The Pacific Ocean Pier sat just north of the Santa Monica and Venice boarder, just a few blocks north of Rose Avenue. You can find some really great pictures of the P.O.P. Pier in Jeffrey Stanton's two books, "The Santa Monica Pier," and "Venice California: Coney Island of the Pacific." Be sure to buy the large sized books. They have the best pics.
OLIVER! was the hot film at the time winning 6 Academy Awards including BEST PICTURE. This is my favorite song from the show and DEFINITELY my favorite of ALL Nancy Sinatra. She's superb here. Really special and the arrangements and orchestrations are wonderful.
I guess Pacific Ocean Park was up for sale. Nancy makes a good saleslady but the place was later abandoned and sat empty for years until being torn down around 1974.
@auclan POPs last harrah was the TV show The Fugitive final episodes filmed there in 1967. Too bad they never got a buyer, I would have liked to go there especially with Nancy!
I can't help but wonder looking at this film numerous times if Nancy was in actuality gloating at the demise of POP? CBS was part owner in the early days of POP and Frank did have a falling out with Columbia records! It was kind of like good ole Nancy was dancing on POP's grave for her Dad in way?!
POP closed in the Fall of 1967. In 68, auctioning of rides and attractions took place. Hard to believe POP only lasted 9 years from the summer (July-58) to the fall of 1967. This great film shows POP looking rather ratty. Especially the Sea Circus attraction and Neptune's Garden entrance. POOR POP!
There is always someone here being critical about the styles from back in the day or the music, etc.. I love this video for the fact it's filmed at Pacific Ocean Park on the border of Venice and Santa Monica California, a place I grew up at and adored. It was demolished in 1975. This park was also featured in the films They Shoot Horses Don't They,The Wild Angels,The Outside Man,Cisco Pike,Dogtown & Z Boys. Also an episode of the Rookies in 1973.
hmm..this isn't the same ( video ) version i remember from the 60's...but it's good!..the album " movin w/ nancy" was great...i played it all the time

Looks like a cheap wig:P and the fake eyelashes - that's what I really hate in the 60's movies. I like the way Nancy sings, I even like her dresses, but you're right about her hair. It's not always good to do what's in fashion...
Come on guys, this is about 40years ago..imagine how people will laugh about todays dancing in let´s say 40 years....and to be honest:they dance pretty cool, like ballett dancin...just put some modern music over the clip and it isn´t that bad anymore ;-) love her!
LMAO its true white men cant dance, think that expression must have come from this dance sequence , I think Nancy sounds FAB tho, she is such a legend , LOVE her
This is classic "Luigi Method" Jazz dancing, and yes, it is David Winters (West Side Story). Does the dancing stand the test of time? not really. Do they look silly, spastic, and fey do the routines? Afraid so. Maybe this is where the term "nancy boy" comes from.
Sorry, setalip68, I couldn't disagree more. The dancing is very much of its period but isn't that why we "of a certain age" are watching this - to have a little nostalgic wallow? 'Fey' is very harsh! In the UK, we had The Young Generation doing similar stuff every week, and lapped it up. The test of time is often unfair anyway. Is the past diminished just because tastes inevitably change with time?
Nancy is as was my girl. loved her then! She did this same song in a show called "Moving with Nancy" filmed at the Ford Mustang plant about the same time.
haha, i love the dancing. Its really a cool thing to be able to watch videos from the 60s and 70s and stuff. It really kinda humbles me to see how the progression of time has changed. When i grow up, i want to make a cover of this song in her version. Its really an amazing video and song
This was filmed at Pacific Ocean Park, just after the place had closed down in 1968. Within a year, none of these rides would be functional, and the place laid in rusty ruin until 1972, when a fire destroyed it. By 1975, the wrecking ball had finished off what was left of the pier, which was located where Ocean Park Blvd. meets the beach.
Yes, that's the correct date. This number is from the NBC-TV special "Movin' with Nancy," originally broadcast in 1967. Episodes of "Get Smart," "The Man From UNCLE," and the final episode of "The Fugitive" were also filmed at P.O.P.
Classic TV production values. Great vocal from Nancy, and the dancing is typical choreography of the 60s, sneakers and all. Very "West Side Story". I have never really heard anyone do this number out of the show. nice choice!
I grew up with this. My folks were swingers.

One of the most underrated albums of the '60's was "Nancy and Lee (Hazelwood)", but she had a presence onstage and still had a talent that lasted.
