The current Bishop of Santander, Vincente Zamora, appears to support the women's claims. In an interview with Garabandal International quoted on the blog What Is Garabandal, Zamora says: "There are clear signs that Our Lady is preparing the way for the prophesied events. The roads leading up to Garabandal are being widened. The road from Casio to Garabandal is being surveyed and pegged for widening and upgrading."
The problem I see with many objections on Marian apparition in general is the focus on miracle rather than the message itself which is more important. PRAYER, FASTING, Leading good lives are nothing new. Jesus himself did these. The apostles (except Judas Iscariot) later did these too. Maybe the miracles are necessary for some doubting Thomas.
When one pray and fast, and have faith in Jesus, you won't need these miracles.

I have a house very close to this place. I don´t believe in this apparitions, but I can say for sure that there is something strange in this place. Last time I went there with some friends, a great storm began with strong lightning. I don´t know what it is, but you don´t feel confortable in this place. The town is very old, the houses, several centuries old, have lots of religious signs and messages from the medieval times... I don´t know what it is, but Garabandal has something special.

Update! February 2007 - They have a new bishop (Oviedo) at Santander who knows all about what happened. He probably also knows about the railroading and skulduggery on behalf of regional church authorities at the time against the girls and their families. He has authorized priests to work in Garabandal and he wants the whole thing re-opened, re-evaluated and hopefully approved.
Contrary to what some people have been led to believe, the alleged apparitions of Garabandal have never been condemned by the Church. This is clearly affirmed in the nota of July 8, 1965 of Bishop of Santander Eugenio Beitia Aldazabal, which states: " . . . we have found no grounds for ecclesiastical condemnation either in the doctrine or in the spiritual recommendations that have been divulged in the events and addressed to the Christian faithful . . ."
I beleive Conchita had said at that time Our Lady had said 'one i will not count' . I also wonder what she meant by this? but i beleive in Garabandal .This is a strong warning that has come to fruit already.I'm praying anyway!

Update! February 2007 - They have a new bishop (Oviedo) at Santander who knows all about what happened. He probably also knows about the railroading and skulduggery on behalf of regional church authorities at the time against the girls and their families. He has authorized priests to work in Garabandal and he wants the whole thing re-opened, re-evaluated and hopefully approved.

Contrary to what some people have been led to believe, the alleged apparitions of Garabandal have never been condemned by the Church. This is clearly affirmed in the nota of July 8, 1965 of Bishop of Santander Eugenio Beitia Aldazabal, which states: " . . . we have found no grounds for ecclesiastical condemnation either in the doctrine or in the spiritual recommendations that have been divulged in the events and addressed to the Christian faithful . . ."

I beleive Conchita had said at that time Our Lady had said 'one i will not count' . I also wonder what she meant by this? but i beleive in Garabandal .This is a strong warning that has come to fruit already.I'm praying anyway!
