The firts classic players that came out had original USA custom shop 69 pickups (with the AY initials). Then they switched to MIM pickups with the same specs I guess. I wonder how that affected the tone. I have one of the first ones with custom shop pickups.
AMERICAN STANDARDS RULE BIGTIME, I have 3, and a strat plus, would never have anything less than a usa standard, when I got my first one, the mexico strat got sold asap, no comparison amn
great video shoot/production work! perfect angle of the demo player, hq footage, great sound, nice and simple delivery, not to mention the wonderful playing that truly demo the guitar's capability~ great job, mate!
@callumazoo11 mexican strat. you're getting similar sounds with single coil pickups as you would with two humbuckers, except with the les paul you're not getting the tremolo bridge for whammy sounding riffs. and strats are much more comfortable and just look awesome
Sad day it is when the mexican strat beat the hell out of the usa ones! Not only do they beat them, but they beat them by a mile on sound, looks and feel! Only an idiot would spend 3 times more to get 2 times less! :) That road-worn takes a bit of beating for anybody's money! The classic player is very nice too, but I'd have the sunburst model of this one over the blue colour. Great comparison.!
@GuitarPlayerGeo whats funny is the roadworn is actually more then the american special strat and it is the exact same price as the american standard. Yes the pickups are nice but you can't beat us quality when its the same price.
How the hell do you get that poping sound!? i need to knooowww! its like my idea tone but i dunno how to go about getting it!!!!! Somebody! PLEASE HELP ME :'(
@TheFonixMan that is not true i have an american standard and the white strat is the same as my black one, it even has an american standard sticker on it
classic series 60stratocaster all the way the best strat ever, great neck and finish, and the feeling of a real strat, and obviously the price, something like a half of a standard american, mexican all the way!!!
both the usa and mexican strats sound great. but the usa sounds better. that doesnt mean that the mexican isn't any good. they sound great actually. usa strats are just a little better
American standard sound best to me,,, loads of contrast in articulation between the pick up positions..... Then I like the Road worn,,,,, the american special sounds boring... the American standard really sounds good dirtied up too. The player strat is good for an old fashioned tone,,,,, but sounds a little too country.... The mexican basic one is actually lovely too...
@steve1969pierce I agree it sounds like from your opinion you like the most underwound sounding ones. i prefer the road worn cause of how fat it sounds while still sounding like a strat.
To follow up, I bought a white Mexican Stratocaster, sorry not from Nevada Music UK as I'm in the States. Loving it, glad I did. Great demos, thanks for putting these up and helping me with my decision. :)
hey i was wonder if you can teach me how to play guitar? i can play a lil but i SUCK S.U.C.K and i want to play better.. like you! i have a american 60's vid fender squier strat but i want to be better and you know show off to my friends soo please and thank you if you do teach me how to play guitar better! your really really good!
The road worn MIM strat sounds fantastic in this vid and real life. Just played one at a local music store and I am tempted to grab it... the first American strat he plays has some definitely offensive high frequencies.. at least with that amp. Great comparison!
i have a question: i'm looking for a new guitar, i have 2 year experience and i mainly play red hot chili peppers and muse, I now have a fender squier strat but i'm thinking of buying a fender standard stratocaster or a standard telecaster both around 500$ but wich would be better for me? strat or tele? thanks i'm pretty much a guitar noob when it comes to these kinda things
I believe it is physically and utterly impossible to play any type of blues without making silly faces. I do it, you do it, all of us do it. I see people even make the faces while listening to us play it. LOL.
Being the owner of a roadworn 50's and a us standard strat also with maple board I must sadly agree with this video that the new upgraded MIM's are very good. I do slightly prefer the vintage tone of the roadworns pick-ups, but for playability the MIM seems to beat all of them. This might be an individual thing as I find the fret size along with the thin lacquer on the MIMs board to add up to the perfect height. Those ceramic P/U's also make for a bit more compression, and thus easier playing.
To my ears I loved the sound that came from the 60s road worn sunburst strat.I thought the clean was clear and I thought when he added dirt the pickups that it has could handle it with ease.It just had a sound I liked.
@MwPrice102 there is no way u have played one then.....these things feel way better than any other guitar, u can play super fast because of the less gloss (friction) restriction.
@fiatvauxhall like, i understand what fender are trying to do with the roadworn series, cause they do sound really good. but the thought of paying someone else to beat up my guitar just annoys me, cause that could be something i could do and personalize MY guitar. idk...
the american strat sounds a little brighter and thicker. the comparison is kinda' bias(don't know what word to use LOL) coz' mexico has a maple neck and the america has rosewood.
Mexican made standard Stratocasters are just that, standard. There's absolutely nothing special about them, It's the most affordable way to get a Fender logo on your headstock. The good thing about Mexican standard Strats is that they're quality instruments, and because they're so bland, they're extremely easy to customize. I have one and I put a set of Custom Shop Texas Special Pickups in it and it sounds better than a lot of USA Strats I've played.
"Road Worn"? Who's idiotic idea was it to sell a guitar pre-fucked? There is no goddamned "MOJO" in taking a belt sander to a guitar or baking it in heat lamps to artificailly fade the finnish. This so-called mojo is only obtained with years of your own playing and general neglect of care for your instrument. Besides, beating the shit out of a guitar and doing things to make it LOOK older does NOT make it sound better. Just a word to the wise for anyone stupid enough to buy into this "RW" BS!
@Xcorgi It is not so idiotic as you think. I tried the thing out in a shop. It really feels like a well played guitar. The back of the neck is stripped and it feels very comfortable. I played it against a american standard and for me it sounded better. It is a really good guitar.
I have toured the Ensenda factory. . the workers love their jobs and take great pride in their work. I came away very impressed. At the time, about 5 years ago they were putting out 525 guitars a day.
I just love the sound of the 60s style strat. Especially the neck pickup. I'd love to hear one of the classic player or the road worn with some Seymour Duncan SSL-1s or the Antiquity II. Those PUPs just sound do good.
@blahblahblah21702 yep, America, the place where the USA are. but also Canada and Mexico (i'm not going further south, the list is way too long). learn geography
@eloelo1984 bro i was kidding its a line from the movie Team America. and I went to middle school in Korea I can point out on a map and name the capital of every country in the world it was more a mockery of rednecks and such.
@eloelo1984 and if u didnt get why going to school in south korea makes a difference, they actually teach geography unlike here in "leave no child a dime" America
@eloelo1984 Wrong ... The continents are called "north america", "central america", and "south america", "america" is a nick name for "united states of america", in the same way that in brazil we call "xicana" about mexican Fenders, is just a nick name and is not about the continent
@thehoodatron nope, people from the USA are United Staters, or however you might want to call it. people from mexico are MEXICAN. And people from any part of America (USA, Canada, Mexico, Chile, or whatever American country you want to name) are AMERICAN.
Thus, people from the USA are always American people, but AMerican people aren't always from the USA.
Road Worn takes the win for me. I've tryed a few of those in shops and Its amazing to see how much "mojo" there can be in a brand new intrument. Fender really did it with the Road Worn series... 2nd place goes to the US Special HSS just because I have a thing for HSS strats ;)
