well if you know about mercury MISTAKES, you would know that these engines usually completely crap out on you at around 60-100k miles.. i think ive only had to replace the alternator once (a pain in the ASS in these cars) and a few other small things... yet other people have had water pumps fail multiple times on these cars, water pumps, head gaskets, idle pulleys (lol...) catalytic converters... tons of shit on these cars is NOTORIOUS for just failing on these cars...

ok your the expert on that, that's why I prefer honda, just had to replace transmission 1 time on My Honda Odyssey and it got like 2,30k km and still work like a charm and honda civic with 1,3k km with no problem at all. I dont know about mercury, I guess your right on what you said.

i've had my honda since 1995 and it still performs beautifully every time i drive it. i keep it healthy and it does what i need. an oil change every 3k and driving it nicely, not abusively, and it gets me where i need to go. the only problem was the exhaust, and i replaced it for 150 for one that i found at a junkyard. runs fine, maybe better than some domestic cars.

its not an intrepid. its a mercury cougar with a 3.0 duratec piece of shit v6. but yeah the intrepids with the 2.7L V6 have MAJOR problems, get an intrepid with the 3.5 and you'll be fine. the 2.7's sludge up.
