I saw at Target a book by Joel Osteen. It wasnt "Your best life now", but something even worse. It was called "How to be happy 7 days a week". Hope Osteen doesnt believe in hell. Idk how anyone that has read the Scripture with a contrite heart, to come up with garbage that he does. And i would be terrified of God's Judgment. But Paul wasnt lying when he said 2 Timothy 4.
I think the guy that's preaching here touched on a vital problem with the modern day church. No matter how we try to twist it with our fancy words and absurd new doctrines, the bible makes it clear. John the Baptist did not come preaching about how to raise your self ego. He came preaching to a people that rejected God (once again), and told them that it was time to repent. I really wish i could hear more preachers preach against sin and help us turn our eyes back to the basics of God's word.
John did not preach the gospel of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. No Jew who came for Baptism believed in the death of Christ. Christ also in Matt 4 speaking repent was kingdom preaching. Jesus mentioned nothing of His death and resurrection.No disciple who went out preaching (the seventy) believed in the death of Christ LK18:24 they did not understand His being crucified. Neither John or Jesus had yet preached the gospel for the Church age (grace) John preached works not grace.

You need to read the whole book of Galatians and also the book of acts. The law can never save; it is our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ adn it shows us God's holy standard that we can never attain. That's why yeshua had to come and die for us. Also Gentiles are never told in scripture to try to be a Jew.
I have read several hundred versions of Galatians and translated my own copies of Galatians.
And you need to read the entire Scriptures. You need to pay special attention to what the Creator taught regarding the Law, and what Y'shua taught regarding the Law.

There is no such thing as "originals", we have over 5,800 Greek text, and not 2 of them agree, and there are over 10,000 copies of Latin. The Textus Receptus a compilation of various text that date no older, for the most part, then 1,000 AD. It is a compilation of what they THINK the originals would say , and the KJV is not even a accurate translation of the TR. There are anywhere between 200,000 and 500,000 variations in the text.
@bigritchie Isn't there a xripture in oBadiah or Micah that says God will do away with new moons, feasts, and the Sabbath. The Sabbath is the only commandment of all the ten commandments that is not touched on in the New Testament as far as one needing to keep it. Jesus Himself even rebuked the Pharisees adn said the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. I'm not saying we shouldn't keep the 10 commandments - that's obvious but do we keep the other 600+ too? Think about it.

A fact is that when we read in Josephus Wars 5:9:2 (Josephus lived during the time of Yeshua and even references Him as well as John the Baptist) we see that Josephus testifies that the people didn't even understand Greek. Greek was the national language. The old testament was actually also translated into the language of the day, so they more than likely would not have referred to him as Yahushua as the apostles preached of him. Check out your New Testament history :)

Although I understand your point. That is not how it went down throughout the rest of the Bible. Your theology is such that of a phylosophy of salvation rather then that act of it. Repent was still the first step throughout the testimony of the apostles and baptism. Then God fills people with the Holy Spirit after they are washed and burried in baptism. They are now new creatures in Christ for His Spirit is in them.
If only the church would get off this belief only doctrine they might just realize that preaching is essential. The Bible says how could they be saved without a preacher. And commands us all to go out and preach being instant in season and out of season.

