Communism is impossible to implement- it is based on erroneous assumptions and cannot opporate in reality. It cannot exist.
It is, however, usefull for dictators impotent in productive work, who want a good way to convince people to sacrifice and give them power.
We should implement the free society our founders envisioned, based on reason- on the nature of human interaction, and on reality. There doesn't have to be a sacrifice- mutual trade to mutual benefit is the rational interaction.
Individualism (for people AND corporations) = freedom?
Flat tax = equal tax % for all = fair?
Think about those question marks. Do not debate about big words with empty meaning, look at what Individualism and Liberalism ment for the Bush administration and see how it affected your country.
Collectivism belongs on the left. That's why a black collectivist, a hispanic collectivist, a white collectivist are ON THE LEFT. If you identify with a group you are a left winger. The more you move toward the right you care more about yourself and thus care more about individualism and every other individual.
Far Left - identifying with a group and only caring about that group.
Far Right - identifying as individual completely segregated from your own group and not giving a fuck about them.
Liberalism does not believe in the freedom to keep what you have earned or freedom from government intervention. But it certainly does advocate freedom from reality, thought and using other human beings as a means to an end either though exploitation or threats of death and imprisoment for wealth they never worked for. I'll give it to you, the conservatives are idiots, but the liberals a fucking insane. I mean, at least you can educate a dumb guy. Can't say much to George Orwell's "Middle."
Wow, that dude completely butchers the definitions of liberalism and conservatism. Liberalism is the ideology focused on equality and liberty (the term comes from the latin word "liberalis" which means "of freedom.")
How are Nazi's right wing? Uh, maybe because they were nationalists and fascists?
"equality and liberty": If you mean equality of opportunity, equal protection from force or fraud, equal treatment before the law, ok. But equality of outcome?Nope.
"Liberalism" in the Enlightenment was #1, not #2.
Nationalism is collectivism, the individual serves the State. How does that differ from Soviet collectivism, other than in slogans?
"Fascism" -a term coined by Mussolini. Socialism Lite. The State controls all economic activity, but allows a business to keep its name.
Since when is being against forced occupation and the illegal formation of a nation anti-Semitic?
These two speak in absolutes of you are with us or against us. They label themselves as free-thinking individuals when they are spreading Statist ideology of coercion.
What country are you talking about when you say illegal? Sounds to me like you're referring to the United States or Australia...or Ireland...or Italy...or Egypt, Japan, Poland, Russia, Mexico, Brazil, Haiti, and about 200 other countries that started via forced occupation and "illegal formation". Dunce.
Outside of you calling me a dunce, you haven't really offered any intelligible dispute of what I said.
Whatever Stalinist Russia or Nazi Germany claimed to be was not what they were in reality. Both were authoritarian dictatorships and WERE NOT communist. Communism implies rule by the actual people. If it is short changed it is not communism.
Now please give me an intelligent response that doesn't resort to ad hom attacks.
trehansen...can you read or is your mommy typing these uneducated, ill-informed, weakly debate topics up for you? If she is, tell her to read a book...actually any book will do, there are over 20,000 History books in print for use in American Universities alone...not to mention the Black Book of Communism, or Inside the Third Reich or any of a dozen other books that detail the connection between Russian communists and National Socialists...Dunce.
You really have a big chip on your shoulder don't you. Please educate me as to shared ideologies between the two. I am not talking of the way in which they were implemented either. Stalinist Russia is not Marxist communism. The proletariat that Marx proposed was supposed to be a temporary transition from the current government to a communist society. Stalin had no plan on letting his dictatorship be temporary. He wanted absolute rule.
These two are amazingly retarded. The left-right phenomenon is only discussed within this country. Amongst educated groups they discuss ideological differences. Trying to label ideologies with the "right" and "left" references too easily simplifies and does injustice to these complex philosophies.
Wow, if we listen to what a government calls themselves, then North Korea is a democracy...
Reality: these two talking heads do not know what they are talking about. Go learn something about political science before you go on TV and say shit like this...
go to the castro -- lots of left wing skinheads. of course they will be more interested in what your butt looks like in chaps than what color your skin is.
In American history, the notion of racial superiority was espoused through the inhuman, anti-capitalist practice of forced labor and defended by people claiming they had a right to sovereignty from a centralized government. You had the champions of "states rights" propping up a cost free-production system that was blatantly discriminatory. I believe that true Utopian individualism would discourage racism but, history has not conformed to Objectivist idealism and it never will.
Mr. Binswanger didn't articulate his point very well, but what he meant to say was that the American Left, moreso than the American Right, doesn't respect individual rights. Neither do, but the left doesn't more - at least right now.
He shouldn't have bought into the whole Left-Right paradigm in the first place. Its just an invention of 20th c. radicals, fighting over how best to violate individual rights.
His overarching point is that any type of collectivism is bad - not just racist
No, I mean like establishing rules or laws based upon the idea that individuals should be judged by anything other than their actions.
Leftists have theirs - affirmative action, multiculturalism, welfare (because poor people are just "less fortunate") - and Von Hess or whatever his name is has his own version of collectivism: white supremacy
All are irrational, and all stem from the Leftist idea that human progress "takes a village."
I'm not so sure that the Left can be described as caring less about individual rights. Last time I checked, the ACLU was considered Left. The Left fights for our individual rights to privacy, health care, justice, due process, etc.
I don't see the Right as fighting for any individual rights. Can you name some other than the right to low taxes and the right to tell other people how to run their lives?
Health care isnt a right. You and I probably have very different ideas about what "justice" and "due process" mean. Personal privacy is a legitimate right - that's about all the Left stands for that's good.
The Right, otoh, more consistently respects the right to produce wealth in one's way, and to keep that wealth. They also support gun rights and the Left doesn't.
Neither side is consistent - and that's Binswangers point. Righ or Left, Von Brunn opposes individual rights consistently
We can argue all day long about whether he's right or left, but ultimately the two are the same. That's in the wider historical context of the terms.
In the more specifiic, American context - the context Binswanger was speaking in - the term "Right wing" has more consistently meant individual rights whereas "Left wing" has meant collectivism/tribalism/socialism/big government.
