actually yes, a p80 is goo for a rookie. once you get the hang of what your doing and your taking really good photos with p80. then you can move to an slr. An slr does take better pictures than a p80 but you dont need that kind of quality if your a starter.
the p80 is better if you do not want to spend the money on a DSLR because the cheapest DSLR i have seen is $500 and i have found the p80 for as cheap as $250 but based on quality, the DSLR's are much better
I just bought the P80 and let me tell you its amazing. Good review, wish I would have seen it before I bought the camera- would have saved me some research lol
Dam! That is one elegant young woman. It is no wonder they placed her up to this review. Amazingly so, ...I totally forget as to what she was demonstrating when the video stopped.
the same for 18x zoom :) its simply unreal to build lens good enough to transmit that amount of resolutin in such a zoom range to CCD that smaaaaaaaal :)
Actually, the full 18x zoom with the ISO at 64 takes awesome pictures. Hardly unusable. However, the ISO of 6400 is just unreal, the noise is unbelievable, even with noise reduction. Obviously it won't beat a DSLR, but for those looking to not spend money on a professional grade camera that you will use for just leisure, the P80 is a much better choice.
Your ssssssssszzzz really hurtsssss!

True, but you will quickly out grow the p80. Then you'll be in the hole for your DSLR fund.

No, get a nikon d40 or a canon Rebel xs. Those are far better just because they're DSLRs

Can you please post a link with the sample photos? You'll be one of the first people in the world to post sample photos. It'd be greatly appreciated!

I really hope that the P80 will be good.
I have to say that this kat isn't the best person to showcase cameras.

I'm jonesing for the P80 quite badly now, thanks!
And yes, Kat makes an appealing case.