He did preach the kingdom of God which was the Gospel. The Gospel is not formulaic thing we preach today. It is that the Kingdom of God and Salvation was at hand. When John preached this he baptized people Jesus and the Apostles. Why would they command unregenerated to repent for the Kingdom of God was at hand if they could not. Slightly off topic: I think people ought to get over they're innate fear of Jews and Muslims, and start asking some questions, as well. After all, they are of the same bloodline. Comparing and contrasting is the way to go, if you ask me. I thank God that HE did not give to one preacher everything we need to know...we have MAN..N..NY Preachers that the HOLY SPIRIT uses to impart HIs WORD into our spirits..not every thing a preacher preaches appeals to any one person but we take what is for us and meditate on that part. I feel very sorry for any Christian who only listen to Preachers and do not read and study the WORD of GOD for themselves and allow the HOLY SPIRIT to bring light to that WORD for their individual life.
I listen to Joel Osteen and I am encouraged and strengthened in my christain walk. It is not for anyone to judge another man's servant. We sreve one God in one hope and one faith..One Holy Spirit who gives each christian believer their varying gifts...STOP BASHING each other and get on with preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ as He has given you utterance!! Only problem that i see with your comment is this: There is a lack of doctrine. Something that Apostle called timothy to do, and many times mentioned in his epistles. With no doctrinal foundations, we would be as you described, under 1 faith (that is faithless) and under 1 God (that is Godless), and living in unity (that is loving sin, and hating God.) Oh I forgot. Olsteen doesn't preach about sin. Something that the Holy Spirit Came to do, but can't do through good ol' joel.
I agree that Doctrine is the bed-rock of the Christian faith and is very crucial to how we live our daily lives. I think it is a bit extreme to say that the Holy spirit can't get Joel to preach about sin....Is it about what the Holy Spirit want him to say ..or what you think that he should say???

The bible has outlined the procedure for having ought against thy brother. Have you guys genuinely tried to befriend Joel and for the sake of the Gospel (and not your own ministries) and try to advise him? Christians are not to operate as the world. The Bible says we are not to judge others, the truth is that we are to "Test the Spirit" (1 John 4:1) to see if it is from God. The bible is very specific when it comes to someone presenting a message or doctrine to us that they claim to be the Word of God. Our first duty according to the Bible is to test what God has said regarding this doctrine with His Word the Bible. I believe that Joel Osteen teaching do not hold true to this standard.
Obviously you are unaware of what a prophet is, a prophet is one who is given the gift to preach repentance to humanity and to warn of God's wrath for disobedience. The message once received is a revelation and the delivery of the message is prophecy. So if you argue that Joel is not a prophet, then he has not the abilty to preach repentance, warn of Gods wrath or deliver revelation, this would make him a false prophet.
You speak of saving people, yes that why it is important that these charlatans be exposed so that no one, no not even the very elect be decieved.. We should never reley on men to displace Jesus with their false doctrines, instead we should seek guidance from God. I think the guy that's preaching here touched on a vital problem with the modern day church. No matter how we try to twist it with our fancy words and absurd new doctrines, the bible makes it clear. John the Baptist did not come preaching about how to raise your self ego. He came preaching to a people that rejected God (once again), and told them that it was time to repent. I really wish i could hear more preachers preach against sin and help us turn our eyes back to the basics of God's word.

John did not preach the gospel of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. No Jew who came for Baptism believed in the death of Christ. Christ also in Matt 4 speaking repent was kingdom preaching. Jesus mentioned nothing of His death and resurrection.No disciple who went out preaching (the seventy) believed in the death of Christ LK18:24 they did not understand His being crucified. God expects you to pay attention when you read the Bible and actually engage your brain. John's message was to a people who had rejected God. We have a better covenant based on better promises and "the Church" isn't facing the rejection of God. "These people" shouldn't be your concern, but you should learn how to hear God. If you do, you'll find that He won't say, "Preach against Joel."
You should have enough sense to know this.

You need to read the whole book of Galatians and also the book of acts. The law can never save; it is our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ adn it shows us God's holy standard that we can never attain. That's why yeshua had to come and die for us. There is no such thing as "originals", we have over 5,800 Greek text, and not 2 of them agree, and there are over 10,000 copies of Latin. The Textus Receptus a compilation of various text that date no older, for the most part, then 1,000 AD. It is a compilation of what they THINK the originals would say , and the KJV is not even a accurate translation of the TR. There are anywhere between 200,000 and 500,000 variations in the text.

