree with the facts presented by Warren Farrel in this video and that these facts matter in the discussion on gender equality.
@ItsTheTransmission Sounds like someone is operating more on feeling than facts.Again, this "patriarchy" that you refer to is non-existent in the sense that you mean it. Go attack another straw man.
5:20 why was he pleased, he just said as you line up all the variables between men and women, women earn more. thats discrimination. as you line up the variables the pay should be equal, not in womens favor. its only when the variables are unequal should the pay also be unequal. so what is he 'pleased' about. the world isnt fairer.
Farrell, that is all fine and swell that that is YOUR definition. You can make up shit all you want, but "control over one's life" is not the accepted sociological and social psychological definition of power. The accepted definition of power, is that power is social influence. Nothing to do with "control over one's life."
First question:How would it affect the world if men could have children?
My answer: Technologically, that is much closer to happening than most realize or that women would like. Women will become nearly obsolete. Once this is combined with a convincing robotic automaton capable of providing sex, women will get their wish: A world to their own without men. It will be a hoot to watch women mine their own coal and drill for their own oil and build their own buildings and collect their own garbage.
I see a lot of what he talks about in my field (computer science). It's rare for me to have more then 2 women within any of my classes... Actually one of my present classes (Computational Models) literally has NO women students in a class of 30-40 students.
It's somewhat of a reoccurring joke among my peers: What a sausage fest the entire computer science and engineering as a whole is.

To summarize this enlightening series:
Women earn less because they are girlie-men. :)

@mindprism Having paid attention up to this point, I'd say that's actually a pretty fair assessment

@mindprism Or maybe men earn more because women have a tendency to take the easy way out

That was a dumb question. If men could have children would that effect your data. She wasted her time and sounded very dumb.

@smoking1212 - there are no dumb questions it just depends on context.

@tjmac7, there are no stupid questions, only stupid people. :-D

@smoking1212, yeah, the fat blond's question made her sound really dumb. Way to keep the questions rooted in reality, you know? lol
But to answer her question, if men could squeeze out kids, then there would be one gender instead of two. Helloooo.

I will be using that line about teachers and trash collectors. The doctors argument is well-known...and extremely accurate.

A man is successful if he makes more money than his wife can spend. A woman is successful if she finds such a man.

If men could have children there wouldn't be a difference between men and women.
