I've come from a similar background, played clarinet, then alto sax.

getting into guitar was one of the best things i've done! I dont know what it is about guitar, but I havent been able to put it down and I've been practicing at least 2 hours at a time sometimes up to 6 or 7 for about 5 days a week. Its just that fun!

We'd rather just enjoy playing it, and other players' play too.

I'm so glad you said that so I wouldn't have to. That whole "acoustic/electric" argument is so old and amateurish. Each instrument has it's own merits and complexities that are only realized and brought to form by it's player. I also agree with you on tabs. No one seems willing to train their ear anymore. Too much reliance on tabs. But what do I know... I'm just a bassist. :p

i started out on acustic and then moved to electric and electric was much harder because you have to mute and you can hear notes that werent played by you if you dont because any small vibration of the string will make its way to the amp
