I hope I haven't got this wrong, but were Creatures Inc. not initially formed from part of Ape Inc, who made the Mother games, before being ultimately assimilated into Game Freak? It doesn't surprise me to hear similarities in the songs- compare N's Farewell to Mother 3's 16 Melodies, which in itself samples Mother and Mother 2's 8 Melodies.

@ChromaAurora You got it right for the most part, but while Ape did work on Earthbound, they did not work on Mother 3 so somebody else is behind the similarities.

@VGMusicMaker I think the name might have been Brownie Brown, but I don't know whether that's a reformation of Ape or not. I'm sure Shigesato Itoi composed the music anyway.

I can't remember who does the rest of the Pokémon music that isn't the battle themes- I only remember Junichi Masuda's name. I don't feel surprised to hear a similarity in any case.
