  • Interesting comment. Wrestlers in this video doing the Granby won more than 30 NCAA titles, many others were ALL-Americans. Many of the The Granbys were done in the NCAA Finals, and many were done against NCAA Champions and All- Americans.

  • common you cant even compare this with normal wrestling, those sucks!

  • some of these aren't full granbies, but rolling kneebars or petersons

  • It's the easiest thin in the world to fallow and also you can feel the granby coming and you can catch it dumb fuckin roll to do if you don't know how to do it

  • They are pretty good at the gramby but if they reached for my uead for a pin like they did here I would roll them easily. They should post or keep the hand against a high level opponet

  • @scootfor2 if you knew what you were talking about granbys can be used for escape if he doesnt follow but if he does a peterson is the finish that is taught at all levels of wrestling

  • Granby is an awesome move that's never failed for me, but I don't ever try to get pins out of it, I just get out from underneath my opponent and get my escape point.

  • @rpsyco its should be a reversal for 2 pts not an escape bro. im not trolling, just saying.

  • God damn the granby is a great fuckin' move!

  • Damn thats A LOT of Granbys . . .

  • "like" if you hate headgear.

  • i love using the granby

  • 8:15 best duck ever!!!!!!!

  • lol they make it look so easy

  • An for anyone who challenges me by saying the college wrestlers do it, they're doing the actual granby, used as an escape.

However a few werent close to a granby

  • First off, how many of these granby's were actually hit against halfway decent wrestlers?

Secondly, the Granby is an escape move, used to create seperation and get a quick level change.

Lastly, all of these are granby's into Petersons, some of them just peterson finishes.

The way the Grandby is displayed on this video makes it a garbage move.

  • @scootfor2 "how many of these granby's were actually hit against halfway decent wrestlers?"

Do you know nothing of Division 1 wrestling? All are high caliber wrestlers, silly question to ask.

  • @87elway My school is (I'm pretty sure) division 1 wrestling team, and although i love the granby it works 6/10 times and the 4/10 times it goes horribly wrong and the coaches scream and say THIS IS WHY YOU DON"T ROLL!!!!

  • @ServingTheDisch If you are only "pretty sure" your college is division 1, I am "pretty certain" you are still in Junior High or High School and have no idea what you are talking about.

  • @ObeseSquirrel Duck under

  • i cant Granby :( I wrestle at 215lbs and whenever I Granby its like earth has crashed on top of me haha. ill stick with stand ups and sit outs

  • Haha very true

  • half those are petersons.. -.- you Granby into a peterson... lol, when you high crotch into a double you can just say its just a double.

  • there is a reverse

  • my favorite move to use

  • half of these are petersons

  • GREAT VIDEO :D

  • i remember doing this is practice and i did good the 1st 2-3 times i did it. my partner eventually caught up and grabbed my legs wen i we was turning and slammed my ass back down on the mat lol

  • @ObeseSquirrel Duck Under

  • great video

  • im learning how to granby in my training after i was rolled by it..i really hope it works as well as this video

  • @mikeystanzaa this was my first year wrestling in a highschool level, i went 9-0 towards the end of the season i started to use this more and more and it got me out of reall sticky situations as long as the other guy doesnt know its coming. you will screw yourself ovr with it.

  • I cant highlights of a kickover. anyone know a video with them? its when somone shoots a highcrotch or you give them the leg and you have like a bulldog setup with them having yourleg and you roll back and end up in half

  • i always used it as an escape move o only finished with a pin once. was very effective but was caught on my back a couple of times . i would say it was my favorite move though

  • Watch "Matt Conahan Wrestling Slam" @ TheOneManWolfPak

    That is a Nasty slam!

  • this doesnt happen wen i try it... :(

  • just out of curiousity can someone tell me what those ear cover things are for?

  • @818Kushism it's called headgear. it's mandatory for high school wrestling and optional for independant wrestling programs. It's used to prevent what is known as cauliflower ear, when the ear gets mangled and misshapen from constant wear.

