I like Gungrave too. It's one of those rare animes based on a video game that is watchable.

Death Note and Full Metal Alchemist have good stories, but they are pretty popular so I suppose you may have seen em already.

the anime starts from a scene from the end of the series then starts from the start until the end

not like other animes that start from the end and gives glimpses of the old days

Gungrave sorta feels like two animes for the price of one. The first part is a gangster show showing how some lowly thugs made it big. The finale turns into a more traditional anime with super powered characters.

Yeah I agree, older animes weren't shy with the gore. Stuff nowadays is more PG so it can appear on TV. Gantz is pretty bloody. Elfen Lied, depsite the cute artsyle can get rather disturbing too.
