  • The most talented band ever!!!!!!!love them!!!!!

  • Wishbone Ash opened for the Allman Brothers' Band in 1971 three weeks before Duane Allman was tragically killed. Wishbone Ash was incredible!! That night they out staged the Allman Brothers... and that's saying a lot!

  • love this!!!!!!!!!!

  • yeah baby yeah,i love this

  • How did such a small country produce so much talent?

  • Proper music.

  • be nice if this was actually live

  • Brilliant song

  • "Totally awesome! Been a fan of W.A. since 1971-1972 (Argus period). Seen them in concert in Florida circa 1971 (Miami Jai Alai Fronton)

and at Western State College in Alamosa, Colorado November 1972."

  • Great!

  • id go see them now if they still wore those plaid pants. LOVE this band.

drums in front. yeah. i saw them on this tour in Olympia Wash. uh huh.

  • Is this their only great song?

  • just 1 thing 2 say AWESOME!!!!!

  • so god damn good.. loved them in the 70's and love them now.. nice to see the drummer up front!? looking for a song: no water in the well, by them, can't seem to find it? please post if any anyone has it... i love that song.. good to see a drummer up front!! love wba!

  • Aaaaah this takes me back to my halcyon days!

  • Ah... the sins of my youth!

  • I remember buying Pilgrimage when it was first released after watching them on Disco 2 (before whistle test). It included Jailbait.

I was blown away... especially from the harmonised guitars...great band.... great music...

    Les Mayers

  • My all time favourite WA song. I still love it 40 years later. Too bad they never made it big in North America. Probably because they were a musicians band and didn't try to churn out hit after hit.

  • The original duelling guitar band a decade before Maiden thought of it.

  • I've heard about these guys for a long, long time but this is the 1st time hearing & seeing them. Very impressed! Did W.A. ever make much headway in the States? Thanks for the tunes!

    /born in '71.

  • @Sirscorps Oh yeah - they were pretty big. Everyone I knew listened to them. I was 17 in '71.

  • @rimbaud108 Thanks! From the few songs i've heard, I like them. I need to listen to more Cactus, another band I know about but am not that familiar with. It helps that Carmine Appice has been one of my influences as a drummer since I started back in circa 77-78.

  • Old bands like this were great.!! They didn't rely on multple overdubs to fix their mistakes..No pro tools or pitch correction, just good organic music played the way it was meant to be heard..What a concept .

  • this is a perfect example of why music is so awful today. this is simply an incredible band!

  • ...and cameramen who have an idea of how to catch the right guitar action!

  • The drummer out front, what a concept.

  • what the hell is wrong with the 4 people that dont like this? must be clay aiken or justin beiber fans..

  • Acojonante tema, god damned tune!!

  • Acojonante tema, good damned tune!!

  • That is epic. And hardly anyone knows. That is epic...

  • Far out man ! been a long time since I heard Wishbone !!

  • Schenker stole half his licks from these guys...

  • Schenker stole half his kicks from these guys...

  • You googled "jailbait", and you came here. PEDOBEAR ON DA WAY

  • I like this Ted Turner much more than the "other" Ted Turner.

  • Blast frow the past enjoy

  • Cool pants Andy!,,,LOL!

  • I had no idea what rock and roll was until I heard Wishbone Ash... I can still vividly remember seeing them in 1973. It was weeks before I came out of the trance that Phoenix put me in. I saw most of the legendary bands, but none were better than Wishbone Ash!

  • They just don't come like that anymore i'm afraid....

  • @herman58100 they do mate W A is still touring and sound enen better live

  • Oh...yeah!

  • I was in love with the band in the 70s

  • Amazing how much can be said with so few lyrics.... The first time I heard this song, I felt an immediate connection with it. I've always been attracted to people significantly older than me, so the years in which I was "jail bait" were incredibly difficult for me. The line, "How many lonesome years?" always struck me the most, as a person can feel lonesome and isolated at any age. Fantastic song, legendary band.

  • one of the best live bands ever. Twin lead at its best

  • ΤΗΕ BIGEST BAND IN ROCK HISTORY

  • I remember the 1st time i heard this song, I thought it was the coolest most unusual sound I'd ever heard, it still is!

  • A+ AWESOME.....i was there Minty 70's rock Ash Is

  • Such a HUUUUUGE riff!

