  • What is wrong with this guy........

  • Did u think he knew then? He was going to be in one of the best movies of all time

  • #aspergers

  • he's got such a contagious laugh :DDD

  • love crispin!

  • Comment removed

  • Jesus, Crispin is absolutely amazing. He is so completely in control of the interview, and David doesn't even know what is going on, and he has absolutely no interesting being a real person or talking to David normally or helping his career or anything. He's just like, you want me to be on your stupid show, watch this.

  • He's obviously still acting in this one too!

    I'm MAKING my LUNCH!

  • You know, he wasn't close to kicking David--David didn't even flinch.

  • Are we still going over this? He wasn't high, he was ACTING.

  • Oh my god Crispin. I can't

  • i'm in love with him now.

  • I think these interviews are hilarious

  • Crispin may very well be a comedic genius. His props were hilarious.

  • Letterman is a dumb prick. He doesn't have a clue what Glover is doing.

  • He's laughing AT Dave...Dave doesn't get that he's the joke...

  • Man on the Moon

  • Ol' Dave just doesn't realize that Crispin Glover is a Surrealist.

  • i would punch this guy in the face if I were Dave

  • Paula Poundstone looks young here--whatever happened to her anyway?

  • David Letterman is a tool.

  • what a nervous wreck ....

  • i would love to have that volcanic music box, i wonder if he sold it or if it's even for sale.what exactly was the name of the second book he showed to letterman?

  • he was sober both times. acting.

  • The man is a genius

  • And Letterman isn't a tool or an asshole whatever. He is just joking around. it's called Sarcasm and it is something this oversensitive loser generation doesn't understand hence why most of the jokes in todays films are "FUCK YOU MAn, NO FUCK YOU *curses a million times* *HAS SEX WITH HOT CHICK* FUCK YOU DUDE WEED FUCK!" that's fine, but a little harmless sarcasm oh tee hee hoo hoo - no let's get offended.

  • @ThePaperFalcon I'm totally in agreement with you.

  • why is it whenever someone is laughing hysterically people say that the person is on drugs. he could be acting he could be just nervous or he could be really happy. there's nothing wrong with being real. sometimes i wonder what world i'm living in where everyone believes drugs are the cause of everything everybody does.

oh he took a piss in a bush he must be on something. really? cause the only way you'd know is if you've done them. stfu

  • @ThePaperFalcon SOMEONE clearly does drugs...

  • @ThePaperFalcon i love drugs!

  • tripping his balls off. my god. tripping his balls off.

  • Letterman is an insulting, demeaning host. Wow. I used to respect him.

  • @troglodyto Uh, Crispin Glover does a pretty good job doing that all on his own.

  • @dedbusted Not really, I think Letterman just created a hostile environment. Look at Crispin Glover's 2003 interview with Conan... watch?v=qmR6F4g4Gok. Glover comes off as an intelligent gentleman. The deal is that Glover takes some time to say what he has to say, and he stutters a lot. Letterman just doesn't give him a chance. I lost a lot of respect for Letterman from watching the way he treats Crispin in all these interviews. Judgmental prick.

  • Sigh...I miss the talk show format of the 60, 70, and 80's.

  • Comment removed

  • hes so jumpy lol

  • He was on mushrooms in the previous appearance; that's what he had in the "case". He's on LSD this time

  • @Bonsse88 ummmmmmmmmmmm no

  • @unholychunk Hahaha I was totally kidding buddy, but he did have mushrooms in the "case". Thanks for valid input anyway

  • Is she smoking meth?

  • omg wat is he on i want some

  • i almost gasped when he opened up the volcanic garden piece.. i thought of the "bog" set in the "what is it" film. . . fascinating! inspired!

  • He's trippin balls

  • He is merely trying to break that typecast that was beset upon him as Mcfly.

  • Thumbs up if you think THIS interview is weirder.

  • @boxer12350

he scares the shit out of me .

he's like the crazy person you see in the horror movies ..... except its not a movie =O

  • Dave>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>glover

  • @hotbroodish You didn't see Joaquin Phoenix with Dave pretty recently?

  • These "mystery" interviews remind me of what Andy Kaufman used to do. Genius. Great way for promoting something, it draws a lot of attention.

  • hahahahaha!!! crispin's quiet the guy.

