Iams has claimed to have reformed their ways and that they no longer experiment on dogs and cats, yet 700 of them still get locked in cages in a cold lab for testing. They insist that their animals are given standard living conditions, yet they won't let PETA into the lab. They hire universities to induce painful diseases in dogs for 'safely monitired research'. The kennels shown were truly inadequate and in my opinion cruel for the dogs to be put on which would cause the behavior of the animals shown...
... to back this up, i will first point out that NO WHERE in this video is Iams signage shown, nor the company name mentioned, second the dogs pictured on the floor, while having suffered horrible skin injuries, were RECOVERING from surgery, that is why they were on the floor, where it is safest when there are no kennels available to put them in, and why their heads were swaying, VERY common for surgery recovery. no cause for the injuries was stated either...

Iams is already on my "Boycott" list as one of the worst foods that you could feed your pets. When you buy REAL food with NATURAL ingredients, there is no need for animal testing. I feed my dog Taste of the Wild or I make homemade food. I spend more, but it's important to know what my dog eats and not to support operations like this. The only reason that a company would need to test their food is if their ingredients aren't human grade.

I get that they have to test to make sure it's safe.But there should be a law as to how long each animal should stay, like after a month they get put up for adoption. those dogs in the beginning are over feed a type of new food they create and then their hips and thighs are cut off for testing. the dogs are awake during everything.

Unfortunately Iams still keeps up to 700 dogs and cats in its Dayton, Ohio, laboratory for nutritional studies. They claim that this laboratory provides a decent environment for the animals, but they refuse to allow a PETA representative to see inside. Iams also gives large sums of money for cruel, invasive animal experiments.

Absolutely shocking. I wish more companies were exposed in this way so the public can steer well clear of their products ( not just their pet foods, look at their other products as well !!!!! ), I can assure you my cash won't be going their way.
I've got 4 dogs and spend a tidy sum on food.

Whiskas, Pedigree, Royal Canin, and now even Nutro is affiliated with animal testing, whom are all affiliated with the umbrella bastard company Mars Co. (snickers, m&ms, skittles, etc) boycott them ALL! If you're not sure if a certain company is affiliated with animal testing, try googling the company's name with the words cruelty or animal testing and see if anything comes up. Spread the word, please.

Iams is already on my "Boycott" list as one of the worst foods that you could feed your pets. When you buy REAL food with NATURAL ingredients, there is no need for animal testing. I feed my dog Taste of the Wild or I make homemade food. I spend more, but it's important to know what my dog eats and not to support operations like this. The only reason that a company would need to test their food is if their ingredients aren't human grade.

I'm sorry, I missed the part that proves the footage was shot over 9 months. How do I know this was at one facility? And I missed the part that named the people, facility, and owners of the animals, in this video. I definately missed the sound. I also don't seem to recall the part that pins this to Iams. Put these pics on the shelf next to their product. It's not like any of that stuff is any good. If you actually cared for your pets, you would cook for them as you do for yourself- minus the obvious foods to avoid. My dog NEVER saw any of that crap and lived a happy, healthy life.

I get that they have to test to make sure it's safe.But there should be a law as to how long each animal should stay, like after a month they get put up for adoption. I would pay more $for a dog food that expires quicker, take the chemicals that they already know are safe&use natural ingredients&they wouldnt have to test on animals at all.They can have a paid human to test the end product.The world needs to rewind back to 1950&stay there!

I have two dogs and I tell everyone I know and meet, not to buy Iams. Shocking carryon with those lovely dogs being treated so badly.

Unfortunately Iams still keeps up to 700 dogs and cats in its Dayton, Ohio, laboratory for nutritional studies. They claim that this laboratory provides a decent environment for the animals, but they refuse to allow a PETA representative to see inside. Iams also gives large sums of money for cruel, invasive animal experiments.
I urge everyone to boycott Iams until the company stops conducting or funding laboratory experiments. Thanks.

Some people that I told however don't care about what iams does, they said "Who cares, its good for my dogs, and doesn't cost that much."

I agree- i used to work in recovery as a vet tech -in a animal hospital- they arent in pain...but why are those dogs recieving surgery? usually seeing tons of beagles is a tell tale sign of experaments- and lab testing. i stopped using iams a few yrs ago after hearing about the poor treatment of their test animals- i use an organic dog food now-that doesnt test on animals
