I like the sort of secrecy of this band, where it's not really a complete band but more of the orchestrations and ideas made real by two musical geniuses. And watching them live, you see an equality between everyone, even Albarn who seems to be a focal point in the band yet he hides himself in a shadow, like how everyone hides behind four cartoon characters.

If anyone had direct tv, on channel 101 last year they had a live gorillaz concert on it all july and at the end of the concert they did reveal the band members. So they dont always hide, but i assume as the band is supposed to be animated they hide the real people so you can watch the animated members..could be wrong

when the gorillaz first got famous the band members did not want to deal with being famous and they are all in their late twenties and thirties - not the kind of people you'd probably associate with the image of the band. it was a combination of marketing by music executives and personal preference of the band
