  • i didnt know robert pattinson played the mandolin...

  • Like if your listening in 2011!!!!

  • I wish I'd appreciated them more when they were still together!!

  • These guys are so TALENTED!!!!!! They played a free concert in Ft. Collins, CO and Chris T. was kind enough to give us a private concert after the free concert :) It was one of the coolest experiences ever!! Thanks Nickel Creek for sharing your beautiful music!!!!!!!!

  • @jlundell59 When was this?!

  • @JeSuSfReAk6120 It was Aug. 2006 at the WestFest :)

  • i've been listening to these guys since i was 8

  • Shakespeare quotes their songs

  • This was the first Nickel Creek song that I heard, and I was young, and it was my first taste of truly talented music. Thank you, Nickel Creek.

  • I love listening to Sara Watkins sing....Sara has a beautiful voice

  • Nickel Creek = TALENT

  • talented group

  • BEST. SONG. EVER!!

  • Brilliant. These guys are brilliant.

  • Maybe someday they will re-group; they had something really special together.

  • Why am I seeing an add for unlady blah blah? Really people who listen to this listen to her crap too?

  • Love the end hahaha what a good. I love this song!!!

  • when that "k" breaks on "speak" it totally draws you in

  • I got turned on to Nickel Creek on the album, "This Side". I went to 2 live shows...The first was at the House of Blues in Orlando and it was the best performance ever from any show that I had been to. They played songs that we wanted to hear even after the sound and lighting guys had left...Just us and the music!!! Who does that as a group anymore

  • only blue grass group i like, nickle creeks talented they should make another album

  • @break5mine I personally find them to be far more folk than what is typically called bluegrass. But either way, its just fantastic.

  • I'm into alot of different kinds of music... mostly, I'm a metal head, but I LOVE THIS Group! The first time I heard them, they blew me away. They are the reason I started getting into bluegrass.

  • @punishmentdue73

dude i primarily listen to metal as well but this band is so talented. Most of my friends like these guy too. its quite strange.

  • <3

  • @690169 Lovely comment pal! I cant stand when people generalize an age group. If your so mature with your music grow up and allow your mind to mature. Pathetic really.

  • SARA your so HOT !!!!!!!!!

  • Thile, WHAT are you wearing, friend?! Are those cargo shorts?! hahaha! Nothin' but love for you, man! ;)

  • Why in every Nickel Creek vid does Sarah Watkins have to do that slow eye raise gesture? Yes, she's beautiful. Yes, she sings like an angel. ..But please, I can't tolerate it anymore!! I believe she's married, I'm engaged. ..It's not gonna happen Sarah...Stop with your come hither looks, PLEASE!!! ;)

  • I can say that by looking at my peers, we do lose a few to some seriously pathetic excuses of music. I wont mention names. but quite a lot of my friends are broadening there music spectrum. I myself adore this music and to be fair sometimes some of the chart things get it right. As long people realise we arent all selling our souls to some of somedays awful "music" then im happy . Nickel Creek are so wonderful in how they express their music.

  • For all the people asking what he's whispering ...

In the first verse he says , "All the cats in Wales, Sit on a wall in a row, And the wall's made of smoke"

And the second time he says, "Christmas was so much like any other in a sea- corner town, I can never remember if it snowed for 6 days and 6 nights when I was 12"

Its from A Child's Christmas in Wales by Dylan Thomas.

  • Does Chris remind anyone else of Alex Day? O.o

  • So underrated

  • @chcbrunettebabe underrated these guys were huge there was nothing underrated about them. no dissrespect intended

  • @stodd32 No I know....but if ask random people on the street, not many people have heard of them

  • @chcbrunettebabe Yea I see where you are coming from at least we found and like them thats all that matters. cheers mate

  • what is chris whispering?

  • Beautiful!,,why do EMI block UK?

  • me encanta su musica es tan relajante

  • me encanta su musica es tan relajante

  • i sant down next to

    photograph

  • Really glad my dad had me listening to stuff like this while I was growing up. I went through my heavy metal phase, but I always enjoyed stuff like this. Never enjoyed bullshit excuses for music like Lady Gaga and Justin Blabberwatsit.

  • I first heard them when I was 16...now I grew up country and gospel and was migrating to hip hop at that age...but their devotion to their sound and way of bringing a new school feel to an old school style...just amazing...If anyone has a true love for music, there is no possible reason they can't find the true beauty of the music and feel a serenity when lost in it.

