seeing footage of the original Death In June line up is like seeing Joy Division footage you know it's rare and there is very little footage.

Well, make the equation; add some far left to some far right units then multiply it by homosexual repression and divided it by some Zionist and Neonazi American friendships and then you have Death In June; a bunch of fucked up guys making noise, marching nowhere.

I got a joy division vibe immediately lol. Joy division was a nazi reference or so I've read, it referred to forced prostitutes who were organized into units which bore names such as joy division or pleasure battalion etc. It doesn't make one a nazi to call on an experience for its 'scenery'

Maybe unpleasant, though the imagery is merely to provoke and distinguish themselves from the music/art scene. But most important, the music, well some of it, is great. Who cares about third reich flirtation? They are like post-post gay nazi's in the post-war discours. There is no point in pointing at their ideological background for it is irrelevant in the political and cultural reality of today. It is like starting a napoleontic or Hannibalistic war elephant orchestra.

great live track from a inimitable post-everything musical calliope in its earliest (post- CRISIS) incarnation before each went their separate ways. for more sounds like this check out the "bootleg" 'Oh How We Laughed' (live 1982), or 'The Guilty Have No Pride, Burial and Lesson One: Misanthropy. This era of the band features the most incredible synthesis of LEFT meets RIGHT likely ever written into the annals of rock history. That alone is enough.

It just so happens that "Lesson one: Misanthropy" is now available on CD with 3 DVD live tracks too (released 2009). This is a pain, as I have the vinyl from when it came out, but no record player, so I can't listen to the amazing track "State Laughter": it's blinding!

This is the best death in june video I have seen, Not quality-wise of course, but I would love to see more live recordings from this time period. I will probably end up buying the CD+DVD. as well as that Behind The Mask DVD. right now all I have is the Live in Italy 1999 DVD. Please let me know if you're going to post more from this DVD on here. Thanks much for sharing this one.
