@sassybooma I'm in my senior in college and a black man and I wont mind giving up my ghetto pass. Seeing the tears in my mom's eyes when I hold my degree and being the first guy on my dad's side of my family to earn a degree is worth much more to me than an arbitary "ghetto pass."
Sadly some of my fellow black people (the dumb ones of course) believe that getting an education or moving out of the hood automatically equates to "trying to be white" or being uppity. I live in Atlanta and a lot of people say "shawty" and other things of this nature. Growing up, I can't tell you the number of times I was called a "white girl" or "stuck up" because I talked proper and was focused in school.
Uppity us a term that originates from "field hand" slaves. The term was used to discriminate against the slaves of a lighter skin color that predominately did "house" work as a slave. Still a slave nevertheless. Throughout the ages, the term was used still as a discriminative tool against by black against other blacks for various reasons.
Getting an education is a good status, but in those last days we are living it doesnt mean you are going to have a job. There's a lot of so called higly educated people with master's degree who are working and getting paid less then their statist apply. Education is good, but notice how people without the education are sometimes making a whole lot more.
There is nothin wrong with getting a education because with the job market and the economy being in terrible shape you have to have some higher level education in order to have a decent job that you can make a career in. So, for the people that don't want to have a education be content where you are and don't hate on the next person because they are goin the extra mile by going to college to receive a degree in their studies. OVERALL, BLACK PEOPLE NEED TO QUIT ACTING WITH A CRAB MENTALITY!

I think Black women are extremely sensitive and quite frankly offended by Black men who date and marry outside of their race....especially a GOOD BLACK MAN. I'm not one of them. There is the perception that Black men who date outside of their race often look down upon Black women. If a person holds that perception then ANY advice Uncle P gave would be suspect and the blunt language would be considered an insult. You wouldn't take advice from someone who felt you were "less than."

Im 15 and have already been scrutinised for wanting better in general (i.e education quality of life) by my peers. @Kahlee830, I agree with you. When I was in highschool, My friends and I were considered "white" or "Uppity" because we actually gave a damn about education. Sad thing is that we have people before us that fought for us to get an education and be able to learn how to read and write. When I hear my black peers say this, I ask them "So are you saying black people are suppose to be dumb and uneducated?' That usually stop their dumbass ranting. Education is the key. I hope more people realize it.

I'm in no way uppity, but I do feel that people tend to treat you differently once you've been through college and it could be people that you were very familiar with in the neighborhood or even hung out with, but because they chose another path you don't really have the same rapport as someone else you may know that didn't go to college either. I get the commonality of facing similar issues, but were we not from the same place and usually the same environment.

I watched this vid and the ask Uncle P vid all the way through.You and I can take what he said as constructive criticism because we have healthy self images but thats not the case for everyone.If you took a pole you will probably find that there are more ppl with unhealthy self images/self esteem issues than ppl with healthy ones.If he change 1 or 2 words like stupid or hoe then more ppl will probably be receptive to the

This whole subject pisses me off too! I grew up in a community that was half black and half white. I, myself, am Caucasian with a vast ethnicity (including African American) and have never understood this. I've heard all the shit about educated black people being "white" and the white people acting "black" being wiggers. I'm an educated person that happens to be white, but I grew up with just as many black influences as white.

If we are looking at this from the increased earing then the 3 years later the 2006 census shows that black women with highschool, some college and bacholer's degrees earn more than asian women of the same. However, asian women with master's or doctorate degrees earn more than black women of the same. So that shows the change from 2003 to 2006. Growing up, I have been accused of being an 'oreo' and have been accused of 'acting white', because of my choices in clothes, music and other personal effects. Getting an education is a good status, but in those last days we are living it doesnt mean you are going to have a job. There's a lot of so called higly educated people with master's degree who are working and getting paid less then their statist apply. I think Black women are extremely sensitive and quite frankly offended by Black men who date and marry outside of their race....especially a GOOD BLACK MAN. I'm not one of them. There is the perception that Black men who date outside of their race often look down upon Black women. However, I can see how some would be offended when he listed the accomplishments and achievements of black women then said oh but i have an Asian wife. He could have kept that to himself. I'm in no way uppity, but I do feel that people tend to treat you differently once you've been through college and it could be people that you were very familiar with in the neighborhood or even hung out with, but because they chose another path you don't really have the same rapport as someone else you may know that didn't go to college either. I get the commonality of facing similar issues, but were we not from the same place and usually the same environment.

I watched this vid and the ask Uncle P vid all the way through.You and I can take what he said as constructive criticism because we have healthy self images but thats not the case for everyone.If you took a pole you will probably find that there are more ppl with unhealthy self images/self esteem issues than ppl with healthy ones.If he change 1 or 2 words like stupid or hoe then more ppl will probably be receptive to the

I, myself, am Caucasian with a vast ethnicity (including African American) and have never understood this. I've heard all the shit about educated black people being "white" and the white people acting "black" being wiggers. I'm an educated person that happens to be white, but I grew up with just as many black influences as white.

If we are looking at this from the increased earing then the 3 years later the 2006 census shows that black women with highschool, some college and bacholer's degrees earn more than asian women of the same. However, asian women with master's or doctorate degrees earn more than black women of the same. So that shows the change from 2003 to 2006. One of the problems is alot of us don't have responsible men in our lives that want to show genuine love for us without wanting anything, so we don't know how it feels to have someone come in the way of genuine concern... The reaction by those people was a cop out for their low self esteem, in life some ppl grow and learn and some REFUSE to.. I wish I had an uncle or brother (i didn't have brothers either) like that to keep it real with me, when I was younger.

i didnt have a prob with the video except when he started downgrading woman. people who sit there and write these questions may have grammer prob and are seeking advice not being called names. he didnt even finish reading one question thats fucked up because there couldve been an important clue in that letter. it doesnt need to be sugar coated but come onnnnnnnnn throw away hoe really??? im kind of in between with uncle p being married 2 an asian woman and is giving advice to black woman idk.

When you lay with another race you do NOT deal with black issues, so what could he possibly have to say?