So when he says that racists are leftists, he means that they're opposed to individual rights just like a liberal
"Mr. Binswanger didn't articulate his point very well..." is an UNDERSTATEMENT. This is more accurate: "He is lying sack of vomit who spins a dog sh%t and turns into a Hershey's kisses.
Right/left is valid if meant as pro-coercion/pro-freedom.
They are invalid if what is meant is communist/faschist.
As the interviewee said, the common denominator between those two is collectivism.
You know, folks who disagree with that the interviewee is saying--there are better ways to communicate than using rude words. I follow the same ideology as him and I'd be happy to dismember any well-articulated argument. Presumably you can spew things other than refuse from your mouths.
I can spew a lot of things from my mouth, including the truth. Racism is nothing but honesty about race portrayed as something bad. Honesty about the differences between the races is not "collectivism" any more than the choice to ignore those differences is "individualism."
Its amazing how much credence this objectivist bullshit is given in the US. Ive been reading Atlas Shrugged for research and it has to be one of the worst books ive ever read.
Everything that comes out of this guys mouth is moronic. Typical Ayn Randian libertarian history-trough-the-looking-glass drank the kool-aid 'call the guys in white coats' nut job.
OMG!!!! I have not seen Beck in like 3 weeks. And as soon as I see him, participating in this asinine conversation, reminds me how much I hate this guy.
Does this guy really believe Van Brunn is a Dem? Really? & the sad part about it is that the people that watch Fox Noise believe him! This guy is a quack!
If it's wrong, you have moral obligation to yourself and society to say something about it, whether the wrong doers are your friends or not. The KKK is not a leftist organization. If the clown is going to spin shit he should know what the fuck he's talking about.
Proof James Van Brunnwas a rightwinger AND A FREEPER AS WELL.
James Van Brunn was a frequent poster on the far-rightwing hate site Free Republic.
His postings were well accepted by the Freepers.
His hateful screed Obama is Missing is signed by him, IN HIS FULL NAME, James W. von Brunn, on December 02, 2008 It is still up on that site check it out before its removed.
His Free Republic nick was wannabegeek read his other rightwing hate posts.
Good find, and clearly there were plenty of whackjobs there with him from some of the postings on that site.
He was/is your garden variety NeoNutjob! His writings are crazy filled with theoretical suggestions, anti-democratic rants, anti-obama rants, and fear mongering.
And yet poster "aeuiono" has posted here several times claiming he was an Activist Lefty"... trying to make him seem like a Liberal... such bull...
He was/is a militant Rightwinger, a Holocaust denier, and an Obama birth certificate denier, and in his rants he's supportive of Bush/Cheney, He is only critical of Bush in that he wanted Bush to be as militant as he is.
No doubt Von Brunn is a domestic terrorist far rightwing nut.
Michael Savage is so extremely right-wing, he has been banned from entering the United Kingdom. The left hates Savage, calling him a right-wing extremist.
Michael Savage is Jewish.
But the Left will use its go-to line about race-traitors probably.
Ask Jesse Jackson to find "Hymietown" on a map. Ask Jeremiah Wright about "them Jews" Obama has to appease.
Liberals don't like Israel because they don't want any racial bias AT ALL. Although, this never makes sense to me, where are they supposed to go? Especially since antisemitism is on the rise lately.
Whatever...I'll just get a nasty annoying reply anyway lol. Go ahead.
What a ridiculous argument- I completely agree with you- there's a fine line between the extreme right and the extreme left- the answer lays in the middle.
I almost expected the guy to say that "Love is hate" and that whole spiel from 1984. I don't understand how these guys always talk about personal responsibility and yet when ever one of their own screws up they always blame someone else, whether it's liberals, blacks, gays, or whatever ever group they hate. It's disgusting.
What an idiot, hes equating pro-palestinan to anti semetism. I dont care how you define it, but the Von guy was definitely an ultra rightwinger. He probably believed the republicans werent conservative enough.
The left is collectivistic and statist, rightists , true rightists, are individualistic and capitalists. Racism is just a primitive form of collectivism.
LOL oh yeah the Nazis were leftists. That's why they hated the communists. And just because they had the word "socialist" in their name means nothing. How many modern modern counties with "democratic" or "republic" in their names are actually dictatorships? Typical disingenuous word games from Fox News.
The Iraq war was planned long before 911 in conjunction with the Israeli government.
So your right i shouldnt say to "appease the Israelis" because it was specifically to "appease the Israeli government"
Israels government is a very militant hard line minority group, they dont represent the majority jews in Israel, even the orthodox jews dislike Israels government.
(look it up)
Right now "Israels government" would like nothing more than to attack Iran pre-emtively.
Most Israeli "people"want peace yet their government is more gun-ho for war, not a good situation when a government is not really interested in the wishes of its own people.
Yet thats what you get when you let hard liners run the government.
Peace is not the opposite of war. War is systematic killing for political outcomes including reductions of violence, and gains in prosperity. Peace does not exist because of international anarchy, human nature, and unequal resources. Survival is a universal right. Israel deserves to protect itself.
I think the Iraq War was planned before 9/11, but so what? We were attacked before 9/11, and Iraqis lived under terror before 9/11 too.
Its amazing isnt it? The insanity that exsist in the far right wingers (the neocon)... they blame everyone else but themselves for the monsters they create!
Im pretty well convinced that the Repub party has been abandoned of any and all sensible intelligent people and what is left in there is just the sludge you scrape at the bottom of the barrel.
Buncha whackos preaching insanity and misinformation to their choir of crazies hanging on every word on Fox TV and Rush Radio, Its demented.
All these leftists wear a mask indicating that they care about freedom, individual dignity, human life, but they don't. If you pull off the mask, if you dig deeper, all that remains is a screaming hatred. I submit the flaming comments here as evidence.
i submit this as evidence of extremist right winger "flaming hatred":
Seattle Times Jun 12, 2009:
""You want my weapons; this is how you'll get them," von Brunn wrote in a note he had signed, according to the arrest affidavit.
"The Holocaust is a lie," the note read. "Obama was created by Jews. Obama does what his Jew owners tell him to do. Jews captured America's money. Jews control the mass media.""
"i submit this as evidence of extremist right winger 'flaming hatred'"
Did I say I support von Brunn, you clown? I hate the man; he's irredeemably evil. Nothing you post here has anything--*anything*--to do with what I said. Spewing news clips arbitrarily may serve your delusions, but it fails in any other respect; it has nothing to do with my argument.
Binswanger said theres anti-Jewish sentiment *on the left*--which is entirely true. Go to any college campus.
"Ayn Rand Insitute"??? FUCK YOU!!!! Washed-up talentless runaway jewish nobody who wrote a shitty talentless book under a fake name. And you made an "institute" about this witch???