  • I love how chris is totally chasing the guy at the end! its great :D

  • @kartoffel361 Although I agree it is a gross generalisation, I think you'll find the majority of teenagers live up to the stereotype. You should be proud not to be one of them rather than pondering why people perceive teen's in this way.

  • wat are te chords chris plays towards the end?

  • The girls with the bare feet are The Beu Sisters, check out their old songs on youtube and watch for heir new single coming out this fall. They are now called B.E.U. Yes they are really sisters.

  • i'm a teenager and i'm proud to say that i love nickel creek so much <3

  • What are they saying when the whisper?

  • the end of the video is hilarious. Chris chasin that dude around with his mandolin haha

  • I'm not saying I like the fact but: Like this if you think the mandolin player looks like Robert Pattinson

  • Hey i'm a teenager and I have listened to them my whole life. I love them they are what talent really is. They are so Obviously wonderful. I love them. I found them when i was like six and have always adored them. i'm sixteen. So yeah not all teens like that rock bull crap.

  • i love this music [:

it's so relaxing and amazing... :D

  • I wish Sara's singing was more predominate in Nickel Creek. She has the most ability vocally of the three. Her solo album is amazing. I saw her play two months ago and her voice was like an angel. Though she often sings softly, she has tremendous range and control.

  • I Love bluegrass and I love Nickle Creek but thought this video was a little weird.

  • @690169 I'm a teenager and i love bluegrass and i hate the Jonas Brothers and Selena Gomez

  • some of the best music ever

    what're they whispering? lol

  • It's too bad they all chose to follow solo careers. I remember being 13 and hearing them on Soundstage. I thought I would hate bluegrass until I heard "When you come back down." I'm 21 now and still love every album they've put out.

  • Most of the music today is God awful, so why did we have to lose an amazing band like this?

  • @OmgItsBunnah I'm wondering the same thing, it sucks to have to listen to the same shitty type of music and then a band comes along and makes everything fine for a while and then they disappear, so sad.

  • @boma357 yup

  • Dude! im 13 and i LOVE Bluegrass! Nickel Creek is amazing!! Mountain Heart! NFR!! IIIrd T O!!! D&V!!! It ROCKS!!!

  • why did they have to fall off the face of the earth?:(

  • @MeLrOb1994 The fact that they broke up probably doesn't help :(

  • I love Nickel Creek. The girl doesn't seem to sing to much though. I wish she would sing more she has such a pretty voice.

  • If you like this song and you want to hear Sara Watkins sing more, listen to the song "Long Hot Summer Days" by her. (Origionally written by John Hartford.)

  • @xjesse13xx

Your right, I just listen to it it was awesome thanks for sharing :)

  • DID YOU SEE THAT?? what Just happend? whoa turn around there it goes again................ it means what you want it to mean lifes a bitch then you die..

Ill try hard not to speak!

  • Nickel Creek is one of my favorite bands, love this song!

  • Woah there....not all teenagers have bad taste... I love nickel creek. I can appreciate talent when i see it...now its the teenagers brainwashed into liking mainstream rap and pop that's the problem..

  • haha i love how chris thile chases that guy while playing his mandolin.

  • That must be hard to sing while playing the violin. I love Nickel Creek! COME OUT OF HIATUS

  • ive loved them my whole life...i just cant stop listening to them

  • dude..I would freak out if I saw them at the movie theater!! ..even more so, if Chris came after me playing his mandolin :D lol

  • I LOVE NICKELCREEK !!

  • I am 13 and love them! my strings teacher noticed on my get to know me paper in the begining of the year I put I like song lyrics that mean something so her recomended this group and I now love them =]

  • really? its has much too deep lyrics for tiger beat.

all the little teenagers wouldnt understand what they are even saying.

  • By the way I wasn't referring to the last six comments

  • And then you wonder why we persist in treating you all like your a bunch of spoiled kids

  • How about a BIG NICKEL CREEK GROUP HUG!!! LOL Clearly, we are all here beacause their music touches us....young, old, yellow, black, gay, married, green, jewish, yankee, ________ (fill in YOUR blank)

  • Such an interesting story in this video, I keep coming back to it and try to find something else... the emotion on the faces are pretty telling.

