Whenever I try to play audio, it comes out as some weird digital mess; so I can't hear a thing. No matter what audio output I select. What should I do?
its awesome - i have tracks dekuxe please be careful not to over compress. the presets give you an idea of the vast sound differences you can get but go easy - this stuff is powerful and very sound changing.
It was nice compatibility with Logic Pro, but with WaveBurner for mastering that have sometime too much distortion. I can't figure out what's behind it.
@pedsay You can import MP3 (though the quality isn't as good as WAV, which you'd typically master) so please contact support to get some help. Thanks!
@SimplisticsalvatioNs Same reason there are so many hardware compressors. Basically they function in a similar fashion but with different results. Some impart different levels of character (shape the sound in ways other than just the dynamics) for example. We accurately model hardware compressors to capture their special characteristics.
@ikmultimedia Looking at this stuff freaks me out ... I want to learn it but I need videos that show the in and outs of mastering comps and Eqs . I could read a book but I learn more from videos . Can you show me to videos that teach about comps & Eqs please .
@skimkid13 ...or you could put these against the competition. Not only do they sound different and have their own characteristics (that's why the real Fairchild is sought after and costs so much for example) but also sound better. There are demos available that can be downloaded so you can try and compare for yourself.
@ikmultimedia i know . i was juss answerin that question about why so many different brands make compressors. i know some end up better than the other one. I dont really master anything tho. not my job haha
I have T-Racks 3 Deluxe and I think its very good. I also have Wave Mercury Bundle which you get these days for under 7.000 dollars, but I go the feeling that T-Racks 3 Deluxe sounds almost similar to the soundquality of Waves Mercury Bundle, which is the reference of the highest mastering soundqualitys when you ask me. Also I tested Ozone and plugins from Sonnox and these two sound not so good like T-Racks. So I would say that T-Racks 3 Deluxe get 95% from me! Nr. 1!
@analyzingfunny To make music? The market there is very small. If it runs in Wine, though, that might work. Techically Receptor runs Linux too. I'm also wondering if that 20 million is even the Linux desktop market? I love Linux on servers, but wouldn't bother on the desktop and not really in pro audio either. Drivers/hardware can be an issue too. Might want to hit Avid up and if they start pioneering getting Linux Pro Tools installs as a huge audio market, others would follow likely
@ikmultimedia oops, 40 million. Curious to know where that figure is from and amongst them how many servers, clients connecting to those servers, desktop, and then within that audio. Unfortunately, we've see that isn't many at all.
@ikmultimedia Well, in case you did not know, Ardour (which totally replaces Pro Fools) runs great. I have a ton of free plugins for effects. One company even offers high quality effects for sale to Linux users. Dont be fooled. Linux is here to stay, and you are just perpetuating the crime that is called Windows. Please stop your criminal activity.
@analyzingfunny We perpetuate no crimes, fully aware of the limited options available in Linux (though that's not to say other OS's don't have limited plugins too - nature of the beast), don't be overdramatic. It is a tiny market, but I'd love to see it grow to be one that is viable to devote development time and money to. Thanks for the laugh over "criminal activity" you are very funny.
@ikmultimedia the "criminal activity" is a common thought, even amongst Windows users. Ill find the comment made about how the crime called Microsoft you are supporting.
@analyzingfunny This is not the place. We've explained why Linux is a market share without enough users to produce our commercial pro audio products. Thanks for your interest though.
Really, and honestly this IS the place. It is people like IKMutimedia who wont release programs for Linux, and that is a crime. Wine still has problems and is hard to use for average users. On the other hand Linux is very easy.
@analyzingfunny The place is somewhere to make it an actual thriving audio market. Go forth and do so, and we will consider commercial products where there is a market for them. Thanks for your input, but not for the silly "crime" thing.
@ikmultimedia Also, find another target - there are many more audio companies out there that can also assert that they too would be happy to create their commercial products for a viable market. Thanks!
I am using T-racks these days just for mastering, and boy let me tell you!!! Go to the presets up top and find "Mastering 1". Process.......and DONE!!! Other than the oddd little tweek (depending on the track) it is perfection. Loud, bright, thick and Juicy. I love this plugin!!!! Personally having gotten better results since I fequented a big studio with Avalon outboard compressors.
this software is amazing quality for the price! well worth it, i use it for all my mastering needs. Using two compressors in a mixdown works great with this, start with the vintage comp but i use the classic comp afterwards for the sidechain. Linear Phase EQ is really good quality and perfect for pin pointing instruments or sounds in the mix! The brickwall limiter is superb and doesnt ruin the mix, 4 different limiter types, satuation and a clip!! really good kit!! well worth the coin!
@BludStatic123 try using the classic compressor and turn up the input drive, use the compare button on the right to switch between the dry and wet signal. i hear huge difference when doing this. the vintage comp is quite subtle but also gives the mix warmth. sometimes compression can sound un-noticeable, but if you know what to listen for then its a piece of cake :)
@Dymond200 I used the input driver but to me it just sounded like turing up the volume and having no punch in it. I also used the attack and release on the compressor and didnt hear a differnce.
@BludStatic123 You are making Hip-Hop yes? I make Trance so maybe you will be hearing it work differently. well bus compression is like turning the volume up on every part of the mix, leveling off peaks and tightening the mix. turning up the input driver will flatten the kick, but lengthening the attack will allow the kick transients to push through.
@Dymond200 Oh ok. I noticed that from doing some mastering practices. Yes i do make hip hop but I dont have any main genre i work on,it varies time to time. If you know who the foo fighters are, I was working on their song "Everlong" and i heard a HUGE HUGE difference for before and after. I'll see if i can post up a vid and show you the difference.
@Dymond200 been trying a new trick . I will select a preset in Cubase then mixdown my mix with Tracks on . It kills me to see that it works ! Now when I get music mastered I will not kid myself if sounds are to loud or to bright