Yes, you see the Nazis and the Communists sat down and had an agreement. After some debate, the Nazi spokesperson said,"Then it's settled, we will define ourselves as the opposite of one another". The communist representative agreed, and that's how all of this happened...
There are JEWS IN ISRAEL that criticize Israeli policy. Just because somebody acknowledges the crimes that Israel has committed doesn't mean they're antisemitic or that they "take the side" of the Palestinians.
If I criticized the policies of the Mexican government, does that mean I hate Mexicans? If I criticize the policies of the Nicaraguan government, does that mean I support the Sandinistas?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Ron Paul and those who are dry humping his campaign poster right now need to listen up. The Republicans/"the right" didn't leave Ron Paul, Paul left them. And the libertarians have never been the "right-wing". The founders/Constituion (Paul's inspiration) were quite selective of who they wanted to have the Bill of Rights. Blacks are 3/5 of a person? Natives who there for 1000s of years need to take a hike? Women vote? Ha! That is all selective, 1 groups over another. Ring a bell moon bats?
You can't be small government if you want to restrict what can be taught in schools, what medical researchers can spend money on (stem cell res.), who a person chooses to marry, what a woman chooses to do with her body. There's no small gov't in subsidizing the war industry with a war for oil companies. You can't subsidize oil companies when oil is $100/barrell. You can't make sure the CEO get his $10M bonus when his company hits an iceberg. You can't crusade for democracy & be a small gov't.
I love hearing what the so-called right-wing, can and can't be. White supremacists and neo-Nazis "can't be right-wingers" because they're for collectivism and true right-wingers are for the rights of the individual.
Sorry to tell you libertarians but the right-wing doesn't belong to you and never belonged to you. Today it doesn't belong to you because the evangelicals, the military industrial complex and corporate welfarists have the power.
Jesus, I've heard better sense come from a 4 yr olds mouth than these grown ass people. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone when I watch these crazy fucks twist and distort words.
Was it then the republicans pandering to the conservative Christian right that brought the association with racism. As alot of white supremisist groups hide behide the flag of Christianity?
Racists are liberals? What? Someone should have told the Jews because the vast majority of them voted democrat. I can't imagine many of the right-wing KKK guys voted for Obama either. Someone should tell them they aren't authentic racists.
That's the thing. Kluckers (KKKers) aren't right wing; they can't be because they're core beliefs (someone is better than someone else because of skin color) is opposite to core conservative beliefs (that EVERY individual is of worth).
As that famous Republican once put it: We should judge a person by the content of their character, not the color of their skin! (YES, MLK was a REPUBLICAN!)
The only racists you might find in the R-camp are the country-club, moderates.
You can check MLK official memorial website if you don't believe me.
I understand the embarrassment this Brunn guy brought to the right wingers especially after the protest on DHS report but denying this guy as a right winger would only diminish your credibility even more IMO.
The right supports the dignity of life as long as you don't live in Iraq or are Muslim anywhere else in the world. The right supports constitutional rights except for the ones itemized in the bill of rights. This shooter was about as a far right wing as you can get. I don't know how people at Fox News can keep a strait face as they spout out absolute bullshit.
Of course, these are the same people who think Socialism is bad because the Nazis called themselves National Socialists. And of course, they took them at their word. After all, if you can't trust Nazis, who can you trust?
Way to conflate the collectivism/individualism spectrum with the left/right spectrum. I'd like to point to the various members of the religious right as a community-based group, to the point that some want to expand their family values into law. That's pretty collectivist. So is nationalism in general, which was an important part of the National Socialism movement. Nationalism is generally associated with the right.
Untrue. Many Ron Paul people worship God not Rand and most feel about 911 is that it was a terrible tragedy which got us into a war with a country that had nothing to do with 911.
Ron Paul people want limited government and lower taxes. We want freedom of choice, and for the government to follow the Constitution We realize both right and left are worried about us thus stories like this get spun to cause hatred and fear.
It makes the Communists to the left of the National Socialists, obviously.
To dismiss the notion of anti-immigration sentiments as being "right-wing" ignores the many root causes for this.
One asks, if opposition to increased/illegal immigration is inherently "right-wing" why do self-identified socialists like Senator Bernie Sanders oppose it?
It's true that traditionally the Left, as identified with labor collectives, can be associated with anti-immigration. This has always been a cause for contention because they are, of course, for the liberation of all workers from the plight of poverty. A similar rift can be seen in the Right, since the right believes in the freedom of the movement of capital, and as such, labor as well, but they change their tune when traditional communities feel threatened by foreigners.
Supporting a right-wing argument does not automatically make one right-wing and vice-versa. Obama himself is pro-life for example.
Whatever definition you are using for the ultra right here in America is not consistent with reality. If you don't believe me for some reason you can see what the GOP says.
If you ask someone why he/she may be opposed to immigration you will get a number of reasons which transcend bigotry and ignorance.
Many reasons would be perfectly sensible and based in proletarian considerations.
Increased immigration results in lowering wages, increased stress on a welfare system created to nurture those who legitimately qualify for those benefits, etc.
"Many reasons [for opposing immigration] would be perfectly sensible and based in proletarian considerations.
Increased immigration results in lowering wages, increased stress on a welfare system created to nurture those who legitimately qualify for those benefits, etc."
I other words: NATIONAL SOCIALISM.
Anyone who thinks that the central trait or evil of the Nazis was anti-semitism is a superficial thinker.
Why for example are Latino collectivists viewed as radical "leftists", whilst White collectivists are considered "far-right"? It's eternally paradoxical to maintain that assumption.
I'd say her reputation is getting what it deserves. Her philosophy inspired several generations of asshats, from Greenspan to this guy, and now they're coming home to roost. I guess you could say her dogma was finally run over by her karma.
I think you might have misunderstood what I said. "Greenspan to this guy" means "Greenspan to Binswanger." While I was never a fan of Rand's philosophy, it was at least better than a lot of the shallow-thinkers who claimed to be her followers, and used Objectivism to give intellectual legitimacy to a lot of things it wasn't intended for. That's what I meant.
