no offense, but this isn't that amazing (and i'm assuming these kids are in highschool)... they call this an "honor" drumline? not very complex rythms or playing. (btw, i did'nt hear one flam! not one!) Basicly just playing a bunch of sixtenth notes, diddles, and backsticks.. it is clean though, and i will give them that.... pretty decent i guess
This is just a video L.D. Bell High School's drumline playing the cadence as a demo for Honor Band of America. Mr. Pollard wrote the cadence for the Honor Band of America to use in the Rose Bowl Parade back in 2004. They only spent a few days rehearsing the cadence. It was never meant to be a "performance video", or even intended for public viewing.
I shot and edited the original video. I know exactly why it was made.
John Pollard (kneeling in front) wrote the cadence for the BOA Honor Band of America to use in the Rose Bowl Parade in 2004. The video was created as a demo of the cadence for the HBOA kids to watch before they got to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl parade rehearsals.
I cant believe I spent like 4 days writing this out by ear when the sheet music is on the net. But I guess it wouldnt of helped for the basses since we have 4 not 6.
Crazy. Someone sent me this link (this is Pollard). This is the '04 line. I wrote Torque for the BOA Rose Parade band and sent the members links to these vids so they could watch their section and learn fassst. The PDF music is at ldbellband org slash torque. Enjoy - thanks for the comments. Go LD Bell.
Nice. I saw your show at Grand Nats. Something about a beautiful mind right? It was my favorite show there. You guys should've beat out broken arrow. I'm from Centerville btw.
cool guys...um yeah the 6 basses is different, but whatever. That's the type of cadence the crowds will like man, slow, groovy, and full of visuals...cool stuff.
yea this was pretty damned good and clean, those rolls were nice. But the only part I could see where cleaning was that necesarry would be the first part into triplets with the backsticking, it keeps comming out fuzzy on all 3 recordings. Otherwise good.
This the LD Bell HS band performing as a video reference.

There is absolutely nothing impressive about this video.

the cadence doesnt do much for me but this line is freakin ridiculous. They sound outstanding. Very impressive for a high school line

That's the most unfunky cadence I think I've ever heard. Clean, but completely lifeless!
funkmasta772 4 years ago
I don't really like this cadence, but I have to say that the line played it pretty damned well.

really really really really nice bass split wish my bass can do that

That was an amazingly clean cadence by the way, are there six different sized bass drums i've only seen 5 in a marching band
Fundamenta 5 years ago
Kick-ass cadence. I really like the cymbal solo at the end. I thought that was cool and different for a high school line.
revliscrazy 5 years ago
is it just me or is the whole cymbla line just cymbals. O.o and i see 2 more girls on bass...
nice cadence. check mine out. xD

"is the whole cymbla line just cymbals"
Well, most cymbal lines ARE just cymbals...
But yeah, they're all girls.

is this a high school? Its ok, pretty boring though. not very demanding....
RickDawg527 5 years ago
very nicely done, superdude1112 is right, third bass drum needs to open it up. very clean, south texas = HELL YEAH
mikaari 5 years ago
The only problem I saw was that the third base drum needs to open up their sextuplet run part.
