  • i was channel surfing a few months ago, saw this saw Matt Damon and Robin Williams and thought i'll give it 20 seconds. It was this scene, my hand never went near the remote again apart from to tell me what brilliant film this was.

I love the way he just intelligently ripped the shit out of Matt's character genius then when Matt's character rips the shit out of the NSA classic.

  • What a fantastic movie, I must watch it again.

  • wow he got powned!!

  • is there a different version from this? i saw this on TV and remember at the end he said "times up chief" not that "your move chief".

  • @in2universe He calls Will 'chief' a few times in the movie doesn't he? Perhaps you remember "time's up" from another scene?

  • RObin williams is the American Roberto Benigni

  • Best scene ever

  • the way he talked about women is how all women want to be loved and looked

  • I am a cocky, scared shitless kid.

  • Your move, chief.

  • No wonder Robin Williams won an Academy Award for his performance in this film. This scene alone made him worthy of the Oscar. Truly brilliant.

  • Just because u know of something doesnt mean u experienced it because he's your young and arrogant thats part of wat is being explained here almost like the 2 ppl who disliked the vid they know of this scene, watched it, and couldnt appreciate it for its brilliance and simplicity the level of depth Williams reaches in this one scene needs to be tlked about for many more years his wisdom is something gained from a life of years of love and loss and Damon's character doesnt get it yet brilliant

  • i would love to have robin williams character as a role model

  • This, and his phone confession in "Insomnia" are two of my favourite Robin Williams moments.

  • Absolutely positively brilliant.

  • One of the best monologues I've seen.

  • Great scene.

  • Robin Williams is a fucking great actor

  • Robin Williams is a fucking badass

  • everyone gives matt damon all the credit for writting it but he wrote it with ben affleck... but who gives a shit about him i love matt lol

  • @diditdieify isn't it the Sistine Chapel

  • amaaaazing scene. dont agree with the video description tho ;) wouldnt say his speech is about becoming "more pure". its about perspective. damon's character may know everything ever written in a book but he doesnt have the experience so sean tells him that he doesnt know shit and has no place ripping into people's lives

  • i wish robin would give me this talk

  • robin williams is amazing!!

  • 0 dislikes :)

    hope this didnt jinx it

  • Although I don't care for foul language, I have to admit Mr Williams is an incredible actor.

  • This is one of the best speeches in cinematic history.

  • Wonderful example on the struggle between egotistical knowledge and solemn wisdom.

Life is the journey from one to the other.

  • What really builds this scene up is the very beginning of it, when Matt Damon says an immature sexual joke about the swans, that monologue of Damon's is the clearest of example that yes, he may be a genius, but he's also just a dumb kid. Anf Robin Williams puts him in his place brilliantly.

  • movie speeches don't get much better than this. goosebumps!

  • 0 dislikes.....lets keep it that way

  • how to win an Oscar in 4 minutes and 18 seconds

  • one of the scenes that made him win that prestigious oscar

  • This movie deserved the oscar more than the Titanic IMO

  • *slain*

  • This guy is so much better when he is doing drama. Excellent scene. Stay away from the comedy.

  • @jwdub75 There's something special about seeing a comedian doing drama. It's like seeing Charlie Chaplin take off his make up and mustache. A seriousness, a sobirety automatically come through because you're used to see them smile and being clumsy. The same happens with other comedians: Jim Carrey and Bill Murray for example. In the middle of seriousness they can't help being themselves and make a joke or two. It's probably the closest to life. With a great script you get scenes like this one.

  • My favorite monologue in the entire movie.

  • So deep and powerful....and so truthful....

  • good will hunting - this scene = bad will hunting

  • I think this scene took Robin Williams RIGHT to the Academy Award for Best supporting Actor. He truly deserved that win !

  • one of his finest roles. Good movie too. Brings real truth too what we really know about one another.

  • Truly great screenplay. And a truly great actor.

  • owned it.

  • everyone's complimenting robin williams. yes he is brilliant in this scene. but it's young ben affleck and matt damon who wrote the screenplay, THAT is brilliant

  • this is my single favorite scene of any movie. perfect delivery. robin williams is truly a genuine actor.

  • it's scenes like this that scream "OSCAR on the horizon..."

    Robin Williams FTW

  • amazing genuine, raw acting by Robin Williams!

  • I think funny people are funny out of defense mechanisim, meaning they have alot of pain deep down, and it comes out through humor, but there's those moments where they have to unload their burdens, it has to come out someway, and for robin williams it came out in this scene

  • never seen this movie love the speech tho awesome performance

  • I kind of wish that robin williams would have stuck to this kind of character, it is much more appropriate for him.

  • I think this is one of the most powerful movie speeches in cinematic history.

  • Script.

  • I was waiting for him to handle this like he handled that guy in the bar. lol

  • what an actore robin williams is...no wonder matt became the best actor in the world working with this talent!!!

  • I still tear up. A Masterpiece!

  • Beautiful. Breaks my heart, in all the right ways.

  • first comment!! anyways, great scene!!

  • i looooove this movie

  • love it. all time favourite.

  • I love this scene...Robin Williams pwns him so much.

  • this speech leaves me speechless

  • i like to see this serious side of Robin

  • Gives me the chills. Robin Williams is the man. From stand up comic to this, just brilliant.

  • 1:45-2:45

  • this is so damn good, just brilliant stuff.

  • 3:19

  • brilliant, really. I haven't seen this movie in a long time, but still sometimes I think about this scene.

  • great scene

  • 2:08

  • I love this speech.

  • The movie is Good Will Hunting. Excellent movie.

  • that is an awesome scene. what a movie? Robin williams is superb

  • possibly the best lines ever written for film

  • Checkmate.

    6/5

The truth of life.. experience.. regret... and real love.

    Briliant

  • Robin Williams - brilliant !

  • ...you're terrified of what you might say '

  • This is my favorite part in this movie!!! Robin Williams is an unbelievablly talented actor. It's so true what he says.

  • This movie was great, I saw it tonight and I loved it!!! Plus Matt Damon is sexy in this!!!

  • brb. sobbing.

  • one of my top 3 favs of all time

  • THAT was amazing...

  • sistene chapel is bunk.

A 2 km line to kink your neck up with 1000other dummies.

Go see the Pantheon in Rome instead, and visit Venice in the off season.

  • "... your move, chief."

  • chris, why??

why must you ruin the best monologue ever??

  • wow i did this monologue for yr.10 drama, it pretty much dominates!

  • best speech ever made

  • its such a shame that such a great actor is now stuck in films like RV and license to wed

  • RV was funny

  • haha okay.?

  • this is the scene that earned Robin Williams his Oscar, and deservingly so

  • beautiful scene

  • No offense, but the Sistine Chapel is like a Death Metal concert without the Death Metal. It smells like sweaty people packed into a small chapel like a can of sardines. It's still nice to look at, though...if you don't break yo neck.

  • I agree!

  • my fav scene!!! thnx 4 uploading!!

  • easily the best movie speech ever

  • robin williams is a legend. In this speech he really made me think.

  • @ccosso he read a script

  • @ccosso scriptwriters made you think, robin williams made you feel

  • @mlademamehocekurca

Got a point. My wording wasn't quite right. The script is great, Robin Williams acting it out makes it powerful. Nonetheless, great scene from a very good film!

  • @ccosso i can agree even tho matt damon wrote the script. but it sounds better coming from robin williams

  • @ccosso Probably matt damon who is the genius as he wrote it!

  • one of my favorite speeches, thanks for posting
