  • April 15th & 16th - Join the national "Bike It Or Hike It" campaign. Leave your cars at home as much as you possibly can.

  • Riding a bicycle to work is excent. I love feeling arriving to work feeling pumped up. I made a video of my trip to work in the morning on my YouTube account. People who enjoy riding a bicycle to work would probably also enjoy a trip to the groceries store aswell. Not being able to take as many groceries as you normally would (with a car) has it's advantages too.

  • hell ya... I work at 5:30 am

If i Leave at 4:45 I think I can get there at exact time.

I usually run farther by foot, but I can kill 2 stones with one bird.

the birds are coming for revenge

  • we are requiring a more secure storage for our bicycles

visit Bikebox Canada.com for more information

on the greenest way to store bicycles

  • Nice Boston! you get so many benefits from using bicykles to commute . as individuals and society

  • I want to switch my transportation from a car to a bike. but the thing is I live in British Colombia, so it rains like 10 months a year if you know what I mean.

my inquiry is what could the best bike to pick according to price and comfortability wise for a daily use to university, and what to wear to prevent my self from soaking under the rain ?

    thanks for you help.

  • I am a woman and I am not afraid. I have not driven since 2003. I do not miss it. My husband does talk about getting a car. I am not too keen on the idea.

  • sounds like you have been riding forever. I've just started to get back into the zone but i feel that when im riding im racing. im trying to get somewhere really fast and i don't pace myself and i keep thinking that everyone else is better then me and can beat me. I don't know where im getting at, but was this the same for you when you started riding? Im comparing myself to the tour de france racers or the road bike riders in the city and i keep thinking that i have to be better then them.

  • crime way to high, you wouldnt catch me even walking across the street to the store

  • you think riding a motorcycle is dangerous? People never even see bicycles. I got wacked by a side view mirror - heard it bounce and the guy never even stopped.

  • switching from car to bike is difficult but keep at it...I switched... I have an electric bike...actually I'm about to build my 2nd electric bike...I bought an $80 12 mm chain to secure it...the bike goes 30 mph on electricity, it's pretty fast and it's fun

  • Can' do it! The fucking Lousianans that think they know how to drive will run me over! The same ones that turn right from the left lane in front of city buses, every day!

  • this is why America will never stop depending on oil. we are so fucking lazy and most people find it embarrassing to ride a bike.

  • Lazy huh, let's see you ride 35 miles one way or in some case 85 miles one way on a bike. Come on lazy step up or stfu.

  • how about you chill out i seriously doubt he was referring to every non-biker as lazy

  • Burgle--If someone puts out a blanket statement such as muieres without being a little more definitive, they should expect comments like he recieved. Angleboots comment is justifiable, besides that I seriously doubt muire does anything other than look at a bicycle.

  • Yes, ride your bike. Get used to it. NWO doesn't allow for independence such as owning cars. Gas will so expensive (even w/fuel efficency) few will be able to afford cars. Howie Dean, former chair of DNC, says capitalism should end....

  • Definitely going to buy a used bike and start biking to places that I really don't need a car to get to :)

  • @SheSaid333 lol, im two years late with this, but its good to see someone with the right mindset. I bike 20 miles (which is absolutely nothing) to work, and its wonderful to know that im absolutely doing a wonderful thing for my body, and earning money at the same time.

  • I bike around my neighborhood a lot. It's a great way to get out of the house, move around without being hard on your joints, and burn some calories!

  • Men like sweaty women! Beats an obese chick anyday.

  • I cycle to school everyday

  • When I bike, I'm using 200 lbs (me + bike) to propel 180 lbs. When I drive, I'm using 2 tons (3700-lb coupe + me) to propel 180 lbs.

If more people understood this or cared, they wouldn't be driving as inefficiently, aggressively, and as if everyone else was in their way. Alas, I think I'm just preaching to the choir here...

  • Biking, especially in headwinds and/or up slight inclines, opens your eyes to the dirt cheap power of gasoline and how we squander it.