  • The only thing Ted Turner had in common with Rory was that they both played fender strats through treble boosters. Apart from that they had nothing in common. Different personalities, influences and different singing and playing styles. Oh and Rory was irish. Long hair and flannel shirts were the fashion back then. We all looked like that. Except for andy who seems to be on a different trip in this movie, bless him. Pity there is no live sound - what you are hearing is straight off the record.

  • I've always thought one reason why they weren't a bigger name is that they rarely had anything short enough to fit into the standard three-minute AM formula. They were pretty much of an FM thing,

  • Anybody else see the Taste similarity?

Not only the music, but the flannel shirt, the Strat....

I'd say there was a wee bit of influence, no?

  • Freaking nothing less than awesome !! Damned mighty fine !!

  • I saw this band 4 times in the early 70's.... not exactly what I would refer to as 'mainstream', but definitely well known among those who played or tried to play music. They are one of my all time favorite groups.

  • Give me a little more time. that sends a shiver down my spine everytime

  • Amazing song! And they were quite the good looking bunch too!

  • I was in a band in the early 70's that covered this song. They were well known to musicians then. Not so much mainstream public.

  • Ahhhhhh................. Why didn't these guys go big time?? First time I heard of them!

  • @jwjcook11

Wishbone Ash were actually a big band, and had a strong following in the hard/prog rock fraternity. Their albums sold well, so they did technically go big time !

  • Man, that's a groove that just won't quit.

  • this ,although a great track is just so "alike"fleetwood mac's earlier[bluesy]recordings[ie then play on]and peter greens style of playing cept for the dual guitar sound, still magic tho'cheers for posting.

  • Wish I'd bought the LP back in the day. All I got now is a badly worn cassette tape that was bought 15 years after the fact and such a bad memory (hmmm) that I forgot about it "and" the band. Thanks for the memories, saintsluggo.

  • Cute guys, great talent, aswesome voices what else can I ask for??

    they really kick ass!!!

  • yeah ! saved up for weeks to buy the album ,still have it .13 at the time but all he same ,, I bought my 1st guitar through their influence and im still playing, weel done Ash and co

  • Amazing!!

  • The best heavy metal head banger of all time !!

  • great band letting all three guiatrists to sing lead vocals in different songs, classic

  • I want my last 40 years back since I saw these guys in 1971/2 many times!

Great to see the legendary Steve Upton as the driving force on the drumsticks!

Glorious band, particularly the original line-up with the 2 unrelated Turners and Sir Andy Powell with Steve:)

  • @Isleofskye saw them myself in 71/72..it must be the very reverend andy poell by now....first band to appear on old grey whistle test....first and best..keep the faith dude

  • @Gyphia it actually is not live - look at Upton's percussion at the end

  • Ash were the resident band at my local pub back in the 70's and 80's. You suppose coldplay or the hoosiers play at their local?

    them were the days!

  • @sjhead99 where that ! i payd big pounds to see them at all the venues in Northern England in the early days

  • I can't get enough of this...Truly amazing hard edge 70's!

  • Is this actually live? 'cos it is note for note perfect with the studio version, I have a feeling it may be a backing track with a live vocal.

  • wow, that sure takes me back. if I hadn't actually seen this vid I'd have never guessed the singer was playing a Strat. that was one of the most un-Strat sounding Strats I've ever heard! thx for the memories!

  • one of the best songs out of the seventies and there were a buttload !

  • These were great, listen to CONSORTIUM as well another great band from that era

    Both still going strong....

  • A REALGIFT FOR ALL THE WISHBONE ASH FANS. THANKS

  • Boogie

  • A band that always inspires me luv them

  • Gotta dig out my loon pants - wonder if they'll fit - OOPs!

  • Ah seeing these live tonight! :)

  • my favourite song by WA

  • Awesome song.

  • pure magic....nuff said!!!!

  • This was the best-ever Ash lineup. They did the Argus album, which was my fave for the day. Along with Yes-Fragile and Neil Young-Harvest, 1972 was a great album year (It also gave birth to first-timer Dan Fogelberg).

  • @jflinn210 You are right. '72 was THE year. Besides the ones you mentioned; Stones - Exile on main street, and Tull - thick as a brick. Best year ever, and I had a hot girlfriend.

  • everyone thinks that black sabbath and led zepplin made hard rock but in my opinion these guys and budgie did

  • haha rorrrryyy!!

  • excellent

  • This is the original Wishbone Ash. For those of you that don't no.

  • Andy powell and Martin Turner the original guitar players

  • great music, great band,great times, Thank,s

  • Don't often see the drummer in front of a band.