@bigritchie Isn't there a xripture in oBadiah or Micah that says God will do away with new moons, feasts, and the Sabbath. The Sabbath is the only commandment of all the ten commandments that is not touched on in the New Testament as far as one needing to keep it. Jesus Himself even rebuked the Pharisees adn said the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. I'm not saying we shouldn't keep the 10 commandments - that's obvious but do we keep the other 600+ too? Think about it.

Their also were spiritualists adn Atonement Denyers. They even went to the point of saying Christ's sacrifice was immoral. The early church mainly were taught by the apostles adn had the old testament to go by. The Early church fathers from 200A.D. and older back up the TExtus REceptus in their own writings.

If you reject Galatians, you must also reject Hebrews, the Book of Acts, and practically every other new testament book because they all talk abotu living by the spirit adn not the law. If one is truly saved, and the holy spirit is living in them, they will commune with the Lord every day and fulfill the law of God automatically because "it will have been written in their hearts". That's even an old testament prophecy.

A fact is that when we read in Josephus Wars 5:9:2 (Josephus lived during the time of Yeshua and even references Him as well as John the Baptist) we see that Josephus testifies that the people didn't even understand Greek. He had to translate what the Greek speaking Romans had to say to the Jews in order for them to surrender. In other words... they didn't know Greek!

Greek was the national language. The old testament was actually also translated into the language of the day, so they more than likely would not have referred to him as Yahushua as the apostles preached of him. Check out your New Testament history :)

John preached the gospel of the law which included works.Christ in Matthew 4 was still preaching the gospel of the kingdom under law to the Jew, still works.There was no gospel yet for the Church. Although I understand your point. That is not how it went down throughout the rest of the Bible. Your theology is such that of a phylosophy of salvation rather then that act of it. Repent was still the first step throughout the testimony of the apostles and baptism. Then God fills people with the Holy Spirit after they are washed and burried in baptism. They are now new creatures in Christ for His Spirit is in them.

He did preach the kingdom of God which was the Gospel. The Gospel is not formulaic thing we preach today. It is that the Kingdom of God and Salvation was at hand. When John preached this he baptized people Jesus and the Apostles. Why would they command unregenerated to repent for the Kingdom of God was at hand if they could not. Acts 2 Peter was preaching and then a guy asked what must I do to be saved. Peter replied repent everyone of you and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

Slightly off topic: I think people ought to get over they're innate fear of Jews and Muslims, and start asking some questions, as well. After all, they are of the same bloodline. Comparing and contrasting is the way to go, if you ask me. I talk to them alot. and I have been very nasty to both groups in general. In my personal life I've spent money on Jewish people i liked. But in religion I get very offended by jews and muslims. Never seen Jews blowing themselves up, but I guess the Muslims feel desperate enough to take such actions?
It's certainly not Christian to take another persons life. we are all of the same bloodline, and the jews and muslims don't know that! It explains alot of their issues in the middle east.

I thank God that HE did not give to one preacher everything we need to know...we have MAN..N..NY Preachers that the HOLY SPIRIT uses to impart HIs WORD into our spirits..not every thing a preacher preaches appeals to any one person but we take what is for us and meditate on that part. We sreve one God in one hope and one faith..One Holy Spirit who gives each christian believer their varying gifts...STOP BASHING each other and get on with preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ as He has given you utterance!! Only problem that i see with your comment is this: There is a lack of doctrine. Something that Apostle called timothy to do, and many times mentioned in his epistles. With no doctrinal foundations, we would be as you described, under 1 faith (that is faithless) and under 1 God (that is Godless), and living in unity (that is loving sin, and hating God.) Oh I forgot. Olsteen doesn't preach about sin. Something that the Holy Spirit Came to do, but can't do through good ol' joel.

It is amazing how life goes... nothing is new on this earh and we as Christians read the bible and yet keep making the same old mistakes..all of us.!!!. Just speaking out against certain things, like false teachings - such as so called Prosperity gospel that is so popular right now, receiving "blessings" without proper, biblical repentance...It is alot easier to hear a message filled with "good tidings", but it will not renew, refresh and sanctify your life. You will not become a new creature in Christ that way...not without repentance and obedience to God's will.

