Thank you for the reply SYonger .I understood that if we have awareness of I exist in sleep it leads to 4th state of consciousness Turiya . Swamiji has said four hours of deep sleep is enough , so that means four hours of sleep without dreams but since it is deep sleep the I exist feeling will not be there for those 4 hours , is that right ?
Yes, you are right. If deep sleep is not a problem for you, it means you had made progress as your 4 layers of energy bodies are already cleansed i.e. physical, pranic, mental & etheric layers. For now, further sharpening of our awareness thru unclutching meditation will give us a glimpse of the Turiya state. Staying there will require further purification inner work by acquiring a yogic body & vedic mind. The Ultimate experience is purely by the grace of Master. :-)
I am a little confused .I generally get good sleep because when I get up I feel fresh and I dont remember any dreams but at the same time the sense of I exist during sleep is not there . So does anyone know what state this is ?
The state you are referring is the 3rd state of consciousness i.e. deep sleep (sushupti). The state Swamiji is referring is the 4th state - Turiya state (Samadhi) i.e. awareness while in deep sleep. :-)
Amazing! GO TO INDIA AND VISIT HIM! You'll never be the same, I promise you.

With Vitarka, you can easily tune in to Him like additional TV channel. ;-)
Then there's no more feeling of separation as He dwells in your heart.