    Like Steve Upton's fuzz

  • Flying V........................

  • I don't mean to sound cruel .......but THAT is NOT RORY. Ya the hair and the shirt might look like him......but he plays nowhere near as great as RORY and can't sing like RORY. This is Wishbone Ash.

  • @whocanitbenow67

Yeah ... And Wishbone Ash more creative than Rory !

  • @whocanitbenow67

Uhh...did not mean to infer it WAS Rory. Only that the Taste influence is undeniable. If there's a bigger Rory fan than myself, I haven't met him yet.

  • Comment removed

  • ale z ciebie jajcarz, ha ha...But you are pretty eggs cleaner, aren't you?

  • @harinamanandadas: Dude, that's not Rory Gallagher. hehe

I love Rory and I love Wishbone Ash and that's definetily Wishbone Ash. :)

  • Pretty kickin' tune. Features some very nice riffing to boot!

  • Awesome! Great band! Thanks!

  • got 4 cd's of theirs ...genius.

  • another of my favorite songs....Ted Turner always kicked as...Lori was about as you could/equal as you could get as a replacement for him...after that it's all fill.......

  • Can never EVER get enough of this track.

  • The drummer is quite a character "hillbilly-redneck fill in" alongside the hippies .-)

  • Thanks for posting this. I wore my "Live Dates" album out. These guys always had great gear and just wailed.

  • Great band. Very popular in Poland those days.

  • This is my new theme song!

  • Quo? QUO???Are you mad???Jesus.....

  • Well said that man..........some people just don't get it

  • 71? hmmmmm - interesting - i wonder if they stole from quo or quo stole from them!

  • Idiot

  • idiot

  • WOT!!!!!!!!!????????????

Mate, I lived these days and you shouldnt compare this awesome band of musicians with Status Quo.Quo had a great followering but not great muso's.

    Great live band but ,well!!

  • How nice..never heard this before..what an outstanding group..always wondered why they did not really hit the top, they are certainly musically in the league of Zep, Cream, Tull etc. Thanks to the provider.

  • Class Act and a privilege to have witnessed in the 70s especially....

  • what's the singer guitarist name?

    Realy cute and amazing voice!

  • Ted Turner.

Are you going to make a drawing of him too? ;-)

  • @JimMcCartyandCo

    not yet!(smile)

  • Nice! Saw some of your paintings on your page, very nice, also that they are water colour and good old fashioned hand-drawings (everything else is just talentless fake) - that's also my style. I'm actually right now drawing a picture of Ted Turner.

  • I love that sound

  • Sounds like early 70s Status Quo. That's no bad thing in my opinion though

  • wishbone busted! ccedar rapids, Iowa early 70's they were a really hot band back in the day. crusin in the vega with these boys cranked up.

  • I never heard of this band until recently. I was blown away when I heard one of there songs. I then came across their Argus album and was amazed. One of the best albums I've ever heard. How is it that these guys never got any airplay here in the US (or was I simply not paying attention)?

  • I saw this band 3 years ago in Germany in small club .... better than hell

  • I just love the band - being a teenager in the early 70s - who wouldnt have great memories - just wish hadnt sold my ticket to see them in Newcastle all those years ago - was stuck for a lift home

  • typical for them:

    2 Melodie Guitars

    I never heard that either

    nice Band

  • Great song.

Man, the lead singer here really epitomises the look of 70s youth....the long hair, the undernourished look/thin frame....such good times!!

The bloke with the white(ish) jacket on is the clever one from 'The Goodies', right????

    :)

  • hey, i hope you enjoy the gig....but look...that was 27 years ago...they were on TOP of their game back then....Powell is 58 now, and you'll not get to see the great Ted Turner Or Steve Upton OR Martin Turner !!!....have fun anyway !!!

  • woah...these are cooooool!!

my dad got me tickets to see these on wednesday...woooo

    exciting stuff

    lol

  • WoW a duo solo??????????????

  • I think the band is singing live but with no live instruments being played. No mic for any of the drums??? My fav album was Live Dates, great real live sound much better than this weak effort.

  • What a song...

  • Hehe, an endless solo

  • pure son guitar rien a voir avec maintenant c'est du vrai pur rock

  • Saw em in 70 when support band to Yes.

Bought the 1st album the week after, wasnt disappointed and never have been with the band, always deliver and always superb live.

Some 1st albums tend to be classics, W.A.s is.