  • I wanna know whos gonna pay for this? I spilled beer all over me when that car smashed into me, who's gonna pay for my dry cleaning?

  • What a waste of time. He has nothing interesting to say...nothing like watching a smart alecky, smug, self-absorbed adolescent...zzzzzzz!

  • Thanks!

I knew he came back on and did this, but I haven't found a copy til now.

  • latenight was outrageous back in the 80s-90s... this would never fly today.

  • @HotBroodish Yeah it was, that why I liked watching it. I believe it debuted in 1982 when I was 16 and it wasn't boring and stuffy like I thought Carson was back then... letterman was kinda like saturday night live in a way.

There's no way this would be on today...too bad.

  • 'a couple awkward moments' is a significant understatement.

  • Can he talk? i Hahahahahahahahehehehehehahahaahahahhahhehuahuahauahshau okay i uhh its i i i its uh i its a uh hahahahahehehehahahahheehahahhehahahehahehhahahah well well well well i i i i i its this this this kind of heahahahaha kind of like uh uh there there there it was hahehahahahahehahaeahah

dude wtf is wrong with this guy

  • i Love when he was all giggley in interviews <3

  • OH MAN....dude I bet he was just thinking "what the fuck am i gonna do he's gonna talk about the freak out...I'll just stammer and laugh hysterically. That'll show him."

  • I'm your density .... I mean your Destiny

  • it being an act or not, this guy is a tool.

  • Why did he have this guy back? It's been known for a long time that this guy has a screw loose. He's obviously still off his medication here.

  • What a genius. He verges on Kaufman here.

  • What a genius.

  • this guy had to be on crack

  • Comment removed

  • Is he faking to be stupid? Or is he naturally like that?

Please answer!! I need 2 know!

  • @Milliemissy98 It's an act...a good one. :D

  • Crispin's laugh is cute :] <3

  • Crispin Glover has me utterly nonplussed.

    Does any one understand him?

Don't get me wrong. I find him extraordinarily interesting and entertaining.

Still, why he does what he does has me completely stumped.

He obviously wasn't actually nerves because he's an actor, and could of easily just chose not to act like that.

He must have just wanted to fuck with Lettermen's head or something.

  • This is sorta the same thing Joaquin Pheonix did

  • Drugs?

  • This is so hilarious, I recognised him in Alice...I think Letterman was taken by surprise and didn;t know how to act so he left lol...but some hilarious stuff happening in this video, when they shouted "Nice shoes" the look on his face was so funny, I know he is well known but he should be right out there in orbit and be an absolute star...he is strong too and can even arm wrestle lol...just loved this video, I laughed so hard.

  • @heythanksbutnothanks I just came home from his show in Copenhagen a few hours ago (5am - after being there since 9.30pm - his shows sure run long... pretty cool experience, go see his stuff if you ever get the chance) and there were technical difficulties so he had to keep running back and forth between the stage and his computer to fix his slideshow, and he literally would jump from the floor and up onto a ledge which is where the entrance to the theater is, and then up and directly into..

  • @heythanksbutnothanks ...directly into the projector room upstairs to fiddle with the computer... and then he would jump down again and run to the stage...

He's definitely not someone you want to piss off, I feel. He'd probably knock you out before you ever throw a punch. Madly healthy. He's 46 and he is jumping around like a kid... fucking incredible. why be so healthy? "I could get a demanding part any time and have to be ready" - that's why they're all so fit in hollywood.

  • @hcvang I wish i could see someone like him, but I have little chance as I live in Scotland :), I am glad you had fun wathching him I am sure I would have had great fun too.

  • I think he's more weird this time around

  • HEs FUCKED !!!

  • I wonder why he grows his hair long like that.

  • @loveuforeverapril20 why do you grow your hair he length your hair is?

    because you want to.

  • For a comedian, Letterman lacks a sense of humor.

  • crispin has been a psycho from birth but yet cool at the same time

  • What A SPAZZ!!

  • Crispin Glover was such a nerd but kinda cute anyway.

  • I love his laugh XD

  • There's absolutely no need for David to be such a DICK to Crispin about this! Yes, he may be an eccentric person and the stress of TV interviews probably bring that nervous quality of his personality out even more. Bringing him on to television to publicly chastise, make fun of, interrogate, and humiliate him is just LOW and a disgusting thing for Letterman to do. As though he somehow has the right to treat this man as a child he can tower over. Asshole.

