I don't understand how those who love the Silent Hill series can love the movie. IMO it was terrible. I read stuff about it and the director said something along these lines, 'We didn't add on to the building, we just made one right next to it.' The movie was a huge disappointment and so was homecoming. I don't play the game for a challenge. I play the game for the creeps and good story. Why change something that is already good?

i think i figured out what silent hill is supposed to be from playing every game and seeing the movie.

Its hell....

in the games you are always LOOKING FOR SOMETHING.

You know like a ghost would. and your condemned to it, and have to find it and in the end you do, but it just restarts, its like eternal punishment. And if you (blah blah blah) the pyramids heads kill you cuz they judge you, and wow its weird i cant put it in words, but to sum it up its virtually hell.

I don't really see it as hell. My perception of it as an embodiment of your own individual being. Everything seen in Silent Hill is something from your mind, all created by who you are. So the way I see it is just a place where your true inner emotions are finally able to be expressed, through physical and metaphorical manifestations. But I guess in a way, it is a hell. Your own personal "hell".

Well yeah that's not what I said. You don't come up with everything you see in SH. The town manifests the creatures based off of your inner emotions and thoughts. You see this is SH 2 mainly(the game where PH is originally from). The character James had feelings of guilt and an unconscious need to be punished(if you haven't played the game I won't spoil why). And so from those emotions, PH was manifested, just like the mannequins, nurses, and all the other creatures you see in that game.

In the games, all the creatures you see in SH are a symbolic reflection of the characters. However, this doesn't apply to the movie. They basically just ripped the plot of the first SH game, messed it up, and then added in random monsters from the games. These are the main reasons why the game fans dislike the movie so much.

But anyways, yeah, hope that answered your question. And besides, someone had to have thought up Pyramid Head, otherwise he would never have been created :P

Everyone else who was there was dead too. They all died in the fire that Sean Bean's character researched in the living world. In the movie, you only got to the alternate silent hill if you were dead.

horrible? i think this movie was pretty good. To rate this movie you have to think in a couple of things. 1º This movie is a commertial movie, not only for fans (i'm a huge fan of SH) and it has to recover the money spended on the movie so it need to like everyone, f you do somethin too complex people will don't go to the theater. 2º It has a shallow layer, a conventional horror movie layer, but beneath it, th movie has all the symbols of SH...so, it wasn't that horrible, don't you think?

When ur dealing with art/movies the prize usually goes to the one who's willing to take a risk and do smt different. this is more of a revenge storyline than an actual horror storyline. a girl who is innocently accused of being a demon is brutally tortured by some people and gets a chance to put vengeance on them and takes it.

The SH games succeeded in the complexity of the characters' psychology, however the creators of the movie completely omitted this. Instead, they tried making the movie into something it wasn't: a horror movie with the Silent Hill 1 plot.
