Excellent parody. The VCR you used back then must have had a very good flying erase head, because I only saw the "rainbow effect" on a couple of the shots. The insert shots are perfect and otherwise undetectable. I laughed so hard when I saw the Alpo being spooned into the pan!

I am certain that Ms. Child would have enjoyed this. The parody was all quite spontaneous: I just happened to record GMA that day for whatever reason I can't recall. Not being a gourmand - I am strictly meat & potatoes - I saw this as an opportunity to poke fun at my own biases against exotic foods. My brother helped me record the insert videos three or four days after this first aired, and without any fancy video equipment, only a second VCR. An identical shirt and some great props helped.
