Do you even know what happened in diablo I or u havent read parts of the history... When the hero killed diablo he took diablo's soulstone and he spiked it into his head because the hero thought that he would gain more powers but he did a mistake - while spiking the soulstone, he rescued diablo's soul that was sealed into the crystal and then, the diablo's soul went into the hero's body and obsessed him. Afterwards this hero became evil..and then mephisto turned him into Diablo
