Why did she have to go outside of the USA to get this treatment? Is there a law banning stem cell research and/or treatments inside the USA? If so, what law is it?
I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to meet Bob Harman, Vet-Stem CEO and talk about my personal experiences. As I understand it, much of the same principles with stem cells for animal treatments are in close relation to treatments that may in fact one day be used here in the US for the treatment of many human diseases. The treatment gave me a second chance at life without a doubt! I am excited to see the progress of stem cells and regenerative medicine here in the US.

Mesenchymal Stem Cells: Mechanisms of Inflammation.

In adults, human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) are found in vivo at low frequency and are defined by their capacity to differentiate into bone, cartilage, and adipose tissue, depending on the stimuli and culture conditions under which they are expanded.
@stemcellscientist That is a very good point. No one is saying that this is "the cure", however given that we have already published the rationale behind this, as well as treated over 200 multiple sclerosis patients, as well as published some of the followup on the original group of patients treated, I would say that we are cautiously optimistic.
