  • Please fill me in on the model # and spec.s of this Hacker Motor. I recently bought the Dick Barron 1/4 scale Curtiss Goshawk plans and want to model Len Povey's airplane. Thanks for all you do, Vultee.

  • @whizbang47 The motor is a Hacker H-200/8. On 14S 13.5AH LIPO's it gave about 5 minutes of flying with about 24% capacity remaining when checked after landing.

  • @vultee35 Thanks for the details. 13.5 AH LiPos? Sounds great but I've never seen any. A guy below says this battery costs $500. Well check out the price of a Seidel 9-90 (which would be conspicuously undersized in diameter.) I had thought about a ZDZ 80, but there are many design hassles and vibration like no tomorrow. The Hacker probably isn't cheap, but it doesn't shake. Thanks again, Vultee.

  • @whizbang47 If you look closely at the video, you can see two huge blue blocks; that is the Lipos!! and they aren't cheap!

  • Fckin huge...

Anyway it's better to stick with a gasoline engine, that battery cost 500$ or more, it's cheaper to buy a gasoline version...

  • Ack! That thing is huge! :) Really impressive

  • yh, very powerful :) i bet your gonna stun everyone when you get the spitfire done, it makes sense not to have an engine running when ur planning for the merlin sounds doesn't it?, and in todays world i suppose it is more environmentally friendly, but i dread to think how much electricity you draw when charging the lipos up? LOL, all the best with the spit, maybe see it entered in the nationals later on this year.

  • The aircraft belongs to Ali Machinchy, so you never know, you may see it at some of the model shows.

  • Is it the A 150 or 200 hacker motor?

  • I think it's the 200.

  • ...and an 8 wind. Originally we were sold a 6 wind, but that didn't have the torque, so they exchanged it for the 8 wind.

  • must be pretty expensive engine

  • Several hundred pounds worth of motor!! plus you don't want to know the cost of two sets of the 13.5AH Lipo batteries.
