  • These people have no sense of humour

  • @weirdcitykid

This coming from a guy who calls himself: "weirdcitykid".

  • @IDEAALBEELD1

I agree - Americans suck ass. I am British btw.

  • @weirdcitykid I'm American and I totally agree lol.

  • mfw when people think Hans Teeuwen is dumb and a bad comedian:

    trollface.jpg

  • "You obviously don't get it, you way too stupid to open your mind and progress out of your safety zone - I wouldn't want to share comedic interest with a dumb little prick like you."

    - when talking about a bad Dutch comedian who sits and sings a bad song out of tune - THE JOKE BEING - it's out of tune and a crap song.

lol. Same here Dutchman - I am so please I like Monty Python, Kauffman, Stewart Lee, Bill Hicks, Woody Allen etc. You stick with your Dutch rubbish..bwaaahahaha.

  • @weirdcitykid What a racist little prick you are! You are too fucking stupid for words....

    a) He's dutch - despite you saying he's Danish

    b) I'm British - despite you saying I'm Dutch.

Sort it out dick head... Stewart Lee would be embarrassed to have you as a fan - I doubt you get what he is actually getting at either. To start with, you are judgmental, you are racist, you are thick and mostly, you are a cunt

  • @chalkus

Dutch, Danish, German - all equally frightful when it comes to comedy, so forgive me for not even bothering to differentiate between you all.

I am being sincere when I say - sense of humour is related to IQ - and we all know the Dutch (like Ze Germans) are about as funny as the Holocaust.

By the way - do some research you fucking retard - Hans Teeuwen is a Dutch comedian - who said anything about him being Danish!

  • 19485 people now know that the Dutch cannot do comedy.

  • I cant wait for august when i will finally see him live for the first time ever!!

  • Hahahahaha hilarious!

  • Thats some kind of strength, he has his own way of going off stage :)

  • Hans Teeuwen is an acquired taste. It was risky and a bit unimaginative to simply take a literal translation of the Nostradamus song and assume people elsewhere are going to find that funny. Much of his wit lies in the way he puts a mirror up to the audience, which simply works best in the culture you're from. It's like watching Seinfeld and wondering what's so funny. Not our culture.

His later English shows were written for a British audience and are much better, and still.. he's best in Dutch.

  • So why was he getting booed?

    How many were booing?

My friend once got told to sshhhh at Latitude during some dull singersongwriters show. I'm guessing the crowd there are sometimes ... unimaginative-dreary-dullards?

  • rufus hound patronised the lot of you as well and you didn't realise it.

  • rufus hound = prick

  • LOL typically Hans Teeuwen.

Staying on stage even longer just to annoy the audience.

  • The thing that is demonstrated here is simply embarrassing. Us Brits, as a collective, simply hold a much lower level sense of humour that the Dutch. I say, "us Brits," I mean you unintelligent Brits.

I am British and you all humiliate us!

  • Having HT perform at lattiude is like having John Scofield open for Metallica.

  • people should know that is English is actually really good and that the crappy English is just a part of his act as well as his "bad" timing in songs

  • @menno023

Dat is mij in het geheel ontgaan - ik ga beslist nog eens rustig kijken!

    Groet,

    Coco

  • If these guys would drown in the ocean

they would boe at the water

    Kicking the water

    "Dont you fucking touch me!

  • Well at least he didn't cave to the fuckers. I'm ashamed by my countrymen.

  • people are just dumb to boo at him.. they have no clue what he is about.. i love hans teeuwen.. hans teeuwen is over the ocean , your once twice three times hans teeuwen!!

  • The audience make me ashamed to be a Brit. Supposedly the UK is a haven for intelligent comedy and breaking taboos.

And yet this audience in one fell swoop shatters that illusion, with a fine display of ignorance and bad taste. Hans is an amazing comic, his comedy is very intelligent, I would have hoped that UK audiences could grasp that. Thankfully, his Leicester Square crowd gave him a better response.

At least now I know to avoid the Latitude festival at all costs.