  • @EmeliaGraceH Haha. Shut up. This is all an act.

  • why was he doing a character from rivers edge?! this guy that he is supposdley doing isnt a character in that movie tho 0,O

  • Is he on drugs? What's the deal with this goofball?

  • @pdchr He needs drugs... this type of wacko is why Thorazine was invented . Sadly, regardless of the facts behind his bizarre behavior, staged or not, he's out of his fucking mind.

  • @pdchr HE'S ACTING, HE'S AN ACTOR

  • @Scumbagization Seriously? Is that all an act? It seems to me it wouldn't "help" his career.... If he is going to act... why act like a threatening lunitic? Why not be funny? Or all "Charlie Sheen"?

  • looks like young OZZY

  • His objects look like the mistreated toys in Toy Story...

  • The man is a genius. Whoever can't see this is an idiot.

  • Exaggerating his nervousness?

  • well uh hehe...ahhhh...heh heh...ummmm...hehe...uh...hehe

  • he should have played the Joker

  • I LOVE crispin! he is so dorkishly cute lol

  • MAN i love crispin glover.

  • Sad, very sad.....;(

  • @felixlinquist what is?

  • acid???

  • Did anyone else hear Letterman mutter S.O.B. at 2:16?

  • @crazydave2005 he said, im just teasing.

  • I want to explain this:

Glover did his first appearance on Letterman in character as Rubin to promote the release of Rubin and Ed. In this interview and the one following it he uses delaying tactics to waste the interview time, to avoid explaining his behavior in the first interview -to keep it a mystery. He uses the uncomfortable awkwardness in this one, and in the following one launches into a long and unrelated story.

Letterman didn't know. Now you know. Okay? Okay.

  • @emzilyyyyyy It was more than just promoting a movie. He's a mysterious guy, better that us little youtubers don't pretend to understand things we don't.

  • @emzilyyyyyy it reminds me of the Joaquin Phoenix interview, its sort of like polar opposite, though. Joaquin being so sedate and Crispin being super hyper and weird. poor Dave. Kaufman and Jerry Lawler, Crispin Glover, and Joaquin Phoenix, he's a good sport.

  • @emzilyyyyyy hee haw hee haw hee haw A B C D E F G, gummi bears are chasing me, one is red, one blue, the other one has got my shoe, now im running for my life, because the cute one has a knife. i am so much deliberate more on the tactics of usage for this type of crispin glover video. now i am understands if of, becuase before i's like whaaaa? and its now so much for true. thanks of this for me and whole time. world says yay

  • That's awesome. Crispin Glover is fucking amazing.

  • @emzilyyyyyy how do YOU know?

  • Why didn't I think of that excuse as a kid: "Look Mom, it's this kind of thing, you know. It's self-explanatory kind of, I mean uh, there it is." He's like Emo Philips without the punch-line.

  • Letterman is an idiot.

  • oh my god hes so awkward

  • No, he is a real nutcase. watch sundance films and find out why.

  • @wizface say nutcase with reverence. i so LOVE him. :) i'd give

anything to be his next door neighbor.

  • that was really hard to watch!

  • The first Dax flame :S

  • if this is really an act then whats the point he's trying to make???

  • River's Edge was a good film... it scared me.

  • Finally someone can take that arrogant smile off Lettermans face. Crispin Glover is acting and Letterman dont get that. Fucking hilarious!

  • If you look at the 1990 Letterman and his interview about it much later, as he says, 20 years later (all on YouTube), you can gather there's a doppelganger supposedly he arranged to fill in for him because of another show booking, it could be done given the extent of look alikes and impersonators, you know

  • Oh my god...I'm surprised that he didn't pass out from hyperventilation. Jesus this dude was high out of his mind.

  • Is it just me, or is he even more high in this one than the first interview?

  • Don't Do Drugs. But do them when you're going on a talk show.

  • He's a happy, harmless soul. He doesn't give a fuck! Crispin is great : D

  • omg take a deep breath

  • I think it's genius how he plays carachters on the show. First he comes on playing this neurotic guy, then a couple weeks later he comes on as a regular happy-crazy guy and then 3 years later playing a "normal" guy, denying everything.

