  • It's all great fun until the family pet gets carried off and eaten for dinner.

  • turn the fucking light off

  • Where in Minnesota was this taken?

  • Oh, so THIS is the owl call we're so familiar with. It just occurred to me. :D

  • i confused i read bible and like crstalys we determine what that ruby etc is now days , so this horn owl does not have horn how we determine bible owls and ruby color n topaz u know like the holy breast plate so then y do we not of what colors are dinsours n wich are mammals n voice spoken how that even work with modern days? i see no horn as see no color in bible crystals? is it yet be science proven wrong added information? ruby is pink as red emerald dark as light green but how so?

  • @MrKtaniguchi what are you smoking, and where can I get some?

  • How peaceful.

  • I hear the same call coming from my back yard in SC. I spotted a large owl the other night at dusk.

  • One of nature's greatest night sounds. Very cool.:-)

  • ........................

  • That is definitely a great horned owl. I have one in my backyard also. I named it ollie:) It hoots everyday at 6 in the morning, 15 minutes before i get up and get ready for school. PErfect thing to wake up too!

  • Finally, I found it out! I hear this sometimes, coming from above the second floor of my home. I think we have one of these livin in our attic :>

  • this video sucks cock!

  • @pureperil i know right? its so much like your mom when she needs her drug money for crack.

  • I'd be shtg a brick. It's cold, you can hear the wind and then............the owl!

  • P.S. BTW this is positively NOT a Barred Owl, I've heard both in the wild, they sound completely different. Great Horned Owl sounds solemn and wild, but (IMO) the Barred Owl call is downright spooky because its voice has a creepily "humanoid" quality, like someone imitating an owl, except there's no-one there, just a faraway owl and the black black night outside your little tent.... :-)

  • 100% Great Horned Owl, the wild call of a powerful nocturnal predator, the perfect thing to hear on a cold cold snowy night isn't it? :-)

  • Merry Christmas. Man its august now but this video looks cold.

  • Does ANYBODY know the name of that owl that makes a distinctive 4-part call usually during the day/morning? It goes kind of like this: (Who, Who, Whoooo,Who) with a longer third "who". I live in Western Washington and have looked up great horned owls, Barred owls, barn owls, and screech owls, and still can't find it anywhere on the entire internet. It's very pretty and not very uncommon here. Thank you very much.

  • @youarelovedSOmuch You have given a very accurate description of a dove call. Try listening to mourning dove calls and see if they sound like what you heard. You're far more likely to hear doves in daylight than you are owls. Mourning doves are found all over America and are very common.

  • do every owl make the same sound? (hoot)

  • @chapipo4 No, Barn Owls screech, Western Screech owls whistle, and Barred Owls make a call that sounds like "Who cooks for you?"

  • yup that's a great horned

  • HOOOO Hooo hooo GOES THERE!!!

  • imagine hearing this in the woods at twelve o'clock midnight this a sasquatch nearby scary.

  • Such a calming call...wish I could see one down in NYC.

  • @GrayTwilight1 I just heard one near Albany.

  • your correct its the ole great horned owl have them in our woods also nice sound aye! bruce in michigan

  • All these comments, if accurate, are just what I needed. We definitely have a pair of these in Carver, MA. as we hear them just about everynight. To us it's such a pleasant sound. Any ideas, comments on taking care of a baby that may have been abandoned by the parents?

  • northern spotted owl

  • I have one doing this right now, how do I keep them coming back.?

I live around land and on water, but I want hem around my yard.

  • they tend to like to stay high up in trees that have a small clearing around. if you have binoculars, you should be able to spot some sort of nest if you look around carefully. do u hear two different sets of ho-ho hoo hoo's, one being a different pitch? they should stay around the area for a while, specially if they have a clutch of nestlings

  • I love Owls and the Great Horned is my favorite and Ive been dying to see one in the wild. I live in a residential town right off Lake ontario out side of Toronto. I'm hoping one might pay a visit sometime. I know this is the start to their mating season and they are more active so I'm hoping that I might spot one or hear one.

  • Jenny Burke33 --> Not sure what town you're speaking of but if you're in Oshawa, go to Harmony Valley Dog Park at Rossland/Harmony. 2 nights ago I saw 3 Great Horned owls and tonight I saw a Barred Owl. Was only 10 feet away and completely fine with me. If you go at dusk right now you will at least hear one.

  • Yeah I will deffintaly check that out thanks

  • One across the street in the woods right now! Springs, East Hampton, LI, NY

  • Nice capture - This is eXACTly who was in my neighbor's yard last night at 330 am! (I am a late-nigh owl myself! ;)) My camera didn't record it's sounds last night though :( !!ust came a Goog-i-ling to try and determine which species I heard. I've listened to at least a dozen, and 4 of the Great Horned Owl as well - this one is identical to what I heard - thanks! :)

  • I worked with at a Raptor rehab center. That's definitely a Great Horned Owl. And they have some awesome Talons too, big & curved!!!

