Just listening to you brings a smile on my face :) wanted to know that after mixing the coconut in the mixer is it supposed to become smooth or that coconut crunch remains?
This shrimp curry is just awesome!! Made it today. It was super simple and super yummy. The tip of grinding the raw prawns into the coconut paste made a huge impact. Thanks so much chef! Waiting to see some new videos from you... it's been ages since you posted a new video...
u got a secret mate.. will try it for sure and post an honest comment ! Cause i also love cooking.. and they look delicious by the way you have cooked them... Cheers..
Hey I tried making this recipe and it tasted fabulous !! I watch your videos regularly and love the special cooking tips that you give ...Thanks a lottt :)
@afgdiamondz I'm not a chef :) but in coastal indian cuisine (konkan coast) coconut is quite important in these types of curries with meat or seafood. If you leave out the coconut, it's not going to taste the same. Also if you live abroad like me and it's difficult to get fresh coconut, you can use coconut milk and add it towards the end. it's not the same but it's a compromise :)
@afgdiamondz Im from Goa, and let me tell you. Coconut plays the most important role in this dish. the minute you leave out the coconut, simply makes the dish another Prawns curry or masala..
Sanjay, dont mind the comments of some jerks out here who tease your accent/expressions/or that you said goanese instead of goan. What does it matter? Not everyone can be a master of all languages....after all your native is not english....moreover you are a chef not some literary professor. You rock and your recepies rock! Keep up the great work.
hey chef, you are adding salt while sauteing onion and after that in all your recipe you dont add salt as required to the portion you are using, you are intend to teach your skills to others,i appreciate that, but after completing the dish i hate your expression ha,oh and all that......afterall you know the food with out salt goes to bin.
@nather6 Dear ignorant fool, do you know world history? What did you learn in school?. Goa is a part of India where the protugese ruled. They have fantastic food. So just like Punjabi or tamil food we in India say Goanese food. Try to travel and visit these places. or google GOA.
@tvm19891992 I am a native of Goa. It is Goan and not Goanese.
Know you facts before you talk. Ignorant people like you do not know the difference. You should be the one Googling and travelling instead of talking crap.
@nather6 If you have addressed yourself as a Goan, I would not have replied. However, I would point out that your language skill is so low. WTF- is that how you people speak in your home?. Any way I enjoyed Goan shrimp curry. How about you?
This was my first major dish and it turned out fantastic. The only downside was that I did not grind the coconut soft enough so I ended up with slightly edible bits of curry. Overall though, I am extremely satisfied with the result and my family now expects me to don the apron. Hehe.
vinegar? sugar? coriander leaves? grated coconut? chopped tomatoes? tumeric powder? oh I so want to make this but prob need these measurements to be accurate as can see a disaster happening?? :*( did everyone else guess??
It turned out just awesome. I made a shrimp curry first time in my life and got complimented by a Goanese! Adding shrimp to the masla made a real difference. Thanks !!!
It turned out just awesome. I made a shrimp curry first time in my life and got complimented by a Goanese! Adding shrimp to the masla made a real difference. Thanks !!!

Will be happy to share my recipe for an authentic Goan Fish (any seafood) curry if you'll email me at mike2000 at shaw dot ca - phonetic to kill the email grabbers on YT.
Not to be overly critical, but FIRSTLY the word “Goanese” is misnomer. Pls don’t use it. The correct word is Goan.
Secondly an authentic one does NOT use the coconut itself but the juice or (in North America) coconut milk. Also itwill NOT have any Water, tomatoes, coriander leaves, cinnamon or Garam Masala. Missing ingredients in your recipe are: Kokum( a tangy fruit dried) or dried mango slices.

if this poor guy was in ignorant tornto he'd be put in jail for being so annimated or harassed though media and ignorant population, upon toronto police instigation coz obviously he has something to do with some shooting, look at how annimated his body language is. diversity.
Hey this recipe sounds great and I can't wait to try it out! However I want to point out that (as far as I know) the term "Goanese" is kinda incorrect, just Goan/Goans is good. But your trick of blending shrimp into the curry paste sounds so good! :D
1. I sauted onions till they are brown and then I made the onion paste in the blender because I like fine paste in gravy.
2. Instead of putting coriander as a garnish after the dish is done, I blended it with the "Nice Paste". It gives the paste a little bit green color and the taste of coriander blends with all other ingredients.
i tried this recepie now and i would give 6 /10 may be i should eat it with naan chapathi ... or jeera pulav then it would be much better then plain rice .;) anyway u r too good cook....thanks chef
awesome video, thanks. loved the tip on blending the shrimp into your paste. also, @ chainkiller187, yeah he is speaking english not german. Thats your problem dude.
@ChainKiller187 I'm pretty sure over a 120,000 people had no trouble understanding him. Is it that you have a poor grasp of the English language? Or is he narrating too fast? are you unfamiliar with the ingredients?

i love the way the chef expresses his food , his passion shows in his love for his dish .....it makes it sound true that when u cook with love and passion there is a special taste to the ingredients added ....nice , very nice
I tried this recipe & my hubby told me that it was better than any shrimp dish he has ever eaten....thanks a ton for ur recipes.....ur the best Sanjay!
Tried it at home, Super one, it has the real shrimp flavor.... This has been added into my weekly recipe. Thanks you sooo much for this wonderful recipe.
The idea of blending the shrimp into the the paste is a taste transitioning technique with many application in all kinds of recipes. The reason this is done is to link the sauce to the shrimp so that your palate in going from the shrimp to the sauce has a smooth integrated transition. Think of it as smoothing the road between two taste structures. Its a smart idea when you are cooking something for a brief period of time, such as shrimp or calamari, in a sauce that has already been made.

Thank you any ways, for all the useful tips you give in your show.
you are great I love the secret of blending few shrimp I was cooking thai shrimp curry I made the sauce but I changed my mind I am going strait to cook that great recipty thank you
The shrimp won't become soggy would it? I thought I saute the shrimp first so that it becomes firm before I add it to the curry.. Noone likes soggy shrimp..
I tried this and I now I know what you are talking about Sanjay!!
You have to try the recipe step by step without any mistakes, and my advice is use the right proportions, if you gut says some ingredient is too much, reduce the quantity , you will get the idea while doing it, just follow the video...! it will truly be heaven, it was heaven for me!!!! wow
To the person who said the shrimp was chewy -- that is because you are adding it too soon. Wait till the masala is ready. Be patient. Then add Shrimp. Don't overcook.
Very nice presentation! Keep it up! Creme also will work. I always use creme and also delicious. Looks delicious!. My goan friend always prepare this deliciouse recipe. Thanks for posting.

To the person who said the shrimp was chewy -- that is because you are adding it too soon. Wait till the masala is ready. Be patient. Then add Shrimp. Don't overcook.

Hi,
I have a question to you.

Thanks
