  • @Msricekrispies777 taylor

  • Is this a Monette Trumpet?

  • White boy got SOUL!!!

  • @klaszic lol

  • Pretty cool solo, man. Running out of breath there a little! Haha! DIggin the growling at the end, I love doing that! Haha! It freaks out those who don't know how to do it!

  • you ruffle your tongue like a rolled R in spanish

on the roof of your mouth in front just above your front teeth

  • what articulation do you use to get that sound in the begging?

  • Great ur trumpet sounds soo jazzy its fucking awesome also i love that thing u did in the end ahahah awesome

  • nice playing what kind of trumpet is that and where did you get it from?

  • You sound great man!!! check my trumpet vid on my channel when you get a chance. I would like more views/comments :)

  • I'm laughing at everyone who says his tones bad and that the room is taking his sound away. if you read the video it clearly says its supposed to be dirty. He's playing like that purposely to get that old jazz feel. No nothings get off of youtube thanks.

    Great vid btw :)

  • Know nothings*

  • Yeah Man!!

  • nice

  • Interesting early jazz interpretation of Monk's tune. Good job.

  • sound is bad you need better recording equipemnt/ environment, and you tongue to harshly,

  • @ballsrburning Are you blind? jonbhorn — September 08, 2007 — Jon plays another jazz classic. Blue Monk wit a greasy feel. Pure dirty!

    Idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • get ou t of that room. your "thats a plenty" solo sounded much better wherever that was. i dont think you suck lol but that room was just eating up your sound and left it exposed and harsh. go back to "thats a plenty" studio. you kick much more ass there. lol

  • @headslo jonbhorn — September 08, 2007 — Jon plays another jazz classic. Blue Monk wit a greasy feel. Pure dirty!

    Idiot.

  • @Lchsmb2009 i like your copy and paste skills. too bad your post has no relevance to what i said. Idiot.

  • Sweet song. Nice tone. I hope I'll playing that sweet jazz like that someday.

  • that solo was amazing just try getting a better camara

  • that was cool souinds reallly good

  • Nice! !! !

  • If you've checked any of his other videos, his tone is fine.

And the discription clearly says it's a greasy and dirty. I'm sure he gave it that 'rag time / dirty' tone on purpose ... odviously.

  • @ashnmb1xo it says its supposed to be dirty..its a jazz thing you know

  • @quadrelatera

Tell that to wynton you dumbass.

  • gettigna good tone from a trumpet takes a long time...

  • It also kinda comes naturally, not solely from practice. You can be an awful player and play for years and still have bad tone.

  • very good !!

  • Is that a Martin Comittee?

  • Taylor.

  • you are pretty awesome, but could use some work on tone,

    very good though!

  • Try to keep better time. Many times during solo performances, the player gets involved in their thing so much that they feel they can warp the time a little, but to the listener it doesnt have as maximum a pulse as possible. Otherwise, you are nailing the sound and style.

  • Freaking lulz at the end.

  • your great.

  • Heyy do you play cornet as well? I wanna get trumpet or cornet but not sure which one. I like the sound of the cornet better tho

  • if I were you I would try both and decide from there that way if you end up playing a trumpet you can work on your sound untill you like it

  • Thanks :)

  • @waitwhatareyoudiong jonbhorn — September 08, 2007 — Jon plays another jazz classic. Blue Monk wit a greasy feel. Pure dirty!

    Idiot.

  • That.... was beautifully dirty. :)

  • how do you get that old raspy sound?

  • @mbuggy11 close your jaw.

  • @mbuggy11 the camera.

  • @mbuggy11

I Think that´s the Cheap Trumpet

  • @circusalbireo2008 no dumbass thats a monette the best kind of trumpet so before u trying to criticize someone get your facts straight bitch

  • @mbuggy11 try to imitate helicopeter

  • @mbuggy11 idk i think its the make of the trumpet. nice trumpet tho. its a monnette. i guess u cud buy a mute and make any trumpet sound like that

  • @gayhorseseathaaay Its not a monette.

  • @mbuggy11l: It looks and sounds like he's playing from his throat to get it.

  • like wow stop comment fighting on other peoples videos its freakin annoying and it just makes the guy look bad so seriously stop it

  • Good job on the classic Blue Monk. I am sure Thelonious Monk would dig it!

  • Can someone please tell me how he gets that "growling" sound after each note?

  • lol good question . I tried for many years and then I found the best way was to growl vocally as you play the note.Sort of singing but instead you grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr as the note sounds. Works best in the lower notes.

  • i'm playing a trumpet solo in this song for a festival in a couple days. Sounds really cool!

  • yuck! less suck=practice more.

  • lets see u play the trumpet... ur just an epic fail

  • I don't post videos of myself playing in order to get an ego boost like this tool. I don't need yours or anyone else's approval. This kid needs to get his horn out of the garbage disposal and stop acting like he can play jazz. As for you, know your role and shut your mouth. Let's see YOU play trumpet since you are so confrontational and sure of your abilities to criticize others.