  • great wrestlers rarely get into blundering (bad) positions, they are too wise to fall for a "fool's mate" like chess analogy.

  • Love watching this video.I was lucky enough to attend Granby High School in Norfolk Va. where Coach Billy Martin invented this move.Check out his record. The team won 21 out of the first 22 state championship tournaments and finished 2nd when they didn't win.He was my P.E. teacher.Strong as an ox and as nice a man as I've ever met. He's gone now but lives on in this video

  • @ECHeisch the only reason why a team can win that many championships consecutively is only if graduated wrestlers came to practice and beat up on the varsity team; that is against school regulations.

  • love this move but i like the peterson variation to it cuz you have a better chance of not fuckin it up

  • a bunch of kids at our school try this and almost always flop except for the occasional good ones. I myself have done it only twice but both were successful. I know when its right to do and when its not hahah poor kids at my school.

  • Would u do this in mma

  • @iwanttofight69 u could, but it wont work well

  • attn: williamsc2738

the granby is one of the most effective moves in wrestling to date...the only "real counter" to the granby is to let go, because if you hold on ie "a good wrestler" then you will get rolled for 5...the best thing to do is let go...relaxing as you say will lead to an escape and thus getting us what we wanted..5, 2, or 1...imagine that, the only counter is letting go...huh?! think about it...

  • this is miss leading it doesnt show it working on good people only good people doing it.

  • its a good move against people that dont know how to ride. against good people though it will never work

  • @williamsc2738

So those guys doing it in the ncaa nationals are all scrubs then? if you set it up, it will always work

  • @Jayalan75 that dude clearly has never wrestled

  • i need to learn the granby.

  • You don't need to any moves at all if you know funk wrestling:O

  • @eroandfriends yea no funk is how they get back points on you. really u should just relax and stalemate cuz then u get to have a breather,

  • Frank Laccone of purdue is by far the best granby executioner ever

  • Idk iv used it alot and it's kinda my thing. it took me to fifth in state last year

  • Someone should make a video showing Granby roll disasters; I'm sure the disasters will far outnumber the successes.

  • @Blndrfist

You just suck at coaching, thats all

  • oh shit!

  • now my nephew is learning the move that can be hit from almost anywhere!!! great video

  • won the 1986 state title at 135 with a granby down by 3!!!!1

  • @grambe4win i woulkda loved to see that :D

  • at 0:22 why does he have to start kneeling?

  • @marines16301 starting position

  • fav move works alot for me

  • I wish I could granby.. everytime I try I mess up.. no one ever showed me :(

  • I used a similar move to this after seeing it in my jiu-jitsu class. I used it on our 240lb (all muscle) marine that has started training with us. I didn't even realizeI'd done it until after. But it worked! :-) Got me out of trouble quick. I used it to escape, not to try to sweep him into a pin.

  • when you granby give the kids an indian burn, its all the little things that make a difference lol

  • when you granby give the kids an indian burn, its all the little things that make a difference lol

  • Comment removed

  • i need to know this song name damnit

  • @1:45 it happened to a great bridge kid....claaaaaaaasic

  • All 3 major colleges in Iowa in a wrestling highlights vid..hell yea, lol

  • those slams to ganbies look painful

  • i gramby my grandma, she was no contest.....

  • granby roll is by far my most favorite wrestling move.

  • pretty awesome text book move. i love it. it always helped me out when i used it.

  • if u kan wrestle....u kan do anything!!! wrestling sticks with u for life

  • head spin at 6:06

  • Класссый бросочек !!!!! ;-)

  • this must be the retardss wrestling right?

  • Granby was my most used move from bottom Very effective. Only finished with Peterson once but hit the move every time. Gotta video with a couple of them. Check em out.

  • i am granby system trainded. and everyone cuts me to

  • i used this move like 10 times in 1 match and earned 11 points for reversal and escapes.

  • That's the reason people would cut me when i got on bottom.

