  • @bongzynskywycz.

What you talking, lyrical talent, longevity story-telling or just in general?

Because I agree he wasn't lyrically superior, but his story-telling and lyrical guidance was powerful (Code of the Streets etc).

I mean c'mon man you can't deny his rhymes were pretty effective, precise and direct, not to mention positive.

I mean the art of positive rhymin' is almost dead, to the extent it reaches the masses I mean, Guru kept it alive or helped keep the door open a little at least.

  • @backinthadayz I completely agree 100%, good feedback.

  • 4 people are bio engineered mutated chickens

  • i just put up the instrumental

  • RZA>preemo

  • @Charlie47912 Ah come on now... To me it's impossible to have a top 5 (for example) list of greatest producers. RZA differs too much from Premo production wise. Pete Rock has also a much different style of sound. Same with DJ Spinna, Marley Marl, Large Pro, Buckwild etc... they all sound different. They're all number 1 to me. Just pure geniuses of the hip hop genre.

  • This shit is ineffable. Youngins better recognize.

  • I was blasting this Joint in the whip last Summer in '11.

  • BEZ DAC L I NY NY... THE ILLEST ERA..

  • Any list of top 5 producers that don't have the Rza in there ain't worth a shit

  • @KiNgGRAffiti94 im gonna put that as my status on fb lol

  • When i was 14 would Freestyle to the beat at the begining of this song for HOURS !!!

  • Funny how these lyrics ring just as true now (if not more) then when Jeru wrote um.

  • ILL approach on this track. The way he just made it raw, but yet so smooth....Fucken Jeru, one of the sickest rappers from the east coast.

  • I rate is first album 10/10 this one 9/10

  • 1. GURU

    2. Big L

    3. Rakim

    4. Jeru

    5. RZA

  • @SopotZG2

Ok stop, phenomenal list except the number one spot being Guru. Not even close in my opinion.

  • @pootietangorade

    that's your opinion

for me he was the best lyrist/poet in da game and will be ever ( i don't know english very good, what i'm trying to say is that he had the best stories/lyrics)

  • @SopotZG2 Guru was a really average rapper. He had a decent voice which was the only thing he had going for him. His lyrics were corny for the most part and when he tried to get deep it was embarrassing. Preem made him.

  • @bongzynskywycz

for me pac isn't even in top 100, but for someone he is the best rapper ever.... Guru is the best for me, but for you he isn't even in top 50... that's my opinion and i have right to say that... no hate, it's important that we don't listen to lil wayne :)

  • @SopotZG2 I'm with you on Tupac. He was pretty boring too, I thought.

Here's a good test: if you can DJ, find all the Gang Starr instrumentals you can and run other rappers a capellas over them. (Nas, Rakim, Inspectah Deck, Big L, even some more run of the mill guys). You'll find the tracks sounds way better even than they did with Guru on them. He did his thing on a few tracks on Daily Operation. Beyond that, pretty subpar stuff that won't hold up IMO.

  • @SopotZG2 By the way people always hold Lil' Wayne up as an example of a new jack but people forget he's been in the game a long time. (not that it excuses shitty music now, but....). I remember back in the 90's he was rapping to Manny Fresh beats when he was a young teenager.

  • @bongzynskywycz

it's true, preemo makes any artist sound way better ( take jaz-o ft. immobilaire - 718 for example, jaz-o is ok, but immobilaire have 2 shit verses that sound good because of preemo's awesome beat) and you have tons of tracks like that......

i really like guru's lyrics( just to get a rep and code of the streets have the best stories) but if you want deeper, listen to gravediggaz :)

  • @SopotZG2 Guru isn't even in the top 50 of rappers man.

  • now this is rap. thanx for posting. peace.

  • shit i found it...i used to listen to this in a skate vid i had way back. fucking dope.!!!!

  • The Teacher

  • This CD came out in the Fall of '96.

  • @HybridDragons No way! That's fucking great news to hear. Cool man, thanks for the info.

  • It's good to know that there was a time when rap was actually worth a shit, this was definitely a part of that time.

  • this is one of my favorite premier beats ever (including that intro)

  • DJ PREMIER IS ONE OF THE GREATEST EVER PRODUCER, AND JERU IS ONE OF THE GREATEST MC... TRUE HIP HOP, NOT THE SHIT OF THESE DAYS!

  • wut is dis beat befor da song calld?? I HAV TO KNO...BK hip hop ALL DAYY

  • that beat in the beginning is crazy

  • Awesome song.

  • ill m.c.!!!!

  • "There's a hole in the ozone layer

    I'm dippin' vampires

ya think I give a fuck who's the biggest player"

    Class is in session.

  • jeru is the greatest

  • @TheBassilicum so is premo huh?

  • jeru is fu==king tuff sound .. i saw him at scala .. king cross ... uk absolutey rough .. forgotten soldier ............