  • Wow such a beautiful pre-chorus! One of my favorite songs of theirs. I've loved them since I was 10 years old :)

  • this band is fuckin rad

  • Oh yah...sorry I don't know the womens name but...extraordinary voice simply amazing

  • WOW...people are actually saying this is horrible...probably teenagers that don't know talent when they hear it...go and listen to your damn Jonas Brothers and Selina Gomez bull shit

  • Obviously you dont understand that not every teenager is obsessed with Jonas Brothers and the like. I'm 18 now and I've listened to stuff like Nickel Creek since I was like...13 or 14. It's just that not a lot of teenagers are initially introduced to a wide variety of music while growing up. Quit passing judgement on things that you dont know everything about.

  • But...most teens are obsessed with Jonas...They have no musical talent... PERIOD...

  • another 17 year old that has ridiculous respect for chris thile (the mandolinist if you didn't know) and nickel creek on whole. i find it ironic how you argue like a pre-teen though... because ending an argument with PERIOD definately strengthens your opinion...

  • What is your deal now...I was speaking the truth most of the teenagers listen to crap....deal with it

  • I'm a teenager, I beyond love Nickel Creek, I don't see how someone couldn't xD

  • @knife0them0all

I am the exact same way!! I've been a fan since I was little and most of my teenage years so far my music has been nickelcreek!

  • @690169 Yeah it sucks. Those who have talent get little recognition, and those who DON'T have talent get all the airtime!(Jonas Brothers, Selina Gomez, Kesha etc.)

  • @jiermiah

Yah know kidding huh....Kesha...HOW IN THE HELL DID SHE GET A RECORD CONTRACT?! I mean christ....O.K when Jonas Brothers sing solo in my opinion their decsent but when their together....god it's horrid and Selina Gomez holy christ her voice is comparableto thousands of paper cuts over and over and over.....

  • @690169 I love this song very much, but I also like the Jonas Brothers and Selena Gomez (one song from each because they don't play very often in my hearing). My point in saying that is you don't have to insult other music just because someone is too closeminded to like this kind.

  • @690169 You shouldn't insinuate that they're teenagers. I'm 14 years old, and I'm extremely fond of this.

  • @Ifyouwereacupcake

You and a few other teenagers are obvioulsy the rare exeption....O.K how about MOST TEENAGERS listen to bull shit like Selena Gomez and Jonas Brothers....

  • @690169 When I was 12 I think I first stumbled across their amazing music I was obsessed and now I’m 15 and I still love it but When found out in November of 2007 they were going to break up and Sara was going to perform by herself with her family I was really upset but since the I haven’t listened to any Bluegrass music since then that has been as influential in my life than Nickel Creek they are what gave me a goal to look forward to when I first started to play viola and now the mandolin...

  • @DD16Softball

Wow I went to your home page and I was blown away by your voice you can sing...seriously you can sing

  • @690169 thank you that was my first time singing it at the school this year i sang about 10 or more times for track basketball and wrestling i get nervous easly so it was hard but no one else wanted to do it maybe someday i will have a future in music i will post some more stuff later so keep watching if you'd like

  • @DD16Softball EXACTLY. I discovered Nickel Creek when I was about 10 though. And I'm 15 and still think they're amazing...I went to their last concert before their breakup & I'm still upset that they decided to go their seperate ways. They had such talent and they would've gone farther if they kept trying!! And they also inspired me to keep learning guitar (:

  • @fizzfizz28 totally true. This is music not Lil'wayne or whatever.

  • "go and listen to your damn Jonas Brothers and Selina Gomez bull shit " It's like comparing love with heroin. One is more controling, enhanced phony senses, purposeless, and damaging. Listenign to music made with hightened enthusiasm to woe your senses, yet have phony lyrics will only kill yuor sense for the more fragile real music. (Heroin will kill your ability to have real love)

  • @nagzul both are pleasurable.*

  • @690169 I'm fourteen. i listen to hardcore stuff. But I looove this band. (No rap. That takes about zero talent)

  • @cpn72

Alright !! Maybe were not done as a society after all...I do agree with you for the most part majority of rap is garbage but I do like some freestyle rappers because that shit comes off the top of their head...you should check out Aesop Rock,Immortal Technique,Mike Shinoda they freestyle rap about real issues (not about bitches, money and bling) I also like Method Mans and Red Mans freestyle as well but like I said....most rap is pure garbage

  • @690169 Mike Shinoda is the shit!!! Haha. He knows what he's doing. And yeah, I agree with you. Me and my friend sit on the bus listening to music like this and get made fun of constantly. Because according to everyone else Lil' Wayne is the best and our music takes no talent and it's annoying. Most people my age just fail anymore. Sad.