I'm saying your opinions and statements can be used to give so-called "intellectual legitimacy to a lot of things it wasn't intended for". If that's the case, then we can say that for everyone. That's just passing blame all around.
I would like to know what you mean by "things it wasn't intended for". Do you think Rand would say Binswanger was wrong?
I'm not Randian, but I do know she agreed with Mises on some points, probably including his explanation that Nazis were left-wing.
That's not a taste of my own medicine, though. I said it was fair to link Rand's reputation to the actions of her followers. You committed a fallacy of the undistributed middle by insinuating that because von Bruun and I both dislike Greenspan, we must dislike him for the same reason. Hardly the same thing.
How about you be clear: did you write that Rand is getting what she deserves by Binswager asserting Von Brunn is a product of the Left?
Binswager was part of Rand's inner circle and edited some of her work. Of course we should link Binswager to Rand. But what negative point are you making about either Binswager or Rand?
I wonder if the next Von Brunn is reading your comments right now.
that means, only collectivists can be racist but that doesn't mean that collectivists are racist. nationalism is also collectivist, so i don't know how beck can take any moral high ground.
thank you for pointing out your idiocy by jumping to conclusions...actually, i am not an objectivist, but I have read Rand. I have also read Chomsky. I find both their works to have pros and cons. I don't know what I hate more, idiotic comments on the internets or closed minded people who think they are enlightened... usually they are one in the same.
LOL! All I have to do is look at your playlists. You're one of those libertarians under the simplistic spells of Rand's thought who wants to consider themselves a anarchist. I doubt you've read Chomsky or any of the great anarchist philosophers- you're too wedded to capitalism.
ive read marx, lennin, luxemburg... ive read all of capital... i used to be a marxist... Rothbard + Thoreau were the best things i have ever read, and that has shaped my ideology. Even from a marxist perspective, we need free markets... so that we could truly go through marxist epochs... bickering will get us no where, i really do recommend Rothbard.
we have never had capitalism, the statist monopolies have always controlled monetary supplies. if you read marx, most of his criticisms are against the state and statist capitalism. left and right anarchist are less at odds than you think.
I don't think most anarachists will accept anarcho-capitalists as anarchists. Anyway, I apologize for my earlier comments. You're obviously very well read. Still, the the possible exception of Thoreau I wouldn't consider any of those people you mentioned anarchists.
Glenn Beck´s theory is that Hitler was a socialist agent paid by ACORN.. Does Fox ever show decency and respect to our ears, putting such morons on the air???
more moronic than we can ever understand, a republican radio star mentioned that obama's candidate for the supreme court was not fit to be a supreme court justice because she likes spicy food... really? i mean how idiotic can you get??
I get what he's trying to say but it's still retarded. If you're going to go on national TV and try to explain why this is some kind of "leftist" attack you've got to explain why you believe that. This just comes off as some kind of newspeak orwellian bullshit... Not to mention this is full of false premises.
Listen Rand guys, I know you define words differently than the general population but this is taking it a step too far.
Von Brunn Hates: Christians, Catholics, Israel, Capitalism, Conservatives, NeoCons, FoxNews, Bill O'Reily, Individualism
He Loves: Palestinian "Freedom Fighters," Hamas "Freedom Fighters," Socialism, Evolution, Rachel Corrie (St. Pancake), Being an "Artist," Collecting Welfare, Registering as a Democrat in Maryland... Just like you.
"The pitiful tale of ISRAELIS forced to live in the Diaspora is another HOAX. Only a small HEBREW population ever lived in Palestine; genetically they are compelled to live among host nations. The ISRAELI administrative capital was not Jerusalem but Babylon."
How in the world could that screed be taken as support for Palestine or Hamas?
By such faulty logic then The Neo Nazi or white supremacist are also supporters of Hamas because they all oppose Israel.
Oh boy, betwen Steele "hip hop" approach and this feeble attempt of diversion from the fact that Brunn is a right winger, no wonder right wingers are losing credibility IMO.
"DIVERSITY is good only for goyim! JEWS — who have made anti-Semitism a profitable business: who bomb their own synagogues; scribble graffiti on their own tombs; mouth HOLOCAUST lies — are revealed today as the world's most virulent ANTI-SEMITES: murdering Arabs at every opportunity and screaming for U.S. assistance when the dispossessed terrorists fight back."
"Another conclusion that logically may be drawn from this insane charade, is that any people — say 10-million Watusi, or 50-million Chinese — need only convert to JUDAISM and they then have Khazarlike rights to own Palestine, kill Arabs, and destroy Gentiles everywhere!"
Lifelong activist Republican Conservative who is absolutely astonished that the media and a huge number of ill-informed Conservative Republicans believe this president is one of us. He's an oligarchic radical.
So, can you cite ANY article this "Thinking Republican" posted on Dkos which shows that he's a "Obama BC conspiracy" believer or a Hamas supporter which you believe Brunn to be?
Oh BTW calling someone a failure under the protection of anonymity of the internet is a mark of an internet tough guy IMO.
I don't need to! 1) The point was, whichever FREE forum somebody uses to post their hate is no indication of their politics, as a Republican posting on DailyKos proves, and 2) LIBERALS HATE ISRAEL, NOT CONSERVATIVES. That's how everyone (with brains) knows Von Brunn is a liberal, because he hates Israelis, hates Christians, hates Republicans, hates FoxNews, and loves anybody who kills them.
Not all Democrats worship Obama like you Obots do, especially the old racist Democrats like Von Jewhate. Furthermore, where a person decides to post his screeds has nothing to do with politics. I can find just as many Rethuglicans on DailyKos. Is DK a rightwing site?
Yeah, he's one of those Christian-hating, Israel-hating, Conservative-hating, FoxNews-hating, Bush destroyed the T-Towers, Socialist "right-wingers" you see all the time.
It would be funny if you weren't so desperately self-deluded. Seek professional help.
Gee who knew that a "second amendment fanatic" could be a lefty ? /Sarcasm.
Seattle Times Jun 12, 2009:
"A notebook that law-enforcement officers discovered in von Brunn's 2002 red Hyundai, which he had double-parked outside the museum's entrance Wednesday, appeared to offer insight into his mind-set.
"You want my weapons; this is how you'll get them," von Brunn wrote in a note he had signed, according to the arrest affidavit."
Who are the Amendment II Democrats, and what exactly are you trying to do?
Amendment II Democrats is currently an informal confederation of liberal, progressive, moderate, and conservative Democrats and like-minded individuals who are dedicated to fighting for a free and armed America"
Filth like you hide behind anti-white male stereotypes to justify your hate and greed. You are a disgusting racist bigot, just like your hero.
"Investigative records indicated Mr. von Brunn held subscriptions and mail-order memberships to an assortment of far-right and anti-Semitic organizations."
See that phrase "far-right and anti-Semitic organizations"?
Now who's hiding to justify hate and greed here? /Sarcasm.
OMG, seriously?

