I truly think that JVR will be worth more than Kane 5-10 years from now. He's going to turn into a super star and we saw a lot of that in the playoffs this year.

If there was one thing I was happy with the Flyers this year, it was seeing how well their younger players started playing towards the end of the year.

I think that JVR has a pretty good chance to be awarded with the calder memorial trophy 09/10. He´s been maturing in these past years, and i think that he´s going to have a good start in the nhl. the only one that i can see matching JVR is Nikita Filatov and Viktor Hedman, i don´t think Little johnny boy is matured enough yet, he´s going to need atleast one more year before he´s putting up some real points, just av Stamkos, took him about half season before he put up some big numbers.

I really wish the Flyers would have been able to select Patrick Kane. They got screwed that year, when they finished dead last in the NHL, only to get the 2nd overall pick. Could you imagine the Flyers having a line of Gagne-Richards-Giroux and Hartnell-Carter-Kane?? The Flyers wouldn't have had to go out and get Briere and Lupul (although I still love Danny as a player). But who knows, in his first two seasons, Kane has posted 72 and 70 points, respectively....along with 21 and 25 goals.

....but, JVR could post similar numbers in his first two full seasons with the Flyers, if he lives up to the hype that came with him on his draft day. I think with JVR, we could be getting a Brendan Shanahan type player...since he's a power forward, and has the potential to be a 40+ goal scorer. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I agree BIGRED, I think they're going to make a push for Victor Hedman, the Swedish defenseman (6'6, 220 lbs). I wouldn't doubt if the Flyers trade JVR, Lupul, and Carle (to the Lightning if they get the second pick) in exchange for their second overall pick. With that, the Flyers can draft Hedman, and get their franchise defenseman, that will take over when Timonen finishes his contract. That also enables the Flyers to sign Coburn, Giroux, Carter, and Gagne when their contracts end.

the only reason people say turris is better is because thay havent seen Van Riemsdyk play NHL hockey yet, while turris is going on his second season. besides, Van Riemsdyk fits in way better with the flyers

I would have to disagree. Look at the elite forwards in the show today:Malkin,Ovechkin,Nash, Thorton. There all big, strong, and can skate, like JVR. Now look at Briere, Drury, Gomez,ect. get pushed around when they are anywhere below the dots on the offensive and defensive ends. What Turris weigh?170?...
