Rubber cement on the swabs, which would stick to the skin and *not* the metal. At 4:06 and 4:46 you can see him pinch the skin together over the needle. As for the blood, it was in the bulb at the bottom of the needle. You see him squeeze at 6:12, it comes out of a hole in the side of the needle that he places under the folded skin.

Derren Brown is a great performer but it's a shame to pretend to use no gimmick, whereas in this trick he uses a very old trick called needle tru arm using rubber glue. In the original (better quallity) video, you even see the glue reflecting the light. Several tricks he does are just bullshit. Very deceiptive.
It's an old sideshow trick. The performer basically rubs rubber cement on the needle and sticks it to the outside of the arm. The skin then gets folded over the needle and a small amount of fake blood is pumped out from a small hole in the needle to complete the effect.
the only way for the skin to be around the needle is if the needle actually went through the skin.also, if it were glue, the needles would stick, which you could plainly see the needles going in and out of the skin. oh, and don't forget about the bit of blood on his left arm as he started to mentally struggle with it. still think it's glue?

And the blood thingie is easy to explain. See how his hands are hanging? The straps shrink the main artery in the arms and therefore lessers the bloodflow where the needles were put. Also there was a bit of blood.

this is similar to another trick which derren did,
imagine you are cuttin some vegtables, and you cut yourself but you dont notice that youve cut yourself, you feel no pain, as far as you know theres no cut however when you do see the cut thats when it actually starts to hurt

Well you panic when you see that there's two needles penetrated through your both arms. It's about knowing and not knowing. If you don't know something, it's not going to be scary. And of course in the hypnosis you concentrate in one thing, and here it's the peaceful song and Derren's voice. It's just amazing.

I just found out about Derren Brown as he is being televised now in the U.S. This stunt with RW is really difficult to watch! Why on earth did Robbie agree to do it! It's insane! I'd agree that it wasn't in the best taste, and quite pointless.

Rubber cement on the swabs, which would stick to the skin and *not* the metal. At 4:06 and 4:46 you can see him pinch the skin together over the needle. As for the blood, it was in the bulb at the bottom of the needle. You see him squeeze at 6:12, it comes out of a hole in the side of the needle that he places under the folded skin.

I think Robbie was supposed to go in to a hipnotic state which he clearly didn't. (I think he was taking the piss by putting his head down, on par for Rob.)
Points:
The only reason it was aired is because he managed to lure Rob.
Those needles would've hurt about that much.

Derren should've/did realise Rob wasn't under. He chose to stay po-faced when he should have improvised.
Any sadism redirected or justified against boybands from Brown was misplaced. We all know Rob's made of god juice so the lesser Brown is left looking like a complete tw4t.

they are sterile needles that go through the arm , the gel is a numbing gel - the reason they dont show them going in from the front is because ,it would to much of horrific image for television. though darren brown is a con artist

Derren Brown is a great performer but it's a shame to pretend to use no gimmick, whereas in this trick he uses a very old trick called needle tru arm using rubber glue. In the original (better quallity) video, you even see the glue reflecting the light. Several tricks he does are just bullshit. Very deceiptive.

It's an old sideshow trick. The performer basically rubs rubber cement on the needle and sticks it to the outside of the arm. The skin then gets folded over the needle and a small amount of fake blood is pumped out from a small hole in the needle to complete the effect.

It's actually glue.
The glue held the skin around the needle, that's why they don't show it going through the arm, but shot from behind.

the only way for the skin to be around the needle is if the needle actually went through the skin.also, if it were glue, the needles would stick, which you could plainly see the needles going in and out of the skin. oh, and don't forget about the bit of blood on his left arm as he started to mentally struggle with it. still think it's glue?

yeah it's just a mental trick. Pain is the bodys way of telling something's wrong so pain is just in your head. He created a distraction with the song and by other ways of manipulating.
And the blood thingie is easy to explain. See how his hands are hanging? The straps shrink the main artery in the arms and therefore lessers the bloodflow where the needles were put. Also there was a bit of blood.