Gas has 125 megajoules/gal, and only 20% of it is actually used to run our internal combustion engines and propel us. The rest is wasted as heat, exhaust, and noise.

  • Id love to bike to work and school. but sadly i their too far from where i live...so i HAVE to drive =/ buut i do carpool =]

  • I ride my bike to work and school often even though I live in orange county, cali ...it's not very common , everyone has a car and its freakin hot

  • I bike all the time specially that I work with kids that are part of a cycling team on July 12 we have a Bike-a-thon for cancer we may go as far as 100 miles if no 64 miles hope that you like the video of the kids that I work with that I send to this web site. Thanks

  • A two mile commute to work would be awesome. Maybe one day...

  • I want to see Sarah ride a bike in her sexy summer bikini

  • I ride my bike to work 5 miles each way. It only takes about 25 mins to get to work and I'm not exactly speedy. It's quicker for me than any other form of transport. I would consider anything up to about 10 miles doable for most people. It gives me super-toned legs and butt as well even though I don't feel like I'm making much of an effort. Beats the gym!

  • Sarah I wanna marry you...

  • i use my bike all the time at UNI

however, my more hardcore gym is a 15-20min drive there.. and back.

But, the grocery store is literally right by my gym... so i save that trip.

My car is a necessity... until they get some kettlebells, bumper plates, and a separate lifting area in my billion dollar gym(so sad, i kno)... so many machines... so little effort by everyone:(

  • i ride to school every day. 14 miles one way. its hard at first but its incredibly rewarding. people tell me im crazy but you have no idea how rewarding it is :D free excersise, and saving cash on a car? why wouldnt everyone ride a bike.

  • I rode my bike today. No work... but I DID ride my bike. Yeaay!

  • my work is around the corner so i just walk there, but i ride my bike to school, it gives me that extra exercise, i may not do that day

  • To get to work it would be 2 miles one way. Maybe I should invest in a bike.. ??

  • 2 mi is very doable, but please consider whether your route is safe or hairy or not (too much traffic, too secluded, etc). Also, safety equipment like helmet, reflective vest, lights, gloves (for spills!), tube patches, a pump and/or compact pump is highly recommended. GL

  • Most of the way is on a small highway. I would like to tone my body a little, I think it would be a good idea for the summer and fall at least.

  • I wish i could ride my bike to work, but it would be scary to ride at 2 in the morning! Thanks for sharing girl!

  • Two words - "lights" and "mace".

    Not that scary. :)

  • Harsh

  • The last woman you interviewed is so right! It really does just feel good getting that little bit of exercise in the morning, people shouldn't worry so much about sweating and such. I bring an change of clothes and I'm good to go! haha

  • If I ride my bike to work it will take all day. I have an hour commute. I would be skinnier than a rail. LOL

  • Is that for a roundtrip? Is it in traffic? How many mi is it? Just curious...

  • One way. Traffic is not bad. Just far. Um..not sure about miles. Have not clocked it. Good idea though. It's Charlotte, NC

  • That's a good idea in theory, but around here most people work near the Pentagon which is like 30 miles! That's why we have slug lines :)

  • yeah, we know but living in Boston we try to utilize our resources and maybe encourage someone looking to move closer to their office.

  • i ride my bike everyday

  • sorry, but it was just like, ride your bike to work, yay they only have 2 miles to go. i have to go 12 miles one way at least. sorry, cant do it

  • Yeah we know, but maybe when it comes time to move, you'll look closer to your job?

  • So whats wrong with that? Plan ahead and wake up early. Its certainly not easy, but its definitely doable. My buddy rides his bike to work 14 miles each way, 6-7 days a week. It adds about 45-60 minutes each way to his day, but the guy looks like a menshealth cover model from it.

  • i have to go to school, and sorry, but im not willing to leave my house at 5:30 in the morning after staying up until midnight studying, and there's no way i would, i would rather leave at 7, especially since there's no side walks where i live and my school's in a bad neighborhood

  • build an electric bike that goes really fast...mine goes 30 mph but if you have money, you can build one that goes 40 mph or faster