  • First saw them about73 at pirates world in Ft.Laud, they opened up for Alice cooper. Great band. Than saw them again about 9 years ago out in golden, Colorado.Only one original member left thats Andy powell and his Flying v quitar .they still rocked.

  • Usually the Turner on Bass does the singing. The Turner singing on this (I forgot their first names) lives in Scottsdale,AZ and his little boy was hit and killed by a drunk Rolls Royce driving jerk a few years ago.

  • Rock N Rollers, behold the Wishbone Ash.

What a gem! Thanx for posting this.

  • TED TURNER !!!

  • Music Hall Aberdeen 1970, happy days. Off to bed now the wife has just made my cocoa :D

  • just like zep they were a live band ...there music was brill ....rory gallagher r.i.p. that was random folks

  • Great band.

  • Best 70's band and that's a fact!

  • Wrapping my ears around this some 30 years down the line still makes spine tingle . Excellent stuff

  • Like the earlier Status Quo!

  • Hehe saw Quo and Wishbone live at one evenin:O

YES!!! VERY GOODDDDDDD!!! que c'est bon koko!!

  • Jimmy Page once said that Wishbone Ash had perfected the duelling guitar technique... something, the Yardbirds were unable to do!...

  • Maybe he hadn't heard April WIne.

  • BUSTED!

  • These guys were extrremely popular at my highschool (west coast USA)when this came out.We absolutely loved Jailbait (just learning the meaning was so exciting to us innocent 15 years olds!). Wouldn't get much of that charm these days. It got heaps of play at parties. Hearing this

35 years later I know why we liked them so much. Great songs, guitar tones, vocals, etc. I was pleasantly suprised to catch them in Greece early 83. EC, Albert Lee, Duck Dunn passed through too.. $10!

    Duck Dunn

  • This is mimed.

  • probably my favorite wishbone ash song

  • Hey great tune man, not familiar with this group...

  • its good to know that the autentic lp livedates is standing next to me

  • Very good tune! 5* =D

  • Type 'Budgie' in the search box for some incredible 70's rock

BTW, love Wishbone Ash - I saw them loads of times a the Capitol Theatre, Cardiff - they were VERY loud & totally awesome!

  • Geesh...someone knows Budgie??? I can't fucking believe it! Plus Wishbone was great in 71!!!!!

  • Yeah, Budgie's pretty good!

  • oh to have the rocking 70s back in fashion these are just one of many great bands to grace the stage awesome andy powell ....nuff said!!!!

  • Superb, track and band.

  • with that kind of rock'n roll life worthes more than tears

  • Zeppelin, Floyd, Genesis, Yes, The Who, Nazereth, Queen, Purple; Britain really did rock and rule back then...

  • THE BEATLES !!!

  • quo :D :D stupid!

  • The things Ted Turner taught me back then when I was a young musician...the glory of double lead guitar, teardrop pics and western plaid shirts...all important things to know about back in high school and beyond...

  • fantastic!

  • I was a youth of the late 60s/70s. Saw these live a couple of times then. Really liked them

  • What I said, my friend was that the 60s and 70s were the best decades of rock and that the 80s and 90s were full of trash with some exceptions. Peace.

  • Wasn't even there (my name says all :( ) but I've already learned that that's true.

Wishbone Ash are wonderful - the 60's and 70's really were/ are the best years for real music! :)

  • Cheers finally sum1 of my age again who likes good music!! on skool ya only got Metalheads (can be nice) rappers and hard core dudes-_- no Hippies and Hard Rockers:S

  • Tell me about it! lol

This kind of music is what I live for, unfortunately not many people my age seem to share the opinions...but it's their loss! ;)

  • You're born in 1993? Me too and this is THE MUSIC! I listen to all kinds of 70's rock bands, and prog too. My favs are Wishbone Ash and Uriah Heep. Amazing song this one!

  • Hehe those 2 are great try Nazareth too think ya like!:) dont got a fave really but I think I like Led Zeppelin Deep Purple and Alice Cooper most:D

  • Yep I was. And certainly right! I like Uriah Heep and WA, WA more, I think. GORGEOUS music!! glad I'm not alone! lol

  • Wow. I probably shouldn't be, but I'm still always caught off guard to find someone who was born in the nineties getting off on bands like Wishbone Ash and Uriah Heep. You have excellent taste, sir. And it sure is nice to be able to find clips like this on YT.

  • Hehe yeah! I only hate it when they are gonna call ya a Fuckin Gothic and things like that while ya are wearin Cowboy Boots and a Zeppelin Tshirt-_-
