I love this laptop ,I just bought myself one the other day and its great. I have a core i3 with nvidia 310m geforce 4gb ram ddr3. I play halo on it and the graphics are just like the xbox 360 graphics..GREAT! I also do a lot of programming which requires a lot of processing power and the cpu works great for that also!

My Acer just broke for the 3rd time because of a hardware problem so i now have store credit in Comet of 730 pounds and the Sony CW is 699 so i think i will get this but does it run Windows 7 smooth and fast, does it overheat easy, is the screen quality good, do the keys light up, can i download allot of torrents and watch them on this. Please someone answer all my questions and add any positive or negative things about this laptop. This is the model they have in stock SONY VPCCW1Z4E. thank's

Is the fan loud on the CW i3 processor?

The updated version comes with core i3 and better gpu geforce gt330m ..should be able to handle most games on low-moderate settings.

I'm deciding between this, the new mbp(if it ever comes out!!), alienware m11x and asus ul50.hmmm

alienware m11x has a very weak cpu and is still very think for a 11" imo it's a weird machine that doesn't fit the needs of many.

the asus ul50 is a very good machine but it's bigger.

The CW will be cheaper and faster than any macbook pro refresh if you add the i7 (or i5-540) but the build quality is cheaper.. Still it's a bit smaller than the 15" mbp and you get same or better specs.. I doubt the 13" mbp will get up to the i5-540 and a gt330m.

its definetly better avlue for money..i saw one in real life in a store esterday..didn't luk as gud as the fotos..fingerprint magnet as well. sadly the new specs aren't out yet (corei5 and gt330m), even on the sony site (pre-order without estimated date).

So not an option at the moment

Remember where you order... In canada you can't get the gt330m nor the 1600x900 resolution, but you can get the i7 cpu.

In the US you can get the i5 and gt330m

NO, I don't recommend it, I have it for just 1 MONTH, and the LEFT internal SPEAKER is already DEAD!!!! The sound produced from the right speaker is low, so I can use it only with headphones or external speakers.

IMPORTANT QUESTION - PLEASE ANSWER. - have you had any problems with the fan since you bought it, does it kick it excessivelly or make funny noises ?

Because the previous model Vaio CS had massive problems with a faulty, and frequent fan, its the main reason why the CW model was introduced.

I just purchased the sony vaio CW laptop, the VPCCW17FX. At first I thought the fan ran a little loud, but there was a bios update to help the performance of the fan. After using the update I can now hardly ever hear the fan, yet the laptop is always cool.

sony took away the cs series and replaced it with this new cw series, i liked the cs series better, they took away the touch controls on the cw series, i don't mind that it's not glossy though, i'm not a fan of glossy products, scratch to easily

I'm a sucker from attractive tech and the only thing that puts me off this laptop is its bizarre styling. Im leaning towards white at the moment becuse it has the illusion of being slimmer but i love the colour red.. just not sure i love red layed over a hunk of cheap looking (?) black plastic.

Is the top of the case like a glossy white or is it metallic or pearl? I couldn't really tell cause the cam was a bit blurry.