The Bible says we are not to judge others, the truth is that we are to "Test the Spirit" (1 John 4:1) to see if it is from God. The bible is very specific when it comes to someone presenting a message or doctrine to us that they claim to be the Word of God. Our first duty according to the Bible is to test what God has said regarding this doctrine with His Word the Bible. I believe that Joel Osteen teaching do not hold true to this standard.

Obviously you are unaware of what a prophet is, a prophet is one who is given the gift to preach repentance to humanity and to warn of God's wrath for disobedience. The message once received is a revelation and the delivery of the message is prophecy. So if you argue that Joel is not a prophet, then he has not the abilty to preach repentance, warn of Gods wrath or deliver revelation, this would make him a false prophet.

You speak of saving people, yes that why it is important that these charlatans be exposed so that no one, no not even the very elect be decieved.. We should never reley on men to displace Jesus with their false doctrines, instead we should seek guidance from God. I believe that I would suffer harshly if I didnt speak out against these detestable doctrines.

The prosperity gospel is a lie, but as to preaching......BOTH kindness (compassionate preaching) AND fire and brimstone preaching are legitimate preaching techniques. Do not condemn either....unless you deny the Word of God!!! Jude:1:22: And of some have compassion, making a difference:

W must repent from our unbelief in christ and turn to belief in christ and christ alone. Its important to remember that being a good christian does not get you to heaven. Ephesians 2:8 and 9 says that salvation is by grace and works have nothing to do with it. If you have been trusting in Jesus + you to get to heaven then you dont have faith in christ alone. Faith in Christ's finished work is what gets you saved

Not true. He is preaching the truth but not everyone is willing or able to receive it. It's not about your best life here on earth as much as it's about eternal life. Seek first the kingdom of God and all it's righteousness and everything else will be added to you (paraphrasing). He is not trying ot beat up on anyone or bring anyone down...he's just telling the truth.

Yeah, right. Joel openly denied Jesus as the only way to heaven on the Larry King show. A public testimony...or should I say non-testimony of the saving grace of Jesus Christ alone. But don't blame Joel Osteen....my golly gee.....if he had said Jesus was the ONLY way....why old Joel's book sales would suffer.....wouldn't they? Praise God for the message of REPENTANCE!!! Could it be so many do not want to hear that because of rebellion, the desire to continue in sin, and they think they are "good enough" without repenting. The Bible declares ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. We are not "good enough" . The blood of Jesus atones for our sins. Only belief in Jesus and true repentance can save a soul. Souls weigh in the balance!

filolll, Don't understand your comments about the use of hebrew/greek texts when it comes to use in breaking down certain passages of the Bible (sometimes for better understanding of the Word), and how exactly can it lead them back to 'romanism'? Also, what's with the 'labels' (Calvinists, etc.), when Kieler is giving the scriptures as they should be given and not 'sugar-coating' them? The 'Bible' says to preach the Word to others because there are those who haven't heard the Word of God.

maybe this'll help. all of the various hebrew/greek dictionaries,lexicons, interliners dont even agree w/ one another. which one you gonna believe? or did God preserve His word for the English speaking people somehow? this is leading back to the "mother church" of rome. the priest spoke latin in mass cause, supposedly, only they knew the true meaning of the words. these promoting and using in sermons the 'original heb/gr' meanings are saying the same thing. leading to 1 world religion

beauty4ash, Can I ask if you've ever heard Joel 'preach' on sin and repentance, when it comes to Christians and non-christians as well? Joel stated he doesn't mention the word 'sin' because those who join his 'church' are already Christians, and he doesn't want to 'beat them down' with the 'sin' word. If we're naming the name of Jesus and 'preaching "His" Word then shouldn't we be preaching the "whole" Word, and not just the parts that 'we' enjoy?Galations 1:8 says it all & Joel needs prayer.