Collectivism = leftism? = racism?
Liberalism = individualism. True.

Liberalism does not believe in the freedom to keep what you have earned or freedom from government intervention.

Uh, maybe because they were nationalists and fascists?
terminaldeity 2 years ago
"equality and liberty": If you mean equality of opportunity, equal protection from force or fraud, equal treatment before the law, ok. But equality of outcome?Nope.
"Liberalism" in the Enlightenment was #1, not #2.
Nationalism is collectivism, the individual serves the State. How does that differ from Soviet collectivism, other than in slogans?
"Fascism" -a term coined by Mussolini. Socialism Lite. The State controls all economic activity, but allows a business to keep its name.

Sounds to me like you're referring to the United States or Australia...or Ireland...or Italy...or Egypt, Japan, Poland, Russia, Mexico, Brazil, Haiti, and about 200 other countries that started via forced occupation and "illegal formation". Dunce.
IfhBiff 2 years ago
Outside of you calling me a dunce, you haven't really offered any intelligible dispute of what I said.
Whatever Stalinist Russia or Nazi Germany claimed to be was not what they were in reality. Both were authoritarian dictatorships and WERE NOT communist. Communism implies rule by the actual people. If it is short changed it is not communism.
Now please give me an intelligent response that doesn't resort to ad hom attacks.
trehansen 2 years ago
He also talks about this unspoken agreement between Nazis and Russian communists without giving any proof to such statement.
Anyone can make things up too in an attempt to bring validity to an inanely moronic argument.
trehansen 2 years ago
trehansen...can you read or is your mommy typing these uneducated, ill-informed, weakly debate topics up for you? If she is, tell her to read a book...actually any book will do, there are over 20,000 History books in print for use in American Universities alone...not to mention the Black Book of Communism, or Inside the Third Reich or any of a dozen other books that detail the connection between Russian communists and National Socialists...Dunce.
IfhBiff 2 years ago
You really have a big chip on your shoulder don't you. Please educate me as to shared ideologies between the two. I am not talking of the way in which they were implemented either. Stalinist Russia is not Marxist communism. The proletariat that Marx proposed was supposed to be a temporary transition from the current government to a communist society. Stalin had no plan on letting his dictatorship be temporary. He wanted absolute rule.
trehansen 2 years ago
These two are amazingly retarded. The left-right phenomenon is only discussed within this country. Amongst educated groups they discuss ideological differences. Trying to label ideologies with the "right" and "left" references too easily simplifies and does injustice to these complex philosophies.