  • @690169 whoa hey now, don't automatically target teenagers. sure there are a lot who don't listen to stuff like this, but there are some of us who do appreciate it

  • @MegJ326

I didn't say all teenagers but for the majority of teenagers....yah they listen too shit music...the truth is that teenagers don't have much good music in their peer group I mean look 3OH3, Kiesha,Lil Wayne I could go on but it's not worth the effort

  • @690169 i'm a teen but you don't see me hating on select age groups and specific types of music on random youtube videos. funny how the maturity level between us is ironically inverse.

  • @battyoldhag

....If you read any of my OTHER comments I said MOST teenagers listen too GARBAGE MUSIC...and they do...consider youself a teenage minority of having good taste in music

  • @690169 i'm a teenager, and i love this

  • @690169 I really don't think you could have gotten ANY more stereotypical than this. I'm 17, and I love Nickel Creek. I have since I was little. I'm sure there are plenty of adults that don't like this, along with teenagers.

  • @strburst24 Part 1

Stereotypical....probably.....I know that not everyone like this sort of music (including Adults) I'm just saying that MOST pre and teens today don't know "Good talented music" I mean seriously Justin Bieber is one of the biggest singers today JESUS COME ON !! I'm sorry but kids are lacking good music out there look....if you put todays music up against alternative music in the early 90's majority of todays music talent for talent wouldn't have a chance

  • @strburst24 Part 2

To show you I'm not biased...my favorite singers are Shinedown, Black Keys and Amy Lee and a few others from todays music...there are a few great singers today but majority do suck ass....in all seriousness all the talent was in the early 90's great singers and ALL AROUND talent

  • Really? I guess you're either a Nickel Creek fan or you're not....I love 'em!

  • horrible?

  • They're not quite bluegrass. Though they do have influence from the genre.

  • New Grass... not Bluegrass... look up Cadillac Sky...

  • @CaptainKickAss55 I think they themselves even say that they only pull from it as roots, and that they arent actually bluegrass.

  • I'm not a huge fan of bluegrass, but I'm all of a sudden obsessed with "Nickel Creek"!

  • @jiermiah I find it to be more Folky than actually bluegrass. but I agree...LOVE their stuff. All 3 have very meshing voices.

  • Sean Watkins is really good looking and this song is gorgeous, one of my favorites.

  • Finally someone else who understands my infatuation with Sean Watkins. :] He IS good looking.

  • @hannahgracenewell As a guy, for me its ALL about Sara...over just about ANYONE lol.

  • most bands now have a definative line up./ ie one is always lead vocal. one is always background. one unique thing nickel creek was willing to do was mix up the lead vocal between songs. its a great ability to have with any band. and it draws a certain admiration you wont get with every group out there.

  • So true. All three are equally strong components of this beautiful three-part band. God, I love Nickel Creek.

  • first song i heard by nickel creek

  • its so funny at the end when chris is chasing the guy and playing

    "were not done yet man!"

haha that always makes me laugh :)

  • I loves this,,,,,yessss

  • So, I understand the song itself- it's about a guy who likes a girl and practices speaking to a photograph of her, but when he finally gets the nerve to talk to her, he screws up, and misses out.

But what exactly is the music video about?

  • The coolest movie theater ever. And british people.

  • Drugs dont take them =)

  • I think the video is about how he doesn't feel like he's being heard when he DOES speak to her....notice nobody in the theatre is paying any attention to the movie.

  • Well at least the mexicans are paying attention lol.

  • No. Sara Watkins and Sean Watkins are brother and sister. Sara does play the fiddle but Sean is the guitar player (and one of the finest in the world). Chris Thile plays the mandolin (and he probably is the finest mandolin player in the world).

    Sara - fiddle

    Sean - guitar

    Chris - mandolin

  • The guitar player is Chris-fiddler is Sara-brother and sister

  • actually the guitar player is Sean Watkins, Sara's brother. Chris is the mandolin player.

  • i would like it if they wispered a little louder

  • I think part of the point is that you can't hear what they're whispering.

  • i love them!!!

  • Chris Thile. /drool.

  • oo, al right, i remembered like 30 seconds after i posted that, i felt stupid :s

  • what is the instrument the guy is holding? not the singer, but the other dude

  • chris thile plays the mandolin

  • A mandolin?

  • It is a mandolin.

  • Nickel Creek! <3

  • Love it.

  • and very underrated song. so compositionally rich

  • whats underrated mean?

  • It means it doesn't get the awards and accolades it deserves; unlike miley cyrus, who IMO is way overrated.

  • Oh okay thanks

  • Very underrated band ,great sound
