I find it utterly unbelieveable that one of the most elegant and romantic movies of all time is not available on DVD - The Mississippi Gambler. Tyrone and Piper Laurie were spectacular.
None of the men on the screen today are photogenic. They also do not display any depth in their acting. Note the superb JAMES MASON, who was an actor who surpassed any of the current crop
I loved seeing Tyrone Power in Marie Antoinette opposite Norma Shearer. This version of that film is still my favorite. He was very charismatic and handsome.
I stopped at 4:08 The girl Ty is smiling so beatifically with, is an actress named Marjorie Weaver, from a pretty-good little film called "Second Honeymoon". This was only Ty's second-year as a contract player, and 20th Century-Fox's third as a corporate entity so everyone was young and just-beginning and the Hollywood-system was at it's zenith and Roosevelt had just been re-elected and a bird named Hitler was far far away -- and doesn't this captured-moment just encompass all that? R.J.
their manner of dress wearing baggy pants shirts that are to big..ect plus unkempt hair cuts. These men of the 30,s had class combined with dignity and self respect. There
well dressed and groomed figures demanded attention and admiration. Hopefully this madness of fashion will slowly pass away.
bscarlette: Not just one of the handsome actors of the 30's - THE *handsomest of that era & probably one of the handsomest of ALL time! Robert Taylor is a close second & the inimitable Cary Grant! All were impeccably dressed and coiffed and REAL men!
Today's star close to them (imo) is Jon Hamm in AMCtv's "Mad Men"/ a view of the early 60's
when the 'beat generation' & "free" everything took over what true fashion is!
The handsomest man who ever lived.

There is a mexican actor, Edurado Versastegui, that reminds a lot of Tyrone Powers in his talent, charisma, and impossible beauty.

Once again great footage of a truly Handsome man and Star. He is perhaps one of the most photogenic male stars of the 30, to 40,s
a emblem forever on how a man should look.
No Question he had it all.

Now that is how a man should look. Today's men are not attractive at all.

I totally agree with you Jess06` sadly todays
men have no idea of what true masculinity is,
their manner of dress wearing baggy pants shirts that are to big..ect plus unkempt hair cuts. These men of the 30,s had class combined with dignity and self respect. There
well dressed and groomed figures demanded attention and admiration. Hopefully this madness of fashion will slowly pass away.