Binswanger is spot on.
RodCornholio 2 years ago
In American history, the notion of racial superiority was espoused through the inhuman, anti-capitalist practice of forced labor and defended by people claiming they had a right to sovereignty from a centralized government. You had the champions of "states rights" propping up a cost free-production system that was blatantly discriminatory. I believe that true Utopian individualism would discourage racism but, history has not conformed to Objectivist idealism and it never will.
Neoconjoe 2 years ago
His overarching point is that any type of collectivism is bad - not just racist
grantsinmypants2 2 years ago
Collectivism - you mean like establishing nation states, tribes, or kinship groups?
fishhead06 2 years ago
No, I mean like establishing rules or laws based upon the idea that individuals should be judged by anything other than their actions.
Leftists have theirs - affirmative action, multiculturalism, welfare (because poor people are just "less fortunate") - and Von Hess or whatever his name is has his own version of collectivism: white supremacy
All are irrational, and all stem from the Leftist idea that human progress "takes a village."
grantsinmypants2 2 years ago
I'm not so sure that the Left can be described as caring less about individual rights. Last time I checked, the ACLU was considered Left. The Left fights for our individual rights to privacy, health care, justice, due process, etc.
I don't see the Right as fighting for any individual rights. Can you name some other than the right to low taxes and the right to tell other people how to run their lives?
Sally9999 2 years ago 2
Health care isnt a right. You and I probably have very different ideas about what "justice" and "due process" mean. Personal privacy is a legitimate right - that's about all the Left stands for that's good.
The Right, otoh, more consistently respects the right to produce wealth in one's way, and to keep that wealth. They also support gun rights and the Left doesn't.
Neither side is consistent - and that's Binswangers point. Righ or Left, Von Brunn opposes individual rights consistently
grantsinmypants2 2 years ago
We can argue all day long about whether he's right or left, but ultimately the two are the same. That's in the wider historical context of the terms.
In the more specifiic, American context - the context Binswanger was speaking in - the term "Right wing" has more consistently meant individual rights whereas "Left wing" has meant collectivism/tribalism/socialism/big government.
So when he says that racists are leftists, he means that they're opposed to individual rights just like a liberal
grantsinmypants2 2 years ago
"Mr. Binswanger didn't articulate his point very well..." is an UNDERSTATEMENT. This is more accurate: "He is lying sack of vomit who spins a dog sh%t and turns into a Hershey's kisses.
zartosht06 2 years ago
I'm not quite sure I follow. If he knew that his point was wrong, how would not making it very well be an understatement?
I don't think that had he been wrong, and he knew it, he would come right out and say what he's trying to trick people into believing.
grantsinmypants2 2 years ago
Right/left is valid if meant as pro-coercion/pro-freedom.
They are invalid if what is meant is communist/faschist.
As the interviewee said, the common denominator between those two is collectivism.
You know, folks who disagree with that the interviewee is saying--there are better ways to communicate than using rude words. I follow the same ideology as him and I'd be happy to dismember any well-articulated argument. Presumably you can spew things other than refuse from your mouths.
squaretriangle 2 years ago 2
I can spew a lot of things from my mouth, including the truth. Racism is nothing but honesty about race portrayed as something bad. Honesty about the differences between the races is not "collectivism" any more than the choice to ignore those differences is "individualism."