  • OWLS

  • OWLS!!!!!!!!!!

  • Owls are my favorite creatures. I want to have the great horned owl around my house but i have only the barred owl. I think there is about 2 or 3 around my house. Great horned owls eat barred owls so i know there is no great horned owls around my house if there is barred owls. Eastern screech owls are so cute. they are common in mass where i live but there is none in the woods near me cuz barred owls eat them.

  • COOL DO U LOVE OWLS

  • Owls rarely eat one another. I have both great horned owls, and barred owls, but almost never here them. I live in Upstate NY, and I've heard the great horned owl, and seen a barred owl.

  • Definetly Great Horned owl. Great Video Perfect Christmas night.

  • Its great, hearing it. But its haunting. It sends chills down my spine when I hear them. Its majestic, is the best way to put it.

When it gets around mating season for them, they go absolutely crazy, making some of the WEIRDEST sounds you've ever heard.

  • Definitely a Great Horned Owl. We live in the mountains of Virginia and have them around our place a lot. That one is a female's call.

  • Most owls are butt ugly, though I have to say the great horned owl is a beautiful bird.

  • A great horned owl is a beautiful bird. So is an Eastern Screech Owl

  • you suck butt owls are all butiful

  • @SirianKings "Most owls are butt ugly" ....this is one of the most bizarre comments on birds that I've ever read. Congratulations. I guess.

  • Nah, thats a great horned owl 100%. We have them all around our house.

Female, not big but not small, probably just entered breeding age. The male call is very deep, very haunting. The females is higher pitched, and lighter.

  • its picture

  • my cousins are lucky because they sleep in there camper sometimes and they hear the barred owl sooo cool

  • to tell you the truth this is a great vid i only hear owls in the early mourning but i ten to see them mostly in the day(exsample i was hunting and in this huge pine i saw a barred owl not calling just hunting) most owls dont just comeout at night they just mostaly call at night

  • hahaha! this makes my dog go crazy....he had never barked so loud! it is really funny!

  • noah's great horned owl

  • Owls are my favorite animals, and that was definitely a Great Horned Owl.

  • you and the guy balow yoou are s o wright owls are the best

  • Owls are the best *HOOOOOOOOOT*!

  • Only great horned owls hoot like that.

  • i live in indiana, but i have owls around my house that sound exactly like that.

its wooded, but not woods, a feild, yeah.

But my dad and i hoot at it, and it always hoots back. There has been alot of owls by my house lately. I heard one like 20 min. ago and its 12 am O.O

I didnt know owls were usually sittin around, or flyin in the daytime. i thought it was only night'?

  • Most owls are nocturnal (active at night) but there are a few that are active during the day.

  • Definitely a different sounding owl than what we have in Alabama. I dont think we have the Great Horned down here. That hooting was a little more distince than the owls down here who sound a little more raspy.

  • we have barred owls down here.

  • I love the sound, owls are truly beautiful

  • I har this exact owl hooting outside my window almost every night!

    To me itis very soothing.

    I live in Califoria.

  • This was a cool video I love owls and listening to their calls it's very peaceful and relaxing

  • This one is especially nice because you can almost hear an echo! I love owls as well!!

  • About how far away do you think it was? It was so quiet outside-no dogs barking, cars going by or people talking. Great video!!

  • Yes, it's the Great Horned Owl

  • It would be fun to try and attract some of these with your own great horned owl hoot.

I think I might just try that :)

  • lol thats the horror movie owl sound

  • definently Great Horned. id know i have held one on my arm.my school has a raptorcenter, and they make this an other noises, like clicking and hissing, which creep me out. EKH

  • its a great horned. Ive heard them sound different than this down in Mississippi at night. a beautiful sound on a quiet night. Hoot back in the same pattern for another return hoot.

  • that would scare me to live there,it just looks so peaceful, too peaceful!

    lol

  • i believe it is a great horned also... keep in mind that a lot of times a female's call will be different from a male's. so it doesn't always have to be the exact same number or pattern of hoots every time you hear them. i agree with jimmyjoelard, the tonality is the same, i'd be REALLY surprised if wasn't a great horned.

  • Thanks for everyone's comments.

  • what a hoot!

  • Hi this is not agreat horned owl, it is a similar species I forget the name I'll ask my teacher. In one of my classes we had to identify owls by their calls and I know that is not a great horned owl but I'll find the name for you

  • I don't know what you've been listening to but, it is most certainly a Great Horned Owl ! I don't think you really know the species. Not ripping you, just informing you.

  • I thought Great Horned Owls had long, leisurely four-note calls.

  • I agree that it's a Greathorn. The caller's pattern seems different from the GHOs where I live, north of San Francisco, where I would expect "Hoooo. Hoo. Hoo." Yours says, "Hoo-hoohoohoo. Hoo.". But the tonality is strictly the same. And the responder's pattern sounds quite like what I'm used to.

It's surely not a Barred Owl.