  • @siliconchipped He ain't forgotten. Gay ass Guru (R.I.H.) and subsequently his butt buddy Solar just chose to treat him (same as Preemo and Group Home) like he never existed. That doesn't mean Brooklyn or NYC has forgot about him.

  • @BreezelyBruin bitch ass lil biter insulting a dead man and half of gangstarr

    rip guru fuck the haters

  • @PhantomOfFunk Waaaah my gay icon was insulted waaaaahhhh.

  • poisionous tailless .. braaap

  • Can't believe it. There ARE Americans who are able to talk and think deep... and don't automatically equate wealth with greatness and joy.

  • ...when america has beef you jump up and defend it!

Poor Americans who don´t understand the Fuckin´System!

  • Love that Kind o Preemu Cuts Pals! Burnertrack!

  • the concept of the song is insane, incredible

  • it would of been amazing if Jeru was in Gang Starr because him and Premo did collabos all the time together

Jeru should of joined gang starr IMO

  • @ninthwonder23 well he is or was in gangstarr foundation, so could say the were crew i guess

  • @ninthwonder23 Jeru is a part of gangstarr. Just like Group Home, and Big Shug

  • @78donjon gangstarr foundation.... not gangstarr itself

  • @McGinnsey Ok so u mean its similar to how killarmy and sunz of man are part of the wu, but not part of the original 9 members? i understand.

  • jeru the man

  • this is the fucking CUT

remember hearin this shit in 97 or so

  • the whole album is preemo

  • @efectron whats the name of the song at the start?

  • @MovedByWillAlone Its not a song, its the interlude prior to this song on the album. peace.

  • @efectron yea on both albums

  • the greatest lyricist word for word would have to be Gary Grice(GZA). No contest, hes 47 years old and still slaying faggots like 50 on tracks like paper plate etc... nuff said, out~!

  • yea the gza really is a genius but i always thought his flow was dry personally i think inspectah deck and raekwon had much better delivery but it's pure opinionated.

  • @bigT429 You have no clue what you're talkin about, they hot alright but better then Wu? Incase u didnt know, Wu has always set the standard in hip-hop even before all of em were a group, 'member the phrase, Wu Forever.

  • Is this a Premo joint?

  • yes it is!

  • @ClainDoleBoy he did the whole album

  • organized konfusion is probbly the best hip hop group in history..... then monsta island czars kills everything wu-tang cant compare to these 2 hip hop groups

  • Nobody can front on the Wu. I think Gza and Deck can take on Organized konfusion. Monsta island czars, I never heard of them though, so I can't call that one.

  • all three organized konfusion albums were on fire wu-tang was loseing it at the W album

  • Good point, but WU did their thing as a group and solo. Organized Konfusion didn't really do much solo. Pharoah Monch and Prince Po are incredible lyricists, but if it came down to it, my money would be on Gza and Deck.

  • @bigT429 , yeah right the W is a good album! I can honestly say the only bad wu albums are some of the solo ones like tical 0 the prequl, & u-god's 2 albums! & organized konfusion hasn't even made an album since 97!

  • M.I.C. got some true undaground joints!

  • What about big l? probably the best lyricist ever

  • the 8 diagrams was a pice of shit after hereing the album i feel wu fell off

  • This is tight

  • Hands down, best track on this album IMO. Jeru drops waaay too many quotables on this one.

  • true that

  • I rembember first hearing this song near the end of the Thrasher skate video "Skate and Destroy"

  • the sample in the beginning is from a gameboy game whahahaha ehm ducktales yup thats it

  • where can i find the whole beat version?

  • who uses the beat, the one in the beginning?

  • I've never heard anyone use the intro beat before; I think it was just a good ol' Premier composition.

  • preemo

  • the best rap is the underground kind....the truth, the wisdom, the freedom

  • @kaoshacker235 Underground needs to get its mothafuckin act together and unfiy and coup de etat these commercial bishes.

  • @kaoshacker235 55 K views, this isnt really underground

  • @SlingShotEllington45 in a way it is becuse its not commercial . . and dats gud enuf for me bro :)

  • @SlingShotEllington45 its over 10 yrs old, so the 55k is misleading

  • @SlingShotEllington45 Exactly, how many underground artists do you know who have produced music videos? Jeru was popular back in the day, he's just antiquated.

  • @kaoshacker235 Jeru the Damaja is not underground, he's oldschool. Back when he debuted he was actually well known. He isnt changing for shit though, that's what's great about him.

  • It's what's great about him. It's also why he ain't selling any records.

  • @bongzynskywycz bullshit i own all his albums...

  • @ALLMIGHTYWU You and 25 others can't be wrong. Where is Jeru now? Working at a Home Depot somewhere?