Right now "Israels government" would like nothing more than to attack Iran pre-emtively.

Taino187 2 years ago
Peace is not the opposite of war. War is systematic killing for political outcomes including reductions of violence, and gains in prosperity. Peace does not exist because of international anarchy, human nature, and unequal resources. Survival is a universal right. Israel deserves to protect itself.
I think the Iraq War was planned before 9/11, but so what? We were attacked before 9/11, and Iraqis lived under terror before 9/11 too.

You can't be small government if you want to restrict what can be taught in schools, what medical researchers can spend money on (stem cell res.), who a person chooses to marry, what a woman chooses to do with her body. There's no small gov't in subsidizing the war industry with a war for oil companies. You can't subsidize oil companies when oil is $100/barrell. You can't make sure the CEO get his $10M bonus when his company hits an iceberg. You can't crusade for democracy & be a small gov't.

This type of rhetoric shouldn't work.

Jesus, he calls anti-immigration a trait of the left-wing? This guy needs to take a trip to the South.
Also, if Nazis were leftists what does that make the Communists?
HubertsCurse 2 years ago
It makes the Communists to the left of the National Socialists, obviously.
To dismiss the notion of anti-immigration sentiments as being "right-wing" ignores the many root causes for this.
One asks, if opposition to increased/illegal immigration is inherently "right-wing" why do self-identified socialists like Senator Bernie Sanders oppose it?
OfficialDarkKnight 2 years ago
It's true that traditionally the Left, as identified with labor collectives, can be associated with anti-immigration. This has always been a cause for contention because they are, of course, for the liberation of all workers from the plight of poverty. A similar rift can be seen in the Right, since the right believes in the freedom of the movement of capital, and as such, labor as well, but they change their tune when traditional communities feel threatened by foreigners.
Mangina9000 2 years ago
Supporting a right-wing argument does not automatically make one right-wing and vice-versa. Obama himself is pro-life for example.
Whatever definition you are using for the ultra right here in America is not consistent with reality. If you don't believe me for some reason you can see what the GOP says.
HubertsCurse 2 years ago
If you ask someone why he/she may be opposed to immigration you will get a number of reasons which transcend bigotry and ignorance.
Many reasons would be perfectly sensible and based in proletarian considerations.
Increased immigration results in lowering wages, increased stress on a welfare system created to nurture those who legitimately qualify for those benefits, etc.
OfficialDarkKnight 2 years ago

I despise people who go to the gutter on either the right or the left and hurl rocks at those in the center.[Dwight Eisenhower]
-guess Ike did not care for either extreme.
America needs to get balanced again. There are too many unbalanced people running around from both sides.

Wow, how moronic are Republicans !?
The Right is ruining America.
GonzoTheGreat3000 2 years ago 2
more moronic than we can ever understand, a republican radio star mentioned that obama's candidate for the supreme court was not fit to be a supreme court justice because she likes spicy food... really? i mean how idiotic can you get??

Did he just say "Negro"???

The Republican party has incited this violence.
Richardgwm 2 years ago

BeegtymeRawkstah 2 years ago
Really?
Brunn loves Palestinian and Hamas?
Can you cite ANY part of his online "essay' or a news article where you derive such conclusion?
With link to prove that the article or the "essay" real of course.
Oh BTW can you name me JUST ONE republican who posted (And not just in comment or because he was being interviewed by DKos) on DKos?