  • yea people use to cut me all the time also but thats just because they just wanted to take me down again.

  • Neutral was never my strong suit so i hated it.

  • LOL dude at 5:58 was just like "what?"

  • excelent video (spelling?). I personally dont use the Grnby because I hardly have any experience wit it and it is a move that you NEED experience with for it to not only work, but work good. props to the guy who put the vid together

  • 6:03 was sickkk

  • Nice high lo at 0:56

  • i love granby's especially granby flips perfect move for near fall and to get your escape points.

  • lol 0:52 looks like a miss match too me...i unno lol

  • the granby roll to peterson is my favorite move of them all

  • granbys are very effective if you kno how to do it right. i always ended up getting a reversal on my oponents though. i dont think i was quick enough to get a hold on a leg.

  • its better from a standing

  • anyone know this COOL AZZ SONG???

  • Usualy to wear an under armor type shirt under the singlet, you have to have a signed not from a doctor that says you some kind of skin desease.

  • and that was a little random.....

  • haha whoa? i didn't write this? i think my friend zach did? i know nothing about wrestling.

  • no you cant where a shirt under unless your really huge

  • or a girl...

  • whats the name of the song in the second part?

  • can you wear a shirt under the tights i mean like a tight shirt elastic one

  • yeah you can wear underarmor

  • i went to the granby camp, its crazy, but i still cant ganby roll =(

  • Granbys and Fireman carries are my favorite moves.

  • The Granby is good but most wrestlers fuck themselves over

  • for real lol i got stacked because of this move, it was embarrassing.

  • @boko360

you get fucked over if u rush it or do it wrong but if its done right your all good

  • @goodbye130

    yeah!

I actually tried grandys my senior year and it was amazing!!!

  • @boko360 exactly what I was thinkin, this move can get your ass pinned quick

  • My main move from the bottom. Pinned 20 kids with that move

  • ya sure you did

  • NO dont follow the grandby...... then you get stuck in the peterson like the first two people!

  • I love this move. I won 3 of my tournamets wityh it and my 8th grade state wrestling title.

  • the granby is a great tool to have and i have used it many many times throughout my career, but i believe that it is too easily executed. all that is needed to do is to follow it or let it go. it can and is effective (as seen in the very pursuasive vidoe) but if you live by the granby you will surely die by the granby

  • @tgalwrestler its like a switch a switch will work every time against some good kids and will win you a match against a great kid maybe but my switch never stopped being phenomenal till i got a great stand up and started more motion on bottom sometimes all you need is 3-4 sit out turn ins to get away

  • @tgalwrestler well said

  • @tgalwrestler true

  • i am the varsity 112 at my high school. i use the granby alot but i can never finish it with the peterson. Any tips?

  • it sounds as if you are not getting your are without his arm in the correct position. try to get your arm either between his legs or on the other side of his body

  • i prefer to granby roll into a hammer lock and then run the half on the other side

  • i was just looking at some moves i could use for the 1000 island duals in NY on the 31st and granbies are diffently gonna b part of my arsenal if i get in :)

  • i wrestle for ganby and half of these rolls are done wrong

  • im in da 171 wieght for my highschool wrestling team and thats my favorite move to do because you rarely get catch in it

  • kuz u turn it in2 a peterson, & cael sandersons an animal, & so is cary kolat, & the guy that got cary with it must hav bin good too

  • the one 2:30 was beautiful

  • hey, i always thought granbis were useless, that video changed my mind

  • The second roll in the college wrestling part looked more like a Peterson roll...

  • yea it is good call

  • mmm...tranferable judo skills me thinks

  • yeah that's what i love about wrestling...but vice versa not effective.. you know what the completly different rules and all :(

  • i know, but we can both teach each and learn from one another

our submission skills outweigh that of BJJ (who stole our techniques) together we can beat them

foreward as one people of real sports!

  • Oh come on, BJJ "stole" submissions from judo the same way Judo "stole" them from traditional Jujutsu and Japanese wrestling. : )

  • Very Good, thank you.