  • @bongzynskywycz nah mate jus done agig at manchester.....i dont fink u know much

  • @ALLMIGHTYWU I used to hang with Jeru at D and D back in the day. I'm glad he's still carved out a career for himself. The first album was classic, the second one was aight but nowhere near the first, the rest was run of the mill Fat Beats type stiff underground rap. That dude may do a show here and there but he ain't vital at this point ain't no one checking for Jeru.

  • @bongzynskywycz lmfao are you serious? guru was corny? do you even know what real rap/hiphop is?? guru if anything has become a fucking legend most of his songs are instant classics and still live up to its meaning till this day. beats was on point ryhmes was gifted unlimitied and universal!!! mcs get flipped when they enter my circle..man i can go on n on u need to get ur ears check man

  • @SuperCasperman No, he became a legend because he died, and you say he's a legend because others into underground rap also say he is. Preem made Guru. If you got hip hop you would know that. Picked up Jazzmatazz lately? How about Guru's solo stuff after Gang Starr? The stuff produced by Solar? let me guess...the answer is no. Guru had a few decent rhymes on Daily Operation, he's passable on Hard to Earn. A lot of it (see: Above the Clouds) makes you cringe.

  • @bongzynskywycz Just go listen to Who's the man--Jeru and Dap both sound way better on it, just like almost every rapper on Preem's tracks sound beter than he does. Guru gets props for helping originate underground a certain sound but without Preem he ain't nothin and you know it. He's was a very ordinary rapper, good voice. Stop saying what you think you should say to prove you're into hip hop and actually listen to it.

  • @bongzynskywycz is he gonna be making a new album ?

  • dam this dude could go........... he gots heat

  • Scientifical madness my status is the baddest everytime i bless the apparatus

  • lol nigga wu-tang clan fell off after iron flag now the killa beez still ill

  • Wait for Rae's Only built 4 cuban linx 2

  • not that great

  • i wish all rap would talk this REAL!!!

  • PREMO!!!

  • PREMIER!!!

  • this is the ish

  • wu-tang cant fuck with this nigga

  • ahaaaa i hope your jokin.. jeru's real d0pe tho !

  • have to agree with you on that one.

  • the olny nigga better then this nigga is rakim

  • true

  • im glad theres some people who arent dick rideing faggot who knows whats good meaning lyrics... people it dose not mean what they pass was not good but the future is now and its kinda wack... if yall want to hear some good shit check out the whole monsta island czars click

  • Nah homie. Rakim might be better, but I don't think he is the only one better.

  • i like both beats i just think they shoulda made another song with the first one it was hot

  • tight

  • the 1st beat they played in the first 0:45 i thought was sick...better than the one they switched it up with..still dope though

  • nah

  • i like them both, but i hate when that happens.. i kinda do like the first 45sec. better now that i'm listening again.

  • You can't stop the Prophet! JERU is raw. I got both albums and wrath of the math is the dopest.

  • I like the production of "The Sun Rises in the East" more, it gave me a real haunted feeling. It felt more soul in that one. This album got more polished beats and the quality might be better but I don't like them more then Jeru's debute.

    Its like comparing

The 7th day theory > All eyez on me

Ready to die > Life after death

Daily operation > Moment of truth

    Polished beats but less soul.

Strong hiphop beats but nothing more or less.

  • Reunion of jeru and Premo... Can't go Wrong!!

  • Excellent.

  • Raw, Uncut dopeness

  • ohhhh shitzzznitttiititi!!!!!!!!!!!!JGUfawmyruewi

  • jeru speaks the truth. real hip hop right here.

  • this was the track for a long time when it was out

  • Big tune for me.

Type of guy who people listen to them messages in there.

  • PREMOOOOO!!

  • THE DAMAJA GOO SOOO HARRDDD!!!

  • damn real undagrounnd shit, jeru went hard on this track

  • Does anyone know where to get a link to this? I'd be glad to trade any of my CD's, and I have a massive hip hop collection. Everything from Operation Doomsday to Jazzmatazz.

  • wrath of the math = true classic

  • Loooove that intro beat...

  • jeru got one of the most origonal flows there not much like it its illa tho . PeAcE x

  • one of my fav track from the d original dirty rotten scoundrel

  • Physical Stamina I can't find on YouTube. That is the most DISGUSTING, dirty, head-fuck hip hop tune I've ever heard. Fuck man, that shit is fuckin NASTY. LOVE IT.

  • Scientifical isn't a word....now it is. Classic Primo. wrath of the math is one of the best produced albums.

  • Fuckin type of shit that inspires me

  • the bassline is so sick

  • This crap is AMZAZING. I had not listened to it in a few years [my wrath of the math CD broke] wow Primo just went off for this cat on this album. It's too bad Jeru and Prim had a falling out.

  • jeru status is still the baddest 4 sho