"The pitiful tale of ISRAELIS forced to live in the Diaspora is another HOAX. Only a small HEBREW population ever lived in Palestine; genetically they are compelled to live among host nations. The ISRAELI administrative capital was not Jerusalem but Babylon."
- Kill the Best Gentiles! James von Brunn
BeegtymeRawkstah 2 years ago
Huh?
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
How in the world could that screed be taken as support for Palestine or Hamas?
By such faulty logic then The Neo Nazi or white supremacist are also supporters of Hamas because they all oppose Israel.
Oh boy, betwen Steele "hip hop" approach and this feeble attempt of diversion from the fact that Brunn is a right winger, no wonder right wingers are losing credibility IMO.
laleeloolelo 2 years ago
Read them all, especially the oh-so-liberal "dispossessed terrorists fight back" justification for terrorism against America and Israel.
YOU FAIL.

From DailyKos Member: Thinking Republican
Lifelong activist Republican Conservative who is absolutely astonished that the media and a huge number of ill-informed Conservative Republicans believe this president is one of us. He's an oligarchic radical.
BeegtymeRawkstah 2 years ago
So, can you cite ANY article this "Thinking Republican" posted on Dkos which shows that he's a "Obama BC conspiracy" believer or a Hamas supporter which you believe Brunn to be?
Oh BTW calling someone a failure under the protection of anonymity of the internet is a mark of an internet tough guy IMO.
laleeloolelo 2 years ago
I don't need to! 1) The point was, whichever FREE forum somebody uses to post their hate is no indication of their politics, as a Republican posting on DailyKos proves, and 2) LIBERALS HATE ISRAEL, NOT CONSERVATIVES. That's how everyone (with brains) knows Von Brunn is a liberal, because he hates Israelis, hates Christians, hates Republicans, hates FoxNews, and loves anybody who kills them.

"During WWI it became painfully clear that the IDEA of rugged individualism worked against the ARYAN NATION and its individual States.
WESTERN SOCIALISM, unlike Marxism/Communism and Capitalism, emanates not from Reason alone but from the ETHOS OF THE WEST." - James Von Brunn
Dude's a socialist, and socialist = Democrat.
BeegtymeRawkstah 2 years ago
Gee if he's a democrat then how come he post his screed on FREE REPUBLIC?
The screed he put up there has been scrubbed but it 's still in Google cache.
It's titled "Obama is missing!"
laleeloolelo 2 years ago
Not all Democrats worship Obama like you Obots do, especially the old racist Democrats like Von Jewhate. Furthermore, where a person decides to post his screeds has nothing to do with politics. I can find just as many Rethuglicans on DailyKos. Is DK a rightwing site?
BeegtymeRawkstah 2 years ago
Beeg. you can deny Brunn as a right winger all you like but your argument would just diminish your credibility even more.
It's like when Fox put D instead of R to Foley's name when he was caught on the Page's scandal.
laleeloolelo 2 years ago
Yeah, he's one of those Christian-hating, Israel-hating, Conservative-hating, FoxNews-hating, Bush destroyed the T-Towers, Socialist "right-wingers" you see all the time.
It would be funny if you weren't so desperately self-deluded. Seek professional help.
BeegtymeRawkstah 2 years ago
Gee who knew that a "second amendment fanatic" could be a lefty ? /Sarcasm.
Seattle Times Jun 12, 2009:
"A notebook that law-enforcement officers discovered in von Brunn's 2002 red Hyundai, which he had double-parked outside the museum's entrance Wednesday, appeared to offer insight into his mind-set.
"You want my weapons; this is how you'll get them," von Brunn wrote in a note he had signed, according to the arrest affidavit."
Someone here sure is deluded, but it's not me.

"Amendment II Democrats"
"Who We Are
Who are the Amendment II Democrats, and what exactly are you trying to do?
Amendment II Democrats is currently an informal confederation of liberal, progressive, moderate, and conservative Democrats and like-minded individuals who are dedicated to fighting for a free and armed America"
Filth like you hide behind anti-white male stereotypes to justify your hate and greed. You are a disgusting racist bigot, just like your hero.
BeegtymeRawkstah 2 years ago
So, do you have ANY proof that Brunn is a member of this "Amendment II Democrats"?
If he is then it's curious that there has been no press release from them regarding the Holocaust Museum shooting.
Unless of course the "Amendment II Democrats" has no ties whatsoever with Brunn because he's neither a liberal nor a democratic party member.
Someone sure is deluded, but it's not me.
laleeloolelo 2 years ago
AHEM.
Post Gazette Jun 12, 2009:
"Investigative records indicated Mr. von Brunn held subscriptions and mail-order memberships to an assortment of far-right and anti-Semitic organizations."
See that phrase "far-right and anti-Semitic organizations"?
Now who's hiding to justify hate and greed here? /Sarcasm.