  • haha he trolled you all

  • Why do i see, so often, english people ,when they form an audience doesnt matter if its comedy or something else, turn into a bunch of barbarians? and im not even talking about this vid cause this is nothing, nothing really happens here. ive never seen a non-english audience behave like the english do sometimes. Ive heard, only ones, a few boo's from an american audience but that was it. So unbelievable strange.

  • English people are soooo polite don't you think? Atleast Dutch people learned some manners here except of being a bunch of hooligans, they should try to listen before they start booing.

I guess, its like "parels voor de zwijnen" or in english that would be

    "throwing pearls for the swine"

  • Comment removed

  • I've heard his other comedy sets, yes they are funny but you weren't their at this particular gig so you have no idea why people were booing. He was sexually vulgar for an uncomfortably long period of time & then sang nonsense songs mad up on the spot to recover the audience, it was too late by then. I could insult your entire country but i have more "manners" intelligence and class than you obviously. Get your facts straight next time before you take a swipe at a whole nation of people.

  • We heard him then we booed, it had nothing to do with him not being funny he was offensive.

  • @tazzy27581 you don't get it. evidently you have little appreciation of satire but then one shouldn't expect an attendee of latitude to have any appreciation of anything intellectual.

The songs were not made up on the spot, you lot were crap so he resorted to messing with the audience to entertain himself....

Get your facts straight before you comment on anything in future.

  • @chalkus I love satire (The Now Show, Bremner Bird and Fortune, Marcus Brigstocke, The Daily Show, etc), I got it, I just didn't find him funny. Unless you asked each person why they responded so coldly to him don't generalise and say the entire audience were crap. The great thing about people is everyone has different opinions. Just because some people didn't like the show it doesn't make them thick or unintelligent, it just means they didn't like his comedy act, ok. Now do you understand?

  • @tazzy27581 you can say an audience is crap, collectively, this audience didn't understand what they were watching. Had there been understanding there would have been laughter. This guy is one of the most successful comedians to come from Holland, he is critically acclaimed every year at the Fringe and when I saw him there, he was great.

From the examples you have given, I don't think you understand what satire really is, either that or you have never seen real satire.

  • @chalkus

Real satire being some guy singing a bad song and stuttering. Yeah, this is so satirical.

You cannot use the AndyKauffman line to justify every bum comic - some people just aint funny. Irritating yes, but to be a comedian you have to make people laugh. That's the main object of comedy. If an act makes a collective audience boo - then it's not funny. Danish people are a bit thick - that's cool. I am sure it amuses them. Need to raise the bar a little for a UK audience though.

  • @weirdcitykid

"Danish people are a bit thick " - hahahahaha the irony.

Andy Kauffman line???? Have you ever see Teeuwen live? I guess not......

Dude, you don't get it, simple as that.... a song about nostradamis mis-predicting the future, whilst sang badly... staying on stage when booed, continuing to stay on stage when booing persists. Joke was on you - thats what makes it funnier.

  • @chalkus

Wrong foolish sycophant! And I can prove it:

The gig was a literal translation of his Danish gig - which when played to a Danish audience (of thickos) is met with deranged laughter and thunderous applause!

So the Andy Kauffman excuse won't work here. Kauffman's act was deliberate and well times - this Danish fool simply gives a bad act - get's booed off stage - and then his fans claim "ah it's subversive!" "It's Kauffmanesque" ..no..it's crap and Danes just aint funny!

  • @weirdcitykid Oh dear, you are an arrogant imbecile:

    a) Neither argument within this debate can be proven. When you use a thesaurus in future, do try to find an appropriate insult otherwise it makes you look rather silly

    b) Andy Kauffman was a commercial entity and much of what he did was written for him. I'll give it to you that he was a good performer

c)You have now entered into two tirades about his nationality, which you have wrong. Philistine.

Only reply if you know what you're saying

  • @chalkus

Think about this for a second - the guy got booed off stage!!!!

Face it - he sucks and Danish folk can't do comedy because they are just not funny!

    End of.

  • @weirdcitykid I'd reassess yourself if I was you. What do you know about latitude festival and those that attend? what do you know about european nationalities?

"End of" - something only a child would write.

    Thou art a crow....