Gilberto Arbues , coach of Brazil.

  • Very Good, answer mine please.

    Mr. Gilberto Arbues of Brazil.

  • Granby roll is great, used often in MMA also to get to knee bars or escape. Jiu-Jitsu guys are using it now to get out of side control (they call it the Tornado roll). Thanks for the highlights that was great.

  • I used to do this move a lot. Once i started getting it good i got injured. I've never wrestled again... It's my senior year and i never perfected this one

  • howd you get injured man D:. freshman wrestler here.

  • ill roll huh?

  • This roll is used in jiu jitsu as well, only you use it to roll back to guard.

  • wats the song called?

  • the switch is still wayyyyyyyyyy better

  • chain wrestling is way better

  • gramby roll you roll across your shoulders peterson roll you roll into your opponent to hook the leg. The peterson is when you hook the leg and get your back points or attempt a pin, granby rolls get you escapes and reversals.

  • i use 2 do this move all da time.. gud times

  • all these guys are doing is catching the leg for a pedersen. if you dont catch the leg then you just reverse him for two.

  • oh wow, I wanna learn how to do these. hey whats the first song?

  • back in high school they called me the granby king, went to state 3 years in a row because of this simple yet very effective move.

  • i love it as well. sophomore year i beat a state placer with a 5 point granby. junior year i qualified for states with a 5 point granby. this move has won me many other matches as well.

    sweet!

  • these are Peterson rolls !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Are you retarded? They were originally called Granbys another name is a peterson ok.

  • they are both different moves

  • I hate attempting Granbys...

  • who sings the songs

  • Around :55 seconds it looks like Hermitage High School in Richmond, VA. Does anyone else agree?

  • too baad you wrestle all pudds

  • hasnt failed me yet

  • all doubt lost...

  • my coach taught us the peterson roll first. well learn this one later on.

  • lol i saw someone do this at one of my wrestling tournaments. i asked my coach what it was and he said its a granby and he didn't like it because it exposes your back too much. so he wouldn't teach it to me. so of course i had to find a way to learn it to prove him wrong. lol. so i looked up video's on youtube. and i found this one last wrestling season. probably one of the most effective moves. i love it. my coach is mad i learned it but he says it works for me and he doesn't really care. hahah

  • Your coach should teach you as many moves as possible. He may not want you to use every move he teaches, but you need to know them so you know how to counter somebody who tries to hit a move on you. Example, I don't want my kids to go out and try to throw headlocks on everyone, but I teach it to them so they know what to look for so they don't get thrown.

  • I hate when coaches won't teach you moves... My coach is sucha dick about that. You gotta learn all moves so you know what's gonna happen when it's ran on you.... So much bs...

  • 3:18 That was clean as hell.

  • what are the names of the songs?

  • my coach had our 7th grade team do granbys every practice for the first 2 or 3 weeks and we can do so many of those easy lol.... even the big guys can do em

  • 0:17

his face is like saying "and that's how you do a granby"

  • I love the trinity to a granby roll, i use it almost every match, i scored a billion points with this move, i absolutly love it

  • this aint even my youtube account but

i jsut had to post a comment

love the granby just pinned a kid today in my match after i did the granby

  • Nice, did you get Varsity points or are you JV or something?

  • haha, I love that move lol. Sit out is my favorite down position

  • its not mike zadrick from iowa its mike zadick

  • sorry about that, my assistant did the video captions and I didn't catch the typo. - Keith

  • Hey could someone tell me the mane of the song playing during the college wrestling please??

  • this is sick but hard to do

  • wtf was that shit at 6:07?!

the guy like balanced on his head lmao

  • some of these arent granbys but are actually petersons. but still a great move.

  • works great for frosh soph but a one time thing, i teched a guy who repeatedly tried this just with cheap tilts off his granbys.

  • dude you got to tell me the name of the song, that's playing in the background of the college wrestling clips.
