  • I don't think people realize how good TG-16 was or how many great games it had.

  • GREAT game,i loved this

  • HOLY SHIT EXPLODING BEARS

  • The game came out in 1988 and the graphic looks like SNES....

  • One of the best games EVER. Great graphics. Awesome sound and music. Smooth gameplay. And then there's Jagu!

  • Wow I had completely forgotten that this game even EXISTED! Such a killer game, has sort of an Edgar Rice Burroughs Lost World feel, which of course I LOVE!

  • Love this game, especially the music. Gameplay is rock solid.

  • Legendary Axe for the Turbo Grafx 16 was truly LEGENDARY. Great game.

  • hi ,I have a question you may be able to answer. I have just bought after looking for ages! a new boxed turbografx, up to the point it arrived I allways thought it was called the Turbogrfx-16? (as it is described all over the place) but no-where on the box is the ident "16" used? just "turbografx" any ideas? or other unfo? cheers

  • the normal turbo grafx logo has a 16 in the middle

  • The European version was just called "Turbografx".

  • Seems like you get a lot of hit points. At least until the eyeball boss.

  • hey I got this game on a emulator I'm taking a guess you can get n extra life if I earn 30,000 points am I right?

  • This was one of the best games of the 16-Bit days. Great color on the graphics and great music (especially for the TG), this needs to be remade or re released.

  • @atolm1 I agree. Still in my top 10 games of all time. This music can't be beat.

  • What I really want is a video of a Japanese guy playing from start to finish

  • Still an awesome game!

  • I always love this game. I was like a alternate version of Astynax (Arcade) for me.

  • The overall game of the year in 89-according to EGM was "Ghouls N' Ghosts" for the Genesis, and I think legendary got it for the turbografix16.

  • I so want someone to do a playthrough of this game and post it up.

Playing video games as a kid. There's certain games you just could not beat no matter how hard you tried, and yet your friends could. These were 'those' games. Those games that were so f*cking hard, they made you want to throw the controller at the TV.

    This was one of them.

And one of the few of 'those' games I actually beat.

    I'm still proud of it.

    2 Decades later.

Still proud of it. It was THAT hard.

  • my Friend OceanBlueKirby is doing it right now but she only got far as Zone 2 but she planning to do more when she has time

  • legendary axe on the turbo grafix 16 was AMAZING

  • drat I found out i can't get it in the wii game shop

  • what does the pair of wings do at 1:17?

  • should be speed up when swinging the axe

  • drat u didn't put the part when you go into the cave I like the music when ur in cave

  • wow I used to enjoy it when I was a kid and it still a good game now I wish I got it in the wii game shop so I can post it onto youtube

  • Just came from watching Golden Axe. I like this game's music better.

  • This game had awesome music as well.

  • Man, I loved this game back in the day. I can't wait for it to arrive on the Wii.

  • Great old school game. This won Game of the Year by EGM in 1989. True story.

  • No, False.

Ghouls 'N Ghosts for Sega Genesis won EGM's Game of the Year for 1989.

Legendary Axe only won TurboGrafx-16 GOTY, but not overall best game of 1989 which was

Genesis Ghouls 'N Ghosts. I know because I have the magazine, EGM Number 5.

  • Yeah. IMO legendary axe has held up much better over time thean G&G.

  • I once made it through this game on the first man. Many years ago.

  • Great video. I would liked to have seen the last boss though. You got some mean Legendary Axe skillz man.

  • turbo graf x 16 ftw hell yea I beat the shit out this game when I was a kid.

  • yes VMI is JVC. They were the same company that made the TV I played this game on.

  • Oh man! That's a big throwback. Music sounds NES/Famicom primitive.

  • Yeah, I guess so. But I tell you the further you get in the game, the more advanced the future tracks sound...especially at the end of the game. In some way I thought the credits music kind of "foreshadowed" some of the quality sounding prowess that would be heard in SNES games in the 90's.