  • @chalkus

Oh you are trying to appear clever - but you fail.

Your country is a shambles when it comes it comedy and a downright disgrace.

People get booed off stage for a reason - usually they are poor.

I saw this jerks London gig - guess what - equally bad.

    P.S - You are a fool.

  • @weirdcitykid I don't need to "try" to be clever with you around, it just comes naturally. do you know what MY country is? With you being an ignoramous, you have missed the mark yet again - fool can certainly be said of you

People get booed off stage when the audience do not connect with the act. You obviously don't get it, you way too stupid to open your mind and progress out of your safety zone - I wouldn't want to share comedic interest with a dumb little prick like you.

    PS. you're a cunt

  • @chalkus

    Name 10 famous English comedians.

    Name 10 famous American comedians.

    Name 10 famous Dutch comedians.

lol. It is weird really, becuase a nation that invented wooden shoes should in theory be hilarious...but then the shoes were serious weren't worn for comedic value were they? Shame, becuase THAT was funny. Now that, is pure irony. Like a suicidal clown..lol.

Face it - Dutch just can't do comedy. You are like ze Germans - you just aint funny. Your replies are evidence of this.

  • @weirdcitykid Fame has nothing to do with talent.

If you are too dumb to progress beyond small minded racism, I suggest you fuck off to your sordid little hole. You have no material except for ripping of a shit film like Snatch

  • @chalkus

ripping of a shit film like Snatch - what the hell are you talking about...lol. Is that some sort of Dutch joke? You are an imbecile. A retarded Dutch imbecile.

  • @weirdcitykid Nope.... its where your fuckwit saying 'zie germans' came from. Dumb little cunt

  • @chalkus

The guy got booed off stage...lmfao. It's not the first time and won't be the last.

I guess that means I win by default - or are the entire crowd stupid anti-dutch racists too? ...lol.

The lengths you are prepared to go to, to deny this man's failure is hilarious. You are in denial. This man is not funny. The comedians I listed - are funny. End of.

  • @weirdcitykid Nope, the crowd were latitude festival goers, not traditionally known for their intelligence..... do your basic research before pretending to be an 'expert'

  • @weirdcitykid This man is funny too. But in Dutch language he is making funny of a group of people by talking like them. When he does the same in English he just can not do that. Besides the show he is doing here, he already did that in Dutch, but that was years ago. It was funny back then when he was talking in Dutch. He shouldn't do comedy in English.

  • @chalkus

Btw - your comment on my Rufus Hound video clearly displays the depth of your humour. I expect you will race to delete it once you firgure it out - but thanks for giving me a genuine laugh...lol. Of course, I am laughing AT you, so please don't go getting any aspirations about being the second greatest Dutch comedy export.

P.S - lol..you niave retard. I see now - you Dutch people take comedy at face value - like slapstick. You proved it with your comment. ignoring you now...ta ta:)

  • @weirdcitykid Stop being racist, it does show the true level of your humour if all you can identify to attack is one's nationality. You even get that wrong

  • @chalkus

You deceitful Dutch sychphants! For years you have pretended you could do comedy - always using the excuse "he's better in Dutch!". Liars!!! Well thanks to this - a literal translation of this fools act - we can now see - that the Dutch are just fools. Laughing at such childish things. Your national IQ must be very low - oh it is (I just checked) - averaging just 85:(

You know, 85 is actually mild mental retardation by our standards.

Go home Dutchman - you are not funny! Booooooo

  • I love Hans Teeuwen, though i understand its not physically possible for 100% of the world to love the same thing.

Though, the sound of Londoners/middle class southerners screaming at the man on stage is like nails on the chalk board for me personally.. eeeek

  • your fast.

  • go hans (L)

  • Oh? i now you are good at 2 things drinking beer and say fuck ! ! haha you sad looser well hier is a acctual joke joke.. nock nock.. who is there.. GO FUCK YOURSELF :)

  • I'm an truly sorry to say, sir, but I dare to say that you haven't even got the slightest idea about this man's true potential. He surpasses your idea of comedy in a way. Check his London show on the tube and know that he's isn't doing comedy in his mother tongue, and start realizing that there IS other comedy than British and that it is quite brilliant. You can check for yourself and change your mind or reply to this again in an ignorant way. Kind Regards.