  • ok i dont play the trumpet i play the clarinet and the drums... but at least i can play an instrument

  • Ok, well good job. I play trumpet and I can dominate this guy. He covers a lot of his inabilities with falls and growls. Plus, his tone is deplorable. I would hope someone as musically inclined as you can understand that.

  • then y wont u post ur talent if u got any

  • because I don't seek the approval of a peon like you. Know your role jabroni!!!

  • jabroni? wtf u Jamaican or something? or u just tryin to act like one cuse on the internet, u can be whoever u wanna be

  • What? Jamaican? Like I said, Know your role!!!

  • u said jabroni like wtf does that mean

  • it means you're an idiot! and apparently an even bigger one than I thought because you don't know what it means.

  • Main Entry: jabroni

    Part of Speech: n

Definition: in professional wrestling, a wrestler who loses in order to make another wrestler look good; also called jobber

    Usage: slang

ok u dont know ur definitions

  • Actually I do know my definitions. That is the slang term that The Rock...aka Dwayne Johnson...used throughout his professional wrestling career to talk about the lesser people he dealt with. I said that you're an idiot because you didn't know the term, and an even bigger one than I previously thought before I mentioned the term. Now knowing that you clearly don't know this term, it made you an even bigger idiot. So, know your role JABRONI!!!

  • like wtf stop saying jabroni cuse ur not cool

  • and you think you are? "cuse"? "ur"? You spell them "because" and "you're". Learn how to spell you peon!!! You are clearly the uncool one. Know your role JABRONI!!!

  • ok i use "cuse" and "ur" because im in a hurry and again stop saying jabroni you loser

  • Hey, Jabroni...learn how to spell!! You peon, go nag on someone else who cares!!

  • like wtf you look up words in the thesaurus and you use them on commenting? get a life man and lets just end this now

    pe⋅on1

    noun

    1. (in Spanish America) a farm worker or unskilled laborer; day laborer.

    2. (formerly, esp. in Mexico) a person held in servitude to work off debts or other obligations.

    3. any person of low social status, esp. one who does work regarded as menial or unskilled; drudge.

  • Are yo kidding? I didn't look up anything. You're the one looking up things because you don't know words in the English language. Embarrassing!!!

  • are "yo" kidding? like why wont you proof read your work

  • Please continue humiliating yourself.

  • man you're skilled! Ive been playing trumpet for about 4 years now, but man i like your sound!!!!

  • I liked the sound! MPB See my videos, comment and vote!

  • that was good!! i have been playing the trupet for two years know, i can play rock role row your boat.

  • Hahaha the last part was funny lol

  • purley amazing! lol i admire ur skills..haha im only on my 4th year but im gonna keep playing! i love it!

  • Good job!! I have played trumpet for a little over 6 years now and i really admire your playing...you do have a nice tone and you keep rythem very good also...great playing! keep up the good work!

  • ffs blow into your trumpet...

  • nice. what kind of music do you generally play? do you play for a living?

  • hey dude.. ive seen 2 of your videos, and im wondering what kind of trumpet is the one you have?

  • cool

  • You have really special tone quality in your trumpet sound. Everyone should have a unique tone quality, and you demonstrate that very nicely.

    Well played!

  • Sounds like you need better breath control. Other than that, great! I like your tone and style! Keep it up, no so much breathing, work on it. :D

  • awesome feel for the music. I really like your style

  • I played for 6 years. You keep telling me to go back to my video games. You're making fun of me because I have something that I enjoy to do with my friends? Isn't making music the same thing, or basketball, soccer, etc. the same thing? It's not like I play video games by myself all the time, or play WoW with people around the world. I play video games with my friends around me when I have time away from work or school. If you have a problem with that, I'm sorry, but it's something I enjoy.

  • some constructive criticism

open your throught, lower your jaw, improves tone :)

    add some phraseing?

    good solo

    got the sheet music

  • PLZ POST THE MUSIC FOR THIS I MUST HAVE IT it would be greatly appreciated:)

  • notes just didn't go together the way the greats do. Not that you weren't hitting the notes, just they didn't flow. oh, and try not to take such loud breaths. we always used to get in trouble for that in band.

  • why dont you leave this dude alone. He looks like hes having fun and is really anything else that matters.

    CHILL OUT DUDE!!!!!!

    MOTTER

  • I actually played trombone in elementary and highschool off and on for about 6 years...

  • and your videos are where? Tool

  • I never said I was great. I was simply offering my opinion. Get off your pedestal. there's going to be criticism in every walk, whether you're him or louis armstrong or anyone in between by people less qualified than I am to make critiques. Get over your self. I'm sorry if I didn't word it as constructive, but that's the way I meant it.

  • I never played trumpet. Nor did I say I knew anything about music. Did you even read my last post about criticism?

  • I have said nothing that would make me seem like I'm an asshole.

Please learn to spell by the way. It's you're; a contraction of you are.

  • what kinda trumpet is that?

  • everyone has their own style...

  • That dude had no idea what he was talkin about. This is how good jazz sounds!!!

