So, the crazy notion that our music is supposed to be set apart from the world is kinda stupid. Blues and gospel have been feeding off of each other for decades. So, I think that it's good that Gospel artists want to branch out and try something new to get people in.

Ok, can you tell me why you think that Romans 12:1 and 2 are talking about our outward appearance? Is our MIND outward? No, the renewing of our mind is an INWARD application. The bible really makes it plain as to what value the outward appearance has to God, maybe you need to read that, It's in 1 Samuel 16:7, also john 7:24 JUDGE NOT ACCORDING TO THE APPEARANCE. That is what this man in the clip is doing, judging people for wearing lipstick.
Knowing that God looks at the heart and does not base things on our outward appearance, it is plain to see that where Romans 12 and 1 say present our bodies as a living sacrifice, it is not talking about not wearing lipstick, or what we wear at all. I read that he made a deathbed confession to fathering children out of wedlock. But I guess you'll pretend that this is a lie as well. When our heroes are rumored to have done something wrong, it's human nature to close our eyes and pretend that it's not true, instead of taking the time to view and weigh the evidence. It's like a little kid who plugs his ears and shouts at the top of his lungs in order to avoid hearing the truth. I'm sure some people still think that Tiger Woods is innocent too.

Having been raised in the COGIC from the mid 60s-mid 70s, and becoming a full fledged member in '79, I can accurately say that the term "holiness" meant something totally different back in Bishop Mason's day than it does today."Holiness" meant women not wearing makeup and wearing long dresses, and making sure we didnt go to movies or dance to secular music. People were still committing adultery, fornication, lying and cussing, but took pride that they were different because of how they dressed,

And can I ask you this, what is the difference between Bishop Mason's day and today? I think they had it wrong as to what "holiness" is. Ok, can you tell me why you think that Romans 12:1 and 2 are talking about our outward appearance? Is our MIND outward? No, the renewing of our mind is an INWARD application. The bible really makes it plain as to what value the outward appearance has to God, maybe you need to read that, It's in 1 Samuel 16:7, also john 7:24 JUDGE NOT ACCORDING TO THE APPEARANCE. Knowing that God looks at the heart and does not base things on our outward appearance, it is plain to see that where Romans 12 and 1 say present our bodies as a living sacrifice, it is not talking about not wearing lipstick, or what we wear at all. It's talking about yielding the members of your body as instruments of righteousness and not unrighteousness. like Romans 6:13 declares. and that means not committing adultery, not lusting, not lying, etc. Nothing at all about outward appearances

BruhDawg, you said more in just these two comments of yours than bishop Patterson said in this whole 10 minute clip. And I agree, "true holiness" is all about what comes out of your heart, and how you conduct your life, not what goes on your lips or your body. That's what a lot of the people in bishop Mason's day really didn't get a grasp on, unfortunately.

You keep giving scriptures that have nothing to do with the outward appearance. 1 Peter 3:5, if you bothered to read verses 1-6, you'd see it is talking about women being subject to their husbands, and not being so focused on outward adoring like wearing jewelry. Verse 3,4, "whose adorning LET IT NOT BE THAT OUTWARD ADORNING of plaiting of hair, and WEARING OF GOLD, OR PUTTING ON OF APPAREL, BUT LET IT BE THE HIDDEN MAN OF THE HEART, IN THAT WHICH IS NOT CORRUPTIBLE."

Oldschool, I was just as appalled when Firecogic mentioned the scripture in Timothy. No where is the word lipstick or makeup there. Another thing that the COGIC ignores is that God forbade people to eat pork, shellfish(Lobster, crab, shrimp) and catfish(Fish without scales) in Leviticus 11:1-12. Yet you don't hear the exalted bishops and preachers condemning people for eating it do you? And who eats pork and catfish more than COGIC black folk? The pharisees were notorious for coming down on people for stuff that they themselves were doing in a much worse manner.