  • brittish comedy is passé since monthy python.

    no feather for your jazz

  • GET FUCKED. FEATHER FOR YOUR ARSE MATE

  • AGAIN: PASSE !

  • @T1C2A3F4 but at least he can spell

  • the english people eat too many fish and chips and they like too say fuck off and .. fuck off is the only thing they can say this man is a genious but you suck people dont give the guy a chance you like too look at mister bean FUCK ASS DUMB FUCKERS ! ! ! !

  • I love him in Dutch (am Dutch myself), but I agree that he sucks in English. Though this part was just genius because of the booing. He was looking for something to grab on the ground and then someone actually threw him a cup lol, I bet he hoped everyone started throwing stuff at him, because it looks like he was enjoying himself up there and being booed hehe. And then throwing a fucking bucket in the stage as souvenir lol, I have never seen a more ridiculous souvenir thrown off stage then that!

  • gotta give the guy respect for handling such a crowd the way that he does

  • lol teeuwen kinda woulnt care about being boo'ed off he would actually find it funny hehe . because he's funny beyond the term :D

    Go Teeuwen !! :D

  • They're not singing with him, they're chanting 'Go Home and Fuck Off' :/

    Morons

  • tough crowd..he`s out of his element over there..different sence of humour I guess..

  • @ augustina91

Nee joh, gewoon een koekje van eigen deeg.

En hij maakte er het beste van, dat moet ik hem nageven.

Different sense of humour you guess?

Well, my guess is as good as yours I suppose:

    ;)

    Bedankt voor jouw respons

  • what the fuck, how can you not like Hans Teeuwen????

    and I'm not even Dutch

  • Its really different in English then in Dutch :P

Cant really blame english people, its just different, you prob have to be dutch

  • ok so first of all u decide to choose as an example someone who hasnt done comedy for about ten years and wasnt ever really a stand up comic, just a sketch show. And to say we "suck" at comedy is an interesting statement. a recent top 100 greatest stand ups survey saw the top 20 dominated my brits. so if your going to make claims like that at least know your comedy mate

  • An act certainly...'Lost in translation' is the best way to sum this up.

  • @Someloke8895 no, the best way to sum this up is... thick people don't get it

  • Hans teeuwen is hollands andy kaufman in terms of stature, so booing him off only shows the stupidity in the public.

  • You're more than right, booing him off makes the whole act even funnier to me... if you look at the first part, with his Nostradamus song, you can hear that a big part of the audience likes it and sings with him!

  • He did an act that he doesnt really know the words that was the part of the act but because this is kinda of his first time he does that before these audiance and they dont know hans they think he really doesnt know the words thats why these people booed him of and they didnt give the man a change so from al the hans teeuwen dutch fans Met een dikke bobbel strak groene dikke bobbel strak groene broek die dikke lul van nostradamus jah die dikke grote zweterige lul van nostradamus

  • Unable to handle Dutch karma?

    What does that even mean?

Hans Teeuwen is not right winged you silly goose.

The humor here is not devolving, humor in general is goin in all sorts of strangled roots and gnarled directions, sounds to me like it's ever evolving. Yes, we get it that you don't like Mr. Hans Teeuwen but others do, so respect that.

  • I tend to like the humour of Hans Teeuwen very very much.

In the same way I tend to like mcdonalds food very very much if I go to eat there for 2 days.

  • I'm English and i love Hans Teeuwen! I agree about the audience being shite, they must be there for the bog standard comedy routines. They want to get drunk and laugh at shitty one liners rather than see something thats off the wall and different. He's very similar to Andy Kaufman, and we all know that the typical audience didn't get him at the time, but he had his fans that got what he was about.

  • Exactely, it's pathetic some people don't understand anything more than what the presenter so lovely described as a 'joke joke'. Especially in the UK, c'mon, it's the birthplace of absurdity. I bet the Monty Pythons would get booed off by the same people if they were younger too.

  • What I said here was an answer to Vinchio's comment...