  • exactly

  • nasty

  • ... realy?

  • Sorry, man, this just didn't cut it in any way. I'm a fellow trumpeter and don't have a lot of chops yet. But I think you were just kinda showing off here. You gotta work on your tone and your attack a lot; don't just go for licks. Practice with the metronome on 2 & 4. You were a little off on your chord changes at times, so you gotta watch that. Keep up the good work!

  • the growl is great. Its a real hard thing to do. Took me 4ever to learn

  • i play the trumpet as well and i like the trumpet but i dont no if its the recording or what but it sounds like your forcing something.i just dsnt sound right.

  • wait, u ment to sound dirty?

    or is that the recording?

    im not insulting u

i just wanna know cuz im gonna try recording myself too

  • did you growl in the first sound which sounds like flutter but not?

  • Great vid!

  • nice!!!!

  • i really like how you play the trumpet according to the mood of the song, which in this case is "in your face" i thought it was awesome man, never stop playing the trumpet!

  • like that song a lot, i recently just played it as a solo at my band concert. now i have a solo in a song called MISTER NICE GUY, check it out somewhere. it's by LArry Neeck

  • gutbucket baby...keep thinking that...raw and nasty. That's how I like it. Nice =.

  • all i can say is, wow

  • How long did it take you to learn to play trumpet?

  • Yeah nice I like it. Love that song, how long you playing? Any band videos?

  • this goes to herald the man; its sopposed to sound like that dumbass!

  • dude what kind of mouthpiece do you use

  • sounds great , really cool, i play blue monk, its on my profile...

  • Awesome man. I play with the same sound when I play this chart. Down and dirty. I dig.

  • yeah It is a taylor. She is about 4 years old. About that other guy. It doesn't bother me at all. People on here just try to boost themself's up by putting others down. Besides, I listened to his clips! OUCH. Talk about horrible! Thanks

  • Forget that other guy, your sound is awesome. Do you play a Taylor Lite?

  • hey don't you play guitar, stop watching videos that don't concern you. You probably don't even know what good quality sound is. Go play guitar hero or something.

  • It doesn't matter if he plays guitar, and to say 'you probably don't even know what good quality sound is/stop watching videos that don't concern you.' is mean and judgmental. I play guitar AND trumpet. A musician is a musician, no matter what they play. You're no better than he is for using negativity, because you did the same.

  • WTF? So you are defending someone who was also criticizing? Your hypocritical for everything you say. Why don't you correct him. Oh and BTW, trumpet and guitar are 2 TOTALLY DIFFERENT THINGS dumb ass. On guitar, you just move your fingers and get the sound that is limited on that guitar. However, trumpet is much harder because you have to play with a correct embouchure and get a good quality of sound with it while move your fingers correspondingly with your mouth.

  • I wasn't being a hypocrite. Because I wasn't being rude and condescending. I don't need to use name calling to prove a point. Use the information you are given and use actual reasoning to your comments. And I never said that trumpet and guitar are the same thing, so stop taking my words out of context and trying to use them against me to make false statements. I knew trumpet and guitar are different, I play both. You don't need to try to explain to me what they are.

  • Do you think guitar makes you not a musician? I know that they both take a huge amount of skill and practice. Trumpet isn't easy, and guitar isn't either. All instruments are musical. Music is music.

And, I wasn't defending him for criticizing. I was defending him as a person. He didn't use name calling as his way of proving a point. I don't agree with his comment, but I don't feel that you should have attacked him the way you did.

  • well theres no such thing as an easy instrument I think. But saying that, guitar is a million thimes easier than any brass. Just my opinion...

  • is easy if you play easy stuff...

play an hendrix song and tellme if the guitar is easy...

maybe the sound of guitar when you start to learn is more "good" but play REALLY good the guitar take years and years..

i play the guitar for 11 years and i know that i need a long long time of practice to be a good player.

  • i play trumpet and guitar. while it is easier to notice when you mess up on trumpet that doesnt necessarily make it a harder instrument. also guitar is only easy if you make it easy.

  • Well personally i'd consider trumpet harder, just for the simple reason that one needs to conjure air and a buzzing noise to play, virus the guitar which is essentially target practice.

  • Nikolas, you are clearly a scrub. The trumpet is a harder instrument than the guitar, an amateur who puts his fingers in the right places can emulate Jimmy Hendrix, you do not have to think about keys when playing a guitar, simply move your fingers up the fretboard, all the patterns are the same. There's a reason, there are very few trumpet virtuosos, and if you want a challenge on guitar, learn to play classical.

  • mm. i was thinking and playing the trumpet and you are right.

is much much muuuuuuuuuuuuuuch harder than guitar.

i start to learning for 2 monts and today i just can do a some notes from 1st octave.

is a very fisical instrument. but is really beautiful

  • I totally agree. Any douchebag can play a guitar. Slash can strum a note and i can strum a note and it will sound exactly the same. But if I play a note on trumpet and Allen Vizzuti plays that same note.. theres no comparison.

  • thank you = D
