I contacted ASUS by email & they organised my laptop to be picked up, repaired & then returned via courier. In my opinion, they were great with service & honoring the 2 year warranty. Sadly, they only cleaned the dust out of the laptop (fans etc) & did a BIOS update of which I could have done here at home. I'd recommend buying a CoolerMaster Notepal cooler to help maintain airflow and assist in keeping laptop cool. It will only get dusty again & require another clean soon.
My F3Sv has just turned a year old & the 8600M GS is getting insanely hot & BSOD whilst running any heavy/demanding 3D applications. The GPU fan is running @100% RPM most of the time in an effort to cope. I contacted ASUS & they advised me to send it to a Service Centre. I have tried underclocking & even different driver's but all to no avail. A simple clean & new thermal paste will not fix the problem.
I have the same problem. From what I've read, there were a lot of 8600m gs cards that were defective and the heat has something to do with the card's heat cycles (whatever that means). I have the same problem with the fan, but that's not a big deal. BOTTOM LINE: NEVER BUY AN ASUS LAPTOP, customer service sucks and they just plain suck!
Volgens mij is er iets mis met je koeler. Ik denk dat je hem het beste op kunt sturen naar Asus. Vaak heb je hem dan binnen 3 maanden al in dezelfde staat terug. Succes!
I think the fan is a general problem becuase mine is very loud to, but i took a long time till that came, but i haven´t found an answer to the probleme with the fan and as far as i could the, the fan can not be replaced
I send it back to Asus two weeks ago with this problem, the only thing they did is clean up the fan and reset the bios. I had already cleaned up the fan before I sent it.
I think I'll have to wait till it really stops, destroying my CPU and VGA. But for now it stops after a minute or so.
you should NOT have your notebook constantly plugged in.

It still works after two years... so does the fan, it fixed itself!