  • In Dutch, Hans Teeuwen kicks ass. But in English, its just not as funny. Hans doesnt seem to realize that. Also, i think the humour is VERY different. Dont get me wrong, i like english humour, but i dont think the English love Hans Teeuwen's typical rude, mean, cruel style.

  • The English people can´t handle Hans

  • My god, that audience is stupid. This act is hilarious, go and look it up on youtube. Hans Teeuwen is the funniest guy after. Why couldn't they drob a bomb on that audience. No loss for the world what so ever.

  • he's definitely going off in style.

    Amoine!

  • This is a fact:

In Holland Hans Teeuwen is one of the best comedian.

Maybey he isn't that good in England because Dutch humor is different than English humor..

  • Hahahaha... did Hans just fucked the british? in a real proper way hahahahahaha he's too funny omg why did he do that

  • He absolutely did, but those British drunks can't realize it nor wil they ever with some lame Bri'ish Fawlty Tower in their teethless & rotting faces!!

Hij is Hans Teeuwen, hij is Hans Teeuwen

jaja de Koning van de Lach :D

  • british drunks? yes coming an american, you retards voted for bush twice, you've lost the right to an opinion, the only way you can get it back now is to vote in obama

  • He´s not an american

  • i know but 'coolethan007yotube' is, the guy who i was replying to.

  • If even the host gets angry w/ the audience for not understanding a different (but in my eyes great, not standard)humor, maybe some of the people here will understand that the audience wasn't the brightest bunch of people around

  • actually the host (rufus hound) seemed to understand why we hated him, he had to be polite to hans obviously.

  • This is how it went after this vid stops (source: New Statesman, 24 July 2008):

"For those of you who seem to want one-liners, here's a 'joke-joke'." He then proceeds to tell an old-fashioned sexist joke about a person who has a stained penis because he's been "fucking allsorts" and gets a hearty laugh.

"That's one of my dad's jokes," shouts the compère, visibly angry. "If you're only going to laugh at stupid jokes, maybe you could wait for one I've written myself."

  • im confused, are you on hans' side or the audience's?

  • I'm on Hans' side, so I pasted the fact that the compere was as well.

  • I might start liking the Brits, at least you understand that Hans is not funny and a prick. The Dutch audience don't have taste, that's why the Dutchies are giving you all red thumbs lol.

  • Haha fool. We have more sence of humour than you guys, but you are all affraid for the things he's saying, because you live a lie

  • He was rubbish in lattitude all his stuff was about feeling up imaginery women and just wasn't funny frankie boyle was ok but I had heard too much off it on mock the week and the big three best for me were Russell Howard, Rich Hall and Ross Noble and if anyone was there before Ross I was the guy who went up on stage with the contact ball

  • lol i'm not surprised that you dont understand it, i shouldnt have commented on you now you're head is probably hearting from thinking

  • first of all it's 'hurting' not 'hearting' and secondly, like this guy none of your comments make any sense

  • what dont you understand about my comment ? it's not that difficult.

  • god why doesn't he take the hint?

  • o boy, do you rally think he didnt get that they wanted him off, he doesnt care, i think he even liked it

  • what?

  • what what ?

  • your comment didn't make any sense

  • He's really good! Just give it time. The critics are enthousiastic and get the picture what Hans Teeuwens talent is all about. He just has to learn how to communicate with the english crowd and cabaret in another language is more difficult but it will come! I'm sure.

  • Look, us dutch people have known Hans for really long time. England just started to get to know him. When he first entered the stage in Holland, there were also people leaving the theatre, because they probably didn't understand his unique, brillant and (for some people)rude way of thinking. Now, Holland knows what (not) to expect from him, and he is highly appreciated. He is a very intelligent and original man, and I just hope that England will soon see that as well.

  • Well said.

  • frankie boyle has a controversial and rude act but people dont boo him or walk out of his act do they. much more intelligent comedians at the tent than this guy.

  • Yeah, but Frankie Boyle is much more known in England, isn't he? People know what to expect of him. And how do you know Hans Teeuwen isn't intelligent? The only thing you've seen of him is this. And, as djganesha already said, the critics are very enthousiastic about him and that says enough.

