I listen to this song almost 40,000 times out the 41,747 times it has been played and honestly it has just become a part of me, when im sad, lonely, happy, in love and in need of self comfort, i always listen to it. pure perfection in musical enjoyment.
Actually, my FEELING of her interpretation of this classic is that...AKIKO "JAZZED" Yusuf Lateef's version which many people refer to as 'The Classic...LOVE THEME from SPARTACUS? So,...she 'listened'...and connected with Yusuf's 'Love Theme'..."slept on it"? And NOW,...she's sharing her own more 'INTIMATE' connection with 'LOVE'....signed AKIKO! Isn't that what 'JAZZ' is truly about?
can you say NUJABES in the building with this, his version was called final view except she wasn't singing and the beat was the same just different though and still equally as beautiful, trust me. R.I.P. NUJABES.
Theres something magical about this tune, I've listened to almost every different version of it. It does not matter who does it, its remains hauntingly beustifull. I love this one. thank you
NO, this is NOT as beautiful as brotha Yusef's original. BUT!!!! Of all the covers of this song, this is most definitely my favorite. The rhythem section is flawless and Akiko is soooo very enchanting with her phrasing and interpretation. Never mind the beauty of those photos! The beautiful photos that she (and they) elicited in my mind when I shut my eyes and listened are superior to anything any photographer could offer as superfluous window dressing. Best regards,
Hauntingly beautiful. I prefer this to the original Yusef Lateef version actually. The lyrics and her voice add an additional dimension that really creates a different layer of artistry.
@SOTDBLOG Yusef Lateef did his version on 1961. Alex North composed the original score for the famous film one year earlier, 1960. Oscar winner John Williams conducted the orchestra.
¡ Buenísimo !...Dá gusto comprobar que todavía se hace buena música !----;-)

Ino Hidefumi has an awesome version of this tune. He puts it in 4 though. It's super funky.

Great cover.
Yussef Lateef, Bill Evans, Maria Schnider, Ahmad Jamal... but also Carlos Santana had recorded good cover of this waltz.
