This sounds weird in Japanese. Particularly compared to something like Tom & Jerry and The Powerpuff Girls which felt a lot more natural. The maturity of the voices I was definitely not expecting. That might be how they do foreign cartoons nowadays to appeal to a certain subset of Japanese people.
Anyway, this comes off as odd, I think, in a Japanese mindset.