  • yeah but frankie boyle wasn't always a well known comedian, he had to start somewhere and unlike this guy he was successful, lets just put it this way from what i've seen of this guy (which is only in these videos) there are much better comedians, but like i said i haven't seen much of him and i missed him at latitude so i can't really judge, but i still think there are better comedians

  • Yeah, if you put it that way it sounds better. But trust me, you can't really judge if this is the only thing you've seen.

Anyway, let's just drop it now. I think we've made our point.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't think there's anyone more intelligent than this guy. He's very bright, he's just not up there to "raise" people asguys like George Carlin, Doug Stanhope or Bill Hicks did (who are also Hilarious though). But he's a smart guy with loads of talent, it's just not meant for anyone!

  • well your fucked if you don't think there is anyone more intelligent than this guy, thats just taking it too far

  • haha You have no idea how smart he is. Some people..

  • obviously smart doesn't mean the same thing in dutch.

  • actually he is, in holland he is a genius, i know people wont believe be but he is one of the best comedians out there, hes just bizarre sometimes. but the thing is.. he doesnt give a shit and goed against the governement and shit.. hans teeuwen is very good , dont underestimate him

  • i don't care what you think, mainly because your not really thinking(Y)

  • haha oh the idiots on youtube. Got to love em!

  • that doesn't make any sense at all!! You can't not care what I think if I'm not rerally thinking, that's like not caring how I drive a car because I'm not driving a car. It's stupid and idiots like you are the reason mankind hasn't evolved yet. (Y)

  • does mankind even need to evolve? surely mankind has evolved too much, thats why we have problems like global warming, and even if we do need to evolve im only 16 so i don't have any kids that can 'evolve' dippy.

  • But Frankie Boyle doesn't mislead his fans by letting his manager announce him as an intellectual comedian, I would imagine?

    ;)

    Keep well,

    greets from the NL

  • @cocochanelleke Frankie Boyle misleads his fans by saying he is a comedian

  • @chalkus

I don't know Frankie Boyle, but never mind - let's agree to disagree as far as taste in humor is concerned.

    Best wishes from the NL

    Coco

  • @ coolveertje

I dare suppose that I appreciate his unique, brilliant talent.

  • one of the best acts of the weekend! it has to be said the crowd was mostly private school twits and their parents who just didn't understand it

the 5 minute intro song and 10 minute "goodbye" just made it better in my eyes

  • actually most of the crowd wasn't private school twits because the whole running gag with the british comedians was taking the piss out of the middle class.

  • actually if you were there you will recall that 90% of the comedians commented on the festival being FULL of middle class people! yes, they were taking the piss but they knew full well who they were talking to. this is latitude we were talking about??

  • i was there and all i recall is wondering around with a load of strangers at 4 o'clock in the morning asking if anyone had acid, not exactly middle class is it? and what about the raves, they didn't really appear to be middle class, the only middle calss people were the day ticket holders because i sure as hell didn't see them camping

  • then you were one of them. not complaining like, you'll get idiots in every class. i'm just stating facts

  • i didn't really get that, do you think im middle class?

  • that explains a lot

  • Poor guy. I just dont think his comedy worked over here. I thought the sock puppet and mars bar bit was funny, the rest kinda cringeworthy. I guess when you spend the first 5 minutes of your set singing hello to the audience, it can only get worse. and it did

  • Cringeworthy, indeed; that summarizes it.

    Greetings from the NL

    ;)

  • Hans Teeuwen is a great performer. But he doesnt do "joke jokes" and "traditional comedy" because that would be a waist off his unique talent.

  • That clip reminds off the time Bob Dylan was booed in england for playing electric guitar.

  • What 'deViezerik' is trying to say is (freely translated): "stupid British people, you don't know what an great performer Hans Teeuwen is". And I think he's right.

  • ha you lot obviously don't understand the concept of humour, according to my mates sister all he did was make sex noises, and if i wanted to see people do that id go down the pub friday night

  • what does that say in english???

  • It's a immature kiddy just ignore him.

  • KANKER ENGELSEN. jullie weten niet wat voor koning hans is
