A few car accidents has to eat up some energy too. Emergency vehicles, tow trucks, hospital time and so on. But, I guess some people have the feeling that you have to go green even if it kills you.
Is it just me or am I alone in my opinion? Were the past engineers and creators and freethinkers of the world more advanced and generally smarter then they are today? Take cars for instance 1950's cars had timming and carborators that required mathmatical computations to be figured out to exact measure. Now computers do all the thinking.
What we need to do is follow the Dutch (and New Zealand) system of using roundabouts instead of traffic lights at crossroads. At first drivers will turn red, but it forces them to pay attention to the road (less accidents) and no waste on LED or light bulb B.S.

These "Green" lights are doing a good job at making the pavement "Red".

Shows that this "green" thing is a waste of time, and can and will cost lives.

Interesting...makes you realize you can't go green on everything, at least not until they solve the problem of snow build up on the lights.