  • Another J.Phoenix moment.

  • @tristanv1 Except about thirty years earlier...

  • it's cool that river's edge was mentioned....i love that movie

  • @timninerell Got it on DVD, awesome, yes! RIP Hopper

  • oh my god..what an annoying interview..i would have love to slap him....

  • MANIAC

  • kids, DON'T DO DRUGS

  • haha musical volcano LOL

  • Glover isn't intentionally a dick, its just that he's doing the weirdness for himself, and Dave is merely along for the ride.... Wait.. okay yeah, that is kinda dick-ish, but damn was it funny.. =)

  • Glover seems to think he is above everyone just look at the BTTF 2 ordeal where he wanted paying the same as J fox. God he is a dick.

  • Crispin is laughing at Letterman the whole time.

  • What a fucking weirdo???

  • Stooooonnneeddd.

  • I WANT THAT MUSIC BOX

  • if this whole thing had happened on conan, it would have been the funniest thing ever. but this is just awkward, because letterman's a dick and not playing along.

  • @GustafGouda No, that's not the case. Letterman invented the anti-talk show. Whereas this crap would be edited out of talk shows before Letterman, he left that stuff in. He's also always enjoyed painful awkwardness.

  • I LOVE HIM , hahahaha

    crispin glover is beast!

  • i believe it's just a big show crispin is pulling. and he does great! :D

  • It wasn't Crispin Glover, it was Danny Glover. His kick is a lethal weapon.

  • LMAO "Inside there is a musical volcano; it plays 'I Want To Hold Your Hand' because her hand was boiled over by the lava!"

This guy is so eccentric he makes eccentric people look boring.

  • y does everyone hate letterman,i think hes the best talkshow host he has the best bands play there.and look at him hes wearing addidas how cool is that lol

  • wow, glover looks like cloris leachman.

why do people believe he's a genius? haven't seen anything in his long and illustrious oeuvre that would be indicative of genius (possibly an idiot savant). he seems rather contrived and desperate to seem edgy. for a great fucked-up letterman interview check out letterman vs oliver reed.

  • I wonder if Crispin was on drugs.

  • Glover comes back in 1990 and plays a clip of his video Clowny, clown, clown. If watched in its entirety it is apparent that Letterman is the clown, and Crispin was presenting his Mr farr character in the first interview. Great to see Letterman 'clowning' Crispin in the interview, while truely being outwitted.

  • Volcano music box? +10 awesome points.

  • I love Crispin, and I'm sure he is a smart guy,but he sgould of laid off the drugs if he knew he was gonna be on T.V. Wasn't promoting him self too well

  • A battle of wits . . . . Crispin is so much smarter than David. Why does Crispin even need to explain anything? I guess most people are stupid or that is just what Letterman assumes. That's why Letterman needed him back on the show. And you know what they say about assuming. Yeah, or should I say, Crispin just made an a-- out of him. Again . . . .

  • It would be my biggest peasure to punch that piece of shit Letterman in his freaking face with cameras rolling and all the people watching as his rotten body hits the ground!

  • if you want to punch that guy in the face, it's probably beacause he's a great actor

  • He was IN CHARACTER as Rubin from a movie which was unreleased at the time and nobody understood what he was doing. Then he was just messing with Letterman for his second interview and was avoiding to tell him what he was doing.

  • @jdt917 Crispin hasn't confirmed that with anyone, and he said himself he'd rather leave what happened on these appearances a 'mystery.'

  • why do you never see this on tv these days? makes me depressed, wish I could have been around back then

  • @JadeBadClips

Too be honest, I think this kind of stuff still happens in theese days.

Take a look at joaquin phoenix on Letterman from last year (remember?)

    Don't be depressed! :-)

  • @Frankholmquist I know, but I mean now it's such a big deal. Just remember how much people were making fun of it and talking about it in the media, that's what happens when you do something unusual these days, but sure it could still happend ;-)

  • You're all crazy if you dont think Crispin Clover and Letterman are both in on this together. It's the same thing as Letterman and Andy Kaufman. The real dumby is YOU the audience.

  • @mws755 Yeah, the earlier appearance was him in-character as Rubin, but Rubin and Ed wasn't released yet.
